- What I Do To Match Equipment To My New ISX Reel That I Received!
First i look into what i own to determine the best rod to match my newly purchased spinning reel slated for a 2024 release. Then i customize the accessories needed if i either surf cast, plug, float, whip or jig using it. So i will shore jig using it. I picked out a 9'9" Guide Select Pro 2pc Spinning Rod Med application BNIB from storage.
I added a pair of Fishing Butlers to keep the 2 rod sections together during transport & storage. A Medium LineDancer to enhance the action of the retrieved jig. Finally a plush Crown Royal bag to protect the reel during transport & storage. These simple additions will help prolong the life of my equipment & help maintain the re-sale value.

Hi Cris. ive been following and watching videos specially for the okumar products.. i just bought this reel in 2000 series. its seems a little small, i have a 1000 series kastking and a seahawk 800 series for my ultralight set up but this reel at 2000 is much smaller.. planning to take another 1, can you advice if the 3000 or 4000 will be better for 8ft medium light set up? is the 4000 size same size as any shimano 3000s.. i believe that okuma sizing is a little bit on the smaller. side. comparing the 4000 inspira to stradic 3000, are they thw same size? let me know pls.❤
You're at that crossroads that i brought up many times when using certain length rods & what spinner to match them up with. Firstly most companies have the 3K & 4K same body sizes & different spool sizes. Not all companies do this but most do. For myself when fishing saltwater a 7-7.5ft ML rod feels good when using a 3K for all around usage. 8-9ft still can but a 4K is much better weight wise & in line rating.
The new Inspira 4K is on par with the Stradic 4K on paper. Another angler using both has confirmed his feelings on this in his comments saying that the Inspira felt better. I myself compared the Inspira 4K to my new Nasci 4K. Almost equal but i must give the Inspira a slight edge on how it feels casting jigs & fighting in fish. Makes sense as the Nasci is a step below the Stradic, but not by much. And i've been using Stradics long before using Okuma.
Remember i'm giving my opinion as i do own a lot of Shimanos & most Okumas. I own way over 100 rigs so i do know and understand what to look for in a reel, or rod. Also i have a bunch of Penns but don't like the sizing Penn uses. Like if you want a 8K spinner for shore casting it would have to be a 6500 size if you go Penn. Also the weight is heavier. But for surf casting it doesn't matter & the Penn pricing is cheaper compared to most others.
