One other thing I can add is that if you do a brand deal be sure you are talking to the actual company and not a representative because the company may not even know about you. This is what happened to me with Soylent.

Wordsnwood (Art Mulder) the oreolicking thing was a joke about a big scandal with a bunch of British vloggers. The advertising standards agency (I think) found a bunch of RUclipsrs being sponsored by oreos and not telling their audience, and people got pretty mad about it
Aidan Fuge they only had to say "thanks to oreos for making this video possible" in the description. Back then they didn't have to explicitly say that it was sponsored/an ad. They didn't break any rules on sponsored online content because there wasn't any so rules had to be made. Emma Blackery did a video about what happened with the videos.
When you watch a few of those "Big British vlogers" and think to yourself: "I'd much rather listen to you guys about those stuff than a few wankers without a GCSE or A levels"

Out of curiosity, I went to Tom's contact page. It was an enjoyable experience.
Especially the section on Merchandise where there was a phrase reading *please don't email me*.
If I got the equivalent of six month's wages in one fell swoop for a brand deal, I would grab onto it and not let go, squeezing it for all I could. "Selling out" beats poverty by quite a long shot.
On the other hand, if I had a more than comfortable income already, and didn't need any more than that, I would be more judicious in my brand recommendations, and only keep to those which I actually enjoy and find good use for. And there are plenty of things I regularly use that I would do that for.

I don't know if a million people didn't already say this, but at 3:18, that's in Chinese. Mandarin is a spoken dialect of Chinese. The written language for all the dialects of Chinese is the same.
Sidenote: My family's rabbit is named Biscuit. If we get another 2, we'll name them Bourbon and Custard. Or Matt and Tom.
One thing I really appreciate about Tom (and Matt! but I'm mostly referring to the other channel) is his commitment to honesty regarding things like sponsorship deals. I forget which video it was, but I know there was when where he explicitly stated that a company had paid for his flight or something, but had no editorial control. Similarly, he's implied that if he got paid to promote something that he would make the fact it was paid for very obvious. Whether he "sells out" or not, that integrity is appreciated.
