    I can across a couple in Iowa. The lady's bike was completely dead. No lights, would not do anything. They called HOG they could not get anyone to come out. I asked did you check fuses he said no. I pulled out the main fuse and it was ok. Put it back in and it must of rebooted the computer. Ran all the lights came on, ran. Off they went. Lucky

      My 06 ultra classic had a flaky 40 amp main fuse that caused the bike to shut down intermittently. HD couldn't find it. I replaced it and never had the problem again.

    • @RoadRushNation
      @RoadRushNation  11 месяцев назад +1

      They don’t occur that often. Thank goodness. You have to ask your dealer to perform them since many don’t do them automatically. This can be due to customers using other tuners and it can mess with that tune. So just ask your service manager. Ride safe my friend

    You can also put your bike into the diagnostic mode and just clear the codes (lots of RUclips videos on this trick). Another way is to pull the main fuse out for about 5 minutes, and it too will reset your ECM fault codes.

    • @RoadRushNation
      @RoadRushNation  Год назад +1

      Yes there’s many who show you how to clear codes. Bad thing about that is if you take it to the dealer now they have no codes to diagnose what happened and what is needed. This is much easier than pulling a fuse. Ride safe my friend

    That process resets the TGS to "0" - See: TT380A- October 16, 2008 - High Idle Complaints on 2008 Touring Models and later. "It is a necessary procedure anytime you replace ECM, TGS or Reflash the calibration to cycle the Ignition switch 4 times, waiting 10 full seconds after keying off between cycles, to relearn zero TGS position. Failure to do this may result in decreased throttle sensitivity." One way to avoid this is to allow the Motorcycle to go to a complete idle prior to turning it off on 2008 and later Models.

    I think this may help you
    Just reinstalled my Stock ECM on my '05 and I get no engine light and no Injector pump running. Battery was disconnected when I reinstalled. Is there a magic something I need to do when I reinstall the ECM. Checked the obvious, Battery and fuses...Any ideas?? Thanks Greg
    Just got off the phone with my Buddy at Harley and found out anytime that you disconnect the stock ECM from the system it has to relearn the password... Here's the process...I'll keep you posted..
    Harley ECM Password Learn Procedure
    When installing a new ignition or ECM on a security-equipped Harley there is a "Password Learn" procedure that must be performed. This applies to all Twin Cam and V-Rod models with factory security but may also apply to Twin Cam's with EFI. The TSM/TSSM and ECM have "learned" passwords that synchronize the control module with several other components. Once you remove a component from this chain the module shuts down and won't start. This is reported to only occur with EFI models but the new 2004 carbureted models demonstrate the same shut-down when changing the ignition module.
    Once you have installed the ignition module and reconnected the battery, perform the starting sequence as normal. The engine will cough once in an effort to start but will fail when the module shuts

    Once you have installed the ignition module and reconnected the battery, perform the starting sequence as normal. The engine will cough once in an effort to start but will fail when the module shuts
    off the fuel74%
    off the fuel.
    Special Note: During the Password Learning procedure the ignition will remain in the "On" position for an extended period of time (30+ minutes). While "On", power is supplied to the headlight thus draining the battery. If the battery charge drops below a certain level during the Password Learn procedure the process will cease and you will have to start over. To avoid this connect a trickle charger to the battery throughout the procedure.
    Download the Password Learn procedure in PDF for printing.
    Step Action Confirmation Notes
    1 Set Run switch to Run
    2 Turn Ignition key On-Off-On-Off-On-Off-On and then toggle the Left Turn Signal switch twice.
    3 Turn Ignition key Off-On Verify the Check Engine lamp and Security Lamp illuminate briefly and then turn off. Security lamp will not illuminate on non-security (TSM) Twin Cam models.
    4 Attempt normal start one time. Engine starts and stalls immediately. check engine lamp stays on. Password has not been learned and sets trouble code P1009, thus stopping fuel flow.
    5 Wait 10 seconds Security Lamp remains lit for V-Rod and TC88 with TSSM. Lamp will not be on for TC88 TSM models. ECM enters Password Learning mode for 10 minutes. Do Not cycle the ignition or disrupt power.
    6 Wait until Security Lamp turns off or a minimum of 10 minutes has passed.
    7 Quickly (within 2 seconds) turn Ignition key OFF-ON Security Lamp remains lit for V-Rod and TC88 with TSSM. Lamp will not be on for TC88 TSM models. 8 Wait until Security Lamp turns off or a minimum of 10 minutes
    has passed.
    Password Learning mode for 10 minutes. Do Not
    cycle the ignition or disrupt power. 9 Quickly (within 2 seconds) turn Ignition key OFF-ON Security Lamp remains lit for V-Rod and TC88 with TSSM. Lamp will not be on for TC88 TSM models.
    10 Wait until Security Lamp turns off or a minimum of 10 minutes has passed. Password Learning mode for 10 minutes. Do Not cycle the ignition or disrupt power.
    11 Quickly (within 2 seconds) turn Ignition key OFF-ON Security Lamp light and then turn off. Lamp will not be on for TC88 TSM models.
    12 Turn Ignition switch OFF. Wait 15 seconds. Turn Ignition switch ON and start engine to confirm the Password Learn Procedure is successful. Engine will start and remain running. If engine immediately stalls and fails to restart the procedure was not successful. Start over at step 1.
    The above steps must be timed and performed exactly as
    described. Anv deviation will require vou to start again from step 1.

    Does Harley Davidson have a permanent solution to fixing that problem that gurontee your bike won't shut off. If not then screaming eagle needs to make one that stays in the on position when you are in traffic and is guronteed never to cut off the ignition. That is actually a safety hazard and they need to fix this problem otherwise I ain't ever buying a new Harley. I will buy a Honda gold wing instead.

    There is an easier way to reset the ECM and find the fault code that caused the problem 1) with the bike off push and hold the trigger switch top back left switch control above left grip. Turn on bike it will show diagnostic in display push /release switch it will show fault code. Check website for code if not important ( low tire pressure) push and hold switch until it reads clear. All done.

    • @RoadRushNation
      @RoadRushNation  9 месяцев назад +1

      That clears the codes which you don’t want to do if you’re taking it to a dealer. If the code has an H behind it. That means it’s history and the bike isn’t currently having the issue. If there is a C behind the code it means it’s a current issue. If you clear the codes a mechanic has no idea what is happening with your bike. This doesn’t reset the ecm just the service codes. But if you’re cool with the issues after dropping $40-50k. They have a thing that’s called Research and Development Technology Division where they are supposed to test these things, yeah a hiccup with a few is expected but a constant problem where an update or new amp… etc etc.. is needed is ridiculous.
