    A few years ago I rebuilt my 86 FXR and the most fun part of it was the wiring. Somebody was in there before me and they probobly had a roll of black wire and used it everywhere! I made it right. Even the pink wire for the Tachometer!

    I had a 2000 ultra classic. It started having electrical issues 18 yrs latter. When I turned to the right it would shut off. Not fun. Took it to my local Harley dealer and they tracked it down to some wires rubbing bare. The next yr it started doing the same thing. I decided to get rid of it and bought a 2019 street glide special. No regrets.

    So frustrating when you buy a brand new late model 1996 Road King with a 1996 owners manual and then try to follow the 1996 model wiring diagrams but your 1996 Road King is in fact fitted with a 1997 wiring harness. Well, initially it was frustrating for the dealer trying to sort out an electrical issue in my first ever Harley. Another tip - if the colours on your bike don't match the wiring diagram colours, you either are using the wrong year wiring diagram or your bike is fitted with a different year model harness or your just colour blind.

    Doc, if you're so inclined, I would very much like to know how oil travels through a Milwaukee 8. How oil gets up to the rocker arms and from there, back to the tank. I see the oil pump in the cam chest but how does oil get to the main crankshaft and push rod bearings. I understand that too much oil in the crankcase is bad news but have no understanding of how the motor's components assure that just the right amount of oil remains in the crankcase or even how it's returned to the tank.
    Thanks a lot.

Each has 4 wires (per the mfg: a white =negative, a yellow= turn signal, a red brake, and a black=tail light). Hi Doc , great info, I have a 2003 Softail Deuce, the security system is malfunctioning I would like to remove it completely., and I think I need to put a new ignition switch in as it seems to be very loose in internal part of the mechanism, could you please help advise?, I’ve just recently purchased this bike, and it seems to have some stupid issues with it, as it has not been looked after very, I do not have a lot of money to go and take it into a Harley dealership, as I’m retired and living in France, I wonder whether you could help please, regards Phil

    • @LowCountryHarleyDavidson
      @LowCountryHarleyDavidson  2 месяца назад +1

      I am sorry to say the security is in the Turn Signal Security Module. You can replace with a Standard HD Turn Signal Module. You have to includes this part because it is connected to the Ignition circuit. These parts are very hard to find. Not being made anymore. The other option is to replace the ignition system but that can get expensive. Hoping you have a carbarator. Find someone to help remove the ignition switch, disassemble and clean. That could help…..Doc

I don’t know six months ago when I got in there and I did something and then even on the connection there’s like a little white button I don’t know what that is and I can’t seem to find it anywhere, on a lot of the connections it has the wires going in and then it has looks like a button that you push. Hopefully you get back to me. Thank you again this video will help.

      I’ve cleaned every ground I think on this bike and I have the front off of it the cow where are you see the back of the radio and all the wires and all that and the seed off of it the side covers did the starter did the little green wire, cleaned every ground off the two poles that are underneath kind of welded to the frame I have and I have a back tail light and again I just redid the brakes but I had this problem before I did the brakes. I guess I lost the light maybe nine months ago where it was just a brake light and I have blinkers, but on the CVO the bags Have like little things that have lights in it. I don’t know I know I need to get the speedometer stuff fixed cause it’s got like 28,000 miles on it and I got a salad it’s the orange one and I would stay in condition all cleaned up. I’ll give it an eight out of a 10. I’m wondering what you think it would probably be worth rough estimate 2004 Screamin eagle 103 CVO Electra glide all the bells and whistles back room is flaking off the chrome and a couple places on the foot pads in this and that Scott cobra exhaust I’ll put my phone number on here. 727 902 9217 anyway thank you. HELP PLEASE. I'm wanting to convert my 97 xlc evo to a points ignition. I need a new coil (old one is shot) and I'm trying to figure out exactly what coil I need or if it matters/changes when switching to points? (As far as what ohm? Single or dual fire?). Doc, on the fxlrst there is a cover that is behind the air intake that covers the wires and some components.
    I removed that in order to install a V&H insight air cleaner. Is that cover necessary? I feel like I might be able to reinstall it but I’m not totally sure and somewhat concerned about water when I wash it mostly (although I dry it right away with the HD drier).
    Is that cover something I’d want to put back?

    The color codes are OK. But, the availability of the basic info is not really available unless you shell out $$$ and even then, you would not be guaranteed to get the real info. I am completely unimpressed by the fact that if electrical info is what you want, you have to play an expensive shell game to get that info. Realistically, the wiring changes very little year over year but, oh no, just to get that info via some service manual, you gotta buy the latest. Really now, wires are wires and nothing more. Yet, Harley makes you buy the latest schematics at a premium. Not happy with that.
