Tom: "Estonia, watch out! We are coming for you next."
RUclips Sidebar: "Tom Fell Through A Frozen Lake In Estonia"
"We are coming for you next. At high velocity. Vertically."
Looks like tom should've been watching out for Estonia instead of the other way round
glad im not the only one who binges these every once in a while years later
Same!!!

'Realistic Heron Simulator' would basically have been Untitled Goose Game before Untitled Goose Game was a thing.
They should absolutely still make realistic Heron Simulator, if anything the format has become significantly more viable.
@@emilynelson5985 Yeah, devs are producing simulator games like crazy these days, it's the prime time for simulators. And with the success of games like Goat Simulator and (presumably) Untitled Goose Game (haven't played it), Heron Simulator would be likely to do well too. People like games where they get to play animals that screw around.

Is Matt just tired, or is he tired and emotional?

This was a little more chaotic than normal, and it's entirely my fault. -- Tom
+Matt and Tom Nice. Keep on making vedios.
+Matt and Tom Chaotic is good, it's free flowing, and some of us think that way, so we are able to keep up just fine.
Did Matt write this?
+Matt and Tom can I use that herring idea in a game?
+Thomas B heron
For future reference Tom, melanin is the pigment in skin and the more you have the darker you are. Melatonin is a hormone that the body makes to help regulate circadian rythmes.
6:13 - sharing a sigh then talking about eating vegetables and being grumpy. You're like a lovely old couple.
"Flying over the back of Russia" sounds like a euphamism for a kind of sex act that can't be described.
And Donald Trump pays a premium for it.
Soviet Russia does you

gotta give credit where credit is due. the audio is so clean in this video despite the obvious wind. Awesome.
Considering the obvious wind, that mic cover is really impressive.
Ignore the comments, you aren't going grey, you are just turning into a silver fox.
Like those mythical beings with super powers
Melatonin is legal in the Uk, but it has to be prescription.
+Kim Jong Un
This actually checks out. According to Wikipedia King Jong Un works part time in a Boots pharmacy in Herongate; which is not to be confused with Kim Jong-il who formerly worked in a Boots pharmacy in Heronsgate; note the "s", they are not the same place.
Source: I am well read floppy disc, hence the accent.
da wat
You can buy it online too but it's expensive! (I think you can only get private prescriptions though, so it's expensive either way - my doctor said it would actual be cheaper to get it online than get it prescribed!)
I wouldn't mess with it unless absolutely necessary anyway.
Both a friend and I tried it because we had issues falling asleep. Neither of us overdosed.
Yet, she was still quite sleepy and out of it the next day because of which she forgot to lock the bathroom door and a coworker walked in on her.
And it didn't help me fall asleep any faster but I also felt... off... (and not in a good way) for a day or two.
@@notthere83 ... are you guys seriously worried about overdosing on melatonin? It's essentially a supplement. The FDA in the US can't even prove the stuff works as provided. It's not like it's Ambien or Dramamine or something.
40 seconds in, camera's getting blown all over... audio is great! Killer mic there guys!

Has anybody noticed that Tom is going grey at an accelerated rate?
That plus his skin makes him look 50
If Grey was starting to go Tom it would be stranger.
+Leo Wattenberg (LEOXD) Only Matt is Gray!
+Peter Smyth Which makes the joke work in American!
I understand this is a joke, yet I just thought his hair was a really ashen/mousy blond. To be fair, he's in his mid-30s I believe.
Having actually binged the whole of season 2 yesterday evening with my wife, things now make much sense. Thank you.
It must be wonderful having people to watch Citation Needed with. I've tried getting so many people into it, just doesn't work.
I have wanted to make that spreadsheet for so long, I am glad that someone found the time to do it. Kudos to them for starting on the podcast episodes, as well.
+Lt litgeek Same here!
Did Tom unwittingly invent Untitled Goose Game years ago, but with a heron?
I think melatonin's legal in the UK with a prescription, either that or my pharmacy gives us it illegally.
Matt has such a dirty laugh. I love it
His laugh cleared my acne
Tom at the end of the video describing Untitled Goose Game 3 years before it released. Really missed the boat on that one.
- Realistic Heron Simulator
"I want to see the real game."
- Untitled Goose Game
"Perfection."
At least 2 fans waiting to meet you guys in Estonia! Willing to buy 2 pints for you nice lads! :)
realistic heron simulator sounds an awful lot like untitled goose game
We need Realistic Heron Simulator NOW!
So did I just hear Tom describe the plot of Untitled Goose Game 3-4 years before it was released at the end of this video?
YOU MISSED A GOLDMINE TOM WHY DID YOU SCRAP IT
i miss park bench:(
How have you not slapped Matt for his use of "up", "down" "left" and "right" for north, south, east and west?
From their audio podcast: "It's at the top right of bottom America." Meaning the northeast portion of South America.
Leap Of Faith I can't deal with the whole east, north etc thing either
@@joshuahadams to be fair, they're hardly fighter pilots, and maps are easier than globes.
Pretty sure left should be west and right should be east.
"Schiphol Airport is terrible."
Glad to hear it from a non-Dutch guy. Because as a Dutch guy, I have to agree with that fact. Schiphol IS terrible, mostly because of the crappy train station underneath it that closed like once a week due to false fire alarms going off which shut down the entire tunnel, and thus the entire access to Schiphol via train.
Any chance to add a t into Schiphol?
+Leo Wattenberg (LEOXD) I was just going to say of course it is horrible. It sounds like Shitpool airport!
That's because English speaking folks can't make the Sch-sound, so it's come out as sh. So Schiphol becomes Shiphol. Add in a t, and, well, you've already done that.
*laughs in Berlin-Tegel*
I can just imagine going on a trip with Matt handling the navigation!
“I had a point, let’s see if I can find it”
1 - these two (and the rest of Tech Dif) look like they would be a great laugh to hang out with.
2 - I live in Cornwall and getting anywhere from here is a pain. Put it this way you have to drive for 2+ hours to get to a motorway, or if you go on a train it takes 5 hours to get to London, 3 of which are spent going the first 100 miles....
This is beautiful joy and laughter! I love you for sharing it with me.
Well, 20 seconds in and I've already had to go look something up. That's par for the course here. On the bright side, I now know about Ken Dodd and the "tickling stick". Well done Matt and Tom, you've made me do the work to learn something.
Matts laugh is why the sun comes up in the morning
Did you see the blogger who travelled from Sheffield to Essex via Berlin because it was cheaper than direct ?
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-35424393
Yes: it's a nice example, but it does assume you value your time at around zero! - Tom
+Matt and Tom
I disagree, Tom. That guy had a four hour opportunity to explore a bit of Berlin. For me that is worth it because it combines at least two things that I enjoy, (flying and exploring new places), with the bonus of saving money and no real need to pack or plan for it. A long time ago I flew from where I lived in Newcastle upon Tyne to Newquay via Dublin and Gatwick. In Dublin I had several hours to look around. One of those flights cost only 2p. The whole thing along with return flights came to under £10. Seeing as I enjoy flying (I love boats, planes, trains and automobiles...) it is not actually too much trouble.
+Hayley Jeffs A 2p FLIGHT!!!?

Going out and doing exciting things absolutely works. I know it's made me smile so far -- thanks and more please!
Melatonin production is suppressed by the presence of blue light. We start producing in the presence of a red sky or setting Sun. This is why programs like F.LUX can be so helpful in this technological age. A good "cooling down" routine is important for good rest.
I'm really enjoying these, keep it up!
That was like working in the casino industry, we could manage a 12 hour shift, followed by several hours of drinking, grab a quick couple of hours sleep. Look like warmed up crap, right up until you hit the table, and it was like a light was turned on and you got down to working, which when dealing, is a bit like a performance, but one where the audience takes part, and is quite often drunk.
The worst part was the quick change overs, where you had an 8 hour gap between shifts, which seriously ate into the drinking time.
I think it is incredibly charming that Matt and one of the other Tech Diff guys (I think it was Gary) talk about geography that way.
This was amazing to watch. Not sure why but somehow I lost track two times and had to watch again.
Must have been a long day. Some serious giggles. You guys crack me up. Keep up the good work.
I love this series
There's melatonin in cherries if you need it, but I'm shocked the supplement's illegal in British.
Unless prescribed, yes (am Scottish, have been on it for insomnia reasons), though I believe that biomelatonin is legal? It's apparently faster-acting, probably significantly weaker. Melatonin is fine but it has a whole load of long-term possible side effects iirc.
It's what your body naturally makes when it's sleeping time (not so much if you're autistic) but it's not like a tablet can mitigate dosage time that well, so it makes sense that it's not strictly over-the-counter legal.
Polish has some brilliant words for the day before yesterday (two days ago) and the day after tomorrow, "przedwczoraj" and "pojutrze" respectively.
We have overmorrow and ereyesterday
My family & I looked at going to Edinburgh. One of the options was flying. The flight would have only taken 50 odd minutes from East Midlands airport, however, the flights alone were more expensive (£1500) than my recent all inclusive holiday to turkey for a week.
(£1300) For 5 people!
Melatonin is available on prescription in the UK, I have to take it to counter balance my ADHD tablets since they reduce my bodies production of melatonin.
...I need to check my meds. I already lack melatonin (though the tablets stopped working) an my sleep *did* get worse when I went on lisdexandtoomanyletters.
I read, maybe it was on QI, that hunger overrides tiredness. So to beat jetlag, you have to not eat around your travel, then synchronise your meal times.
I like this video, nice to see something more naturalistic and free flowing
I just learned how you got the scar on your left cheek. Great videos guys!
Sunlight does affect melatonin generation in the body.
It affects it by stopping it/reducing it when in the sun
Estonian here :) Can't wait to see what you will be filming here!
I love the ponds and parks it's way better than some dumb indoors set up
Most rambly video I've ever seen. Well done gents :-D.
Melatonin is prescription only in the UK, but you CAN import it legally.
It's so true that travel around Europe is cheaper than traveling through the UK. Whenever I travel somewhere on the continent, most of the travel money goes to taking the train to London or Birmingham than the actual plane ride.
How are you guys always so happy and giggly? It usually takes me 3-4 pints to get to that kind of state :D
...and we all love the rambles.
Keep up the good work ! :D
Wow, Tom looks great in grey hair!
Speaking of Schipol, I spent far too much time there a month and a half ago thanks to a baggage cart driver ramming into the flight that was supposed to get me back to the US.
Also, herons are awesome. Even without a chain letter backstory, I get excited over herons.
You guys should do a Q&A for one of these. Lightning round styles.
that gag at the end :D I died!
Matt's laugh is fantastic
Better than what couple of friends do, whenever someone spots a Heron, someone shouts Heron! and everyone has to applaud. And they do it always. And we have quite a few in the suburban areas...
I just realized how weird the flight versus train distinction is in the UK. In Canada in terms of price it's always bus
Guys, you are wonderful.
Me and my friends were at university in Leeds and Manchester. We wanted to go to a gig and thought about all travelling to London for it. It was a lot cheaper for us to fly to Munich for 4 nights and go to see the same band than it was to go to London for one night!
well that was a royal ramble

I'm on melatonin right now as I'm watching this. I should be asleep but now having two people talk about it less than an hour after I took it is the only thing I can think about.
Matt is my kindred spirit.
Another Estonian here, would love a chance to see you guys in Estonia. :)
When I went to America, about a 7 hour time difference. Only reason I wasn’t feeling so off was that it took me 20 hours to get there, a horrible 8hour layover in England, in the middle of the night, so I couldn’t go into London and like do something. And I traveled alone. So couldn’t sleep, cuz I needed to guard my bag. When I finally was in the USA, I only had to stay up for 4 hours (no sleep on the plane cuz a kid was kicking me) then I could sleep.
in 2017 i will have a one week holiday in sydney au. sydney au is 16 hours ahead of boston ma. it's a brainbreaker.
Melatonin is available in the UK, but it's prescription only. In the US and Canada, it's available OTC.
Melatonin is legal in the UK, however it is only available via prescription (its not an 'over the counter' ) due to it being a hormone or something like that. I would know, I had it prescribed by a paediatrician due to my inability to sleep when I was younger. It was only a small dose (something usually prescribed to a toddler) but it did help a lot.
love a good heron rant
As a person from Hong Kong, I approve this video.
Those photos went by slowly, so you could say you saw a Brady Heron
That mic is amazing!
SpySappingMyKeyboard I always thought it was a feather-duster until Matt said it was a mic. Hahaha
I can't imagine 200 miles being a long trip. That's 3 and a half hours (3 on a good highway, or 76 in traffic). I used to drive 10 or 11 hours once a month (and considered myself lucky that I was back on the east coast and could drive to Florida that easily. It was 18 hours from Texas!)
Come over to Canada, tonnes of beauty around here :D
I hereby appreciate affordable flights within Australia far more than I did previously. I always assumed that transport would be similarly affordable in the UK, except more so because the distances are shorter; evidently not.
I was looking at random flight for the hell of it. And I found the cheapest flight from one part of the U.K. To the other, and it was via Newark New Jersey, on United. Google flights is weird sometimes.
You can however, be prescribed Melotonin in the UK
I used to drive 250 miles each way every other weekend. My state alone is about that far across.
you may not be able to buy meltonin in the UK but it can be prescribed by a doctor for people with severe sleeping problems.
that feel when everyone in the comments is talking about how toms hair looks grayer in this video but you were just binge watching all his videos the other day from start to finish and you noticed the gradual graying.
Has anyone else sat on this park bench in Shenley?
On plane travel: In Labrador, It's cheaper to fly from Happy-Valley Goose-Bay to Paris, than it is to fly about the province.
There's a mall in Stockholm called Heron City
I am really missing the park bench. How about the quarantine bench in corona time?
Tom, are you gonna revisit the idea of electronic voting? You did a video on it on computerphile about a year ago, where you were pretty strongly against it, but in Estonia we can vote electronically and do a bunch of other stuff which it seems to be working fine.
Hey Tom and Scott can you please go to Latvia .
Matt was in HK? There should be a meetup!!
There was a bit on the news last week about it being cheeper to fly from Amsterdam airport via Dublin to Eindhoven airport than to take a train and bus ride there... The Netherlands isn't a big country and Amsterdam and Eindhoven are only ~100km apart, but it's cheaper to travel via Ireland.. ~_~
