After procuring the 4K months ago from a tester i had the chance to use it jigging from shore. Wow! Very smooth. Was offered a 5K but recently my choice of equipment in the grounds i fish has me catching fish under 10lb so the 4K was perfect. Now i'm working a different deeper location & suffered a blazing GT strike. Might've held it if a i had that 5K so might get it afterall. Trying to stay within 9-1/2 to 10ft rods rated 1/2-3oz or 3/4-2.5oz if possible. I can go 6K but depends on the size as every model can differ. I always try to go slightly smaller than my intended usage as nowadays fish average a bit smaller where i fish. More fun when hooked-up.

Since Davey made this great video the Inspira ISX was just named the "IF" Award Winning Reel for 2024. This is a great honor for any fishing company. But before that i was using the 4K & fell in love with it. Why? Smooth & very lightweight while cranking with ease. I'll eventually will get over the 4K (once i get the 5K & have the wife give me that "look"). lol

Does it have the same slow oscillation as the epixor and itx?

it will be very similar to the ITX as far as oscillation speed and line lay.

      Hi Steve,
Shimano does have great reels. All companies produce decent reels otherwise they'd be out of business. Depends on your intended usage and price bracket as that's bottom line for most consumers. The niche that Okuma has is affordability. They can do this as they own their own milling factories. I'm in Hawaii where the cost of living is high many beginning anglers need to rely on that niche, enough to purchase a dependable reel & still make a living. Take this new "A" series for example. It's a seriously modified version of the previous Inspira series. But Okuma added some really nice features and the MSRP is still around $100 starting for a quality spinning reel that has that "new" high tech look. Something tells me you already know this though. Personally i'm glad to see this taking place. Quality merchandise that is easier for the average Joe to acquire. Will look into getting the 4K/5K myself when it comes out. It'll send the right message that quality reels don't have to cost a lot.

@@ScubaChris 100% agree Light weight reels don't have to coat an arm and a leg. Plus it has the spool compasity for those of us that fish salt water, if we hook up to a big enough fish, we don't get spooled while having drag to be able to fight it.

Months ago i was able to procure the 4K before they were released. Most of Okuma's "bells & whistle" improvement features were added into this reel. @@TwiztidPain

    Suitable for saltwater?

@@ViyanaYuniaya-l7l These are ok for light saltwater use. The new X-Series spinning is probably a better option though.

I find it very deceptive calling this reel an inspira gen. It’s a Ceymar with no anti reverse switch with carbonite instead of a felt drag system. Unfortunately this happens frequently with leading brands. I can only assume that this marketing strategy comes from it being to close to the Ceymar lineup, (which is one of Okuma’s best sellers to date).

@@christiankarafyllis4538 That’s an interesting perspective for sure. The ISX also has an aluminum body which is a giant upgrade over the Ceymar reels. That in itself puts it into a different care than the Ceymar reels.
