the idea of two recycled brellas is really cool, its kind of like other games where some abilities have multiple uses and recharge on their own timers. its a type of cooldown management that doesnt really exist in as much in splatoon and adds something new and unique to a weapon that really needs it
Had the idea for a new main weapon, an "Inverse Brella." It's an inside-out brella that has bad shot spread, but it can "eat" bombs in front of it to restore shield HP. Would probably end up broken but I just wanted to share my stupid little idea. Have a nice day.
I think it needs something else if it can only eat bombs but the idea is interesting to say the least. Maybe it could get a wide shot spread like Wellstring for good paint since the shield acts like a funnel going outward rather than a precise nozzle at the end of the shield.
This class is awesome, and I find Undercover to be a ton of fun. I just wish that it had more Specials than “Suicide Ride” and “IRL Psychic Damage.” I also wish Recycled had a better name. Recycla? Paperella? Parashot? Bambrella sounds good.
As a diehard Vunder main I VERY much agree that we need the shield bump combo. I'd be fine with them not giving us a max damage increase as long as we got a minimum damage increase for better consistency in damage output with grazing shots.
Something I had in mind for Bambrella: Have its base shot be 85 damage normally, but when your shield goes up, you are still able to shoot, but max damage is reduced to 45 for a single shot, which is fired as soon as your shield is brought up. When the shield is launched damage is returned to 85. The 45 shot is only fired once, but you still have some protection from your shield. Basically it gives the Bamboozler Pewpew to Bambrella.
I love the idea of ink storm on a brella, like it’s ironic but also good at the same time. I think my dream undercover kit would be burst storm, but cooler would be fun too
Cant wait for the Splatoon devs to completely watch this video and later make a statement saying "we changed every weapon the way we think our players would want" and make absolutely no changes to Brellas
Newsflash- the devs don’t care about charas opinion. Like they do care abt the playerbase as a whole, especially in Japan, and will do their best to try to make changes that players want in general, but nobody in their right mind will make decisions about changing a game with over 13 million players based off of one persons opinion, even if, like chara, their opinion is reasonable, because Nintendo are trying to cater to the maximum number of players. Also, extremely high chance nobody from Nintendo will even see this video, let alone take action on it. Sorry for the ramble, and just to be clear I think charas ideas for rebalancing the class are good ideas, from both casual and competitive standpoints, I just think Nintendo ‘glossing over the video’ is to be expected and we shouldn’t expect them to ever make changes based on one persons opinion.
All I want from Brellas are 2 things: - more base ink efficiency without needing more than 1 main of it or 4 subs of it - reduced shot spread so more of the bullets can hit the target
Splat brella used to be my favorite weapon/class. But it feels so much worse to play in 3 I don’t really touch it anymore. *sniff* you’re still number one in my heart
I feel like the only real thing holding brellas back shield-wise is the terrible netcode, Recycle aside, and the main thing that's bad about them right now is their damage. It feels terrible trying to fight anything and missing a single shot, because 90% of the time it means you just die before you can get your shield up or fire another, especially on Tent and Recycled right now. I'd love to see UCB become 15-45 and Vbrella be more consistent with its damage (maybe not 90, but at least 84-85 max damage so it can combo with just a single pellet), and as for Tent and Bambrella, I think Tent could use a small 1-shot range increase (or just better white ink frames, I'd take that too) and Bambrella could just use better paint so it doesn't need to launch its shield to move.
333x this. Brellas could get god-tier kits and overwhelming buffs, but if the actual gimmick of the weapon doesn't work because of a little lag, then it's all for naught. Imagine if blaster indirects didn't hit cause your opponent didn't see it on their screen. What if chargers didn't one-shot because it was only 99% charged for the enemy? If brella canopies functioned as they should, then they'd be a solid weapon class. That, and maybe reduce the damage Splatanas and Stringers do to the canopy. It's SO much.
The brella class is maybe the coolest, most interesting of all the weapon classes in my opinion, I really hope they get buffed enough to see plenty of use, and we get to see even more fun and unique brella kits and main weapons in the future. I thought of a cool idea for a new brella. What about one that also has multiple shields, similar to Chara’s proposed version of recycled, but the shields it launches out quickly stop moving and remain on the battlefield stationary for a little while, sort of like a mini splashwall dispenser. They might have to make it bad at fighting in order to lean into the gimmick while keeping it balanced, but I think an idea like that, well executed, could be really fun and tactically interesting
I love the changes!!! This video series is one of my favorite so please keep making them!! I think shooters should be next. Keep up the great work prochara team!!!
Hear me out: Splat brella doesn’t need it’s old damage back, it needs its damage multipliers turned down so the sheild - it’s whole identity - becomes a real strength. Outside of shooters, dualies, and splatlings, every other class either bypasses the sheild or breaks it EXTREMELY easily. There is no reason the shield should be breaking in 2 or 3 hits, it might as well not even be there. Splatanas have crazy multipliers, out range , out speed, out damage it, and the charged slash is extremely unreliable to block thanks to hit boxes. Blasters, rollers, and sloshers should be able to get around the sheild, but why can they brute force break the shield in 2-3 hits? It’s not fair.
That double shield concept for recycle is NUTS, but in a pretty cool, and unique way! If there were to be a Splatoon 4, this would be a GREAT concept to be put into use for the brella class, even taking into consideration that the next game will be even more hectic than Splatoon 3, and you have to stay on your toes the whole time!
i honestly think that the recycled brella rework idea could be genuinely super interesting, and allow for a playstyle i dont think we've seen in the splatoon series before, that being a parry playstyle. the combo of two shields and no stun when getting the brella broken would allow it to be a more aggressive, high risk brella that can give high reward if you can have the game knowledge to know when to flare the shield and shoot and when to dodge/manage brella cooldown. a part of me wants to give it some unique mechanic that completely reworks it; i.e. have it so the shield flares IMMEDIATELY, and putting it back down/launching it puts it through a bit more lag than usual, but if it is destroyed you can immediately act again, meaning that if you can guess correctly and parry shots you get rewarded with some INSANE burst damage, but if the shield is baited out, then you could be in danger. i think it would be a super cool high-risk-high-reward weapon, but thats more like an insane idea i had rather than just a normal rework lol (also please keep in mind im not a competitive player, so i wouldnt know how to balance this or even if the concept would be balanced. i just think its neat.)
I still think the most important thing for brellas is making sure the shield actually works. It still feels awful to play when everything can still kill you while just completely ignoring the shield. Chargers, blasters, and bombs killing you because it lagged and the shield didn't protect you. Splatanas and sloshers completely disregarding the shield. Stringers and splatanas at range obliterating the shield. It's just not balanced when the central mechanic nearly always fails.
There is many things I wish to say about Chara saying “Tenta Brella is perfect as is”, but I think I’ll leave that for the video Thire is planning on making.
I think a brella that charges up a canopy depending on how long you hold it would kick a lot of trash. The brella would begin to spin the canopy, and then when you let go it launches with speed and damage based on how much ink it consumed. Essentially a secondary projectile mode. But all of it's moot when the netcode lets you die through shield on top of never reverting the S2 nerfs.
a crazy add-on, what if storm's healing did the same for the shields? how much it matters and would actually do anything is questionable but could be fun and interesting. also wonder on thoughts of the others being able to shoot while the canopy is open but you pay a bonus ink charge(an extra half of or full normal amount) for every shot.
One of my biggest complaints about Recycled Brella is that it barely even feels like a Brella due to the shield being basically non-existent in fights. Having 2 shields not only gives it extra HP, but they can be used as extra distraction as well. I'd argue this is still balanced, as the extra shield will increase the risk of damage from bombs for teammates unaware of it. I still really want a Folding Brella that works like Squeezer or Flinza.
Considering Recycle is my favorite salmon run brella, I think it being able to launch 2 shields would be extremely strong and fun since the shield deals 100 damage and it's already good at clearing crowds. Plus, the main gun still has amazing damage for boss killing, so it would be an even better multitasker.
This is EXACTLY what I want from Brellas! I miss S2's vanilla Brella so much, and these would not only be viable, but more fun to play! I hope the devs do this, honestly.
I feel like most of the brella's issues come from poor ink efficiency so that could be a simple fix. But here's some kits I want to see for the brellas: Splat brella - Burst Bomb/Inkstorm Burst Bomb is op, sure, but its decrease in damage would probably be irrelevant with that sub, and Inkstorm for obvious reasons Undercover - Dart/Zipcaster Dart is underrated and would help its inability to deal with longer ranged enemies and Zipcaster with a shield could allow for some crazy shenanigans while also helping the undercover close some gaps Tenta brella - Toxic mist/Cooler While not great, toxic mist would not only double down on the tent's area denial, it's also a fun concept of debuffing enemies in addition to cooler. And it's not like tent needs a sub weapon when it has that shield Recycled - Fizzy bomb/Kraken Recycled brella has a bad kit but with the new kit I'm really coming around to it, and Fizzy bomb's versatility works well with recycled's flexibility, and kraken would be a good fit, and the shield could buy enough time to cover kraken's start up. At this point I doubt we're getting 3rd kits but I hope we see these at some point
One idea I had for Recycled would be to make the shield actually deal considerable damage (like maybe 50 or something) Think about it: It launches, moves and also regenerates extremely quickly What good are all these attributes if you can't use them for defense? They WOULD however be extremely useful for offense With actual damage, opponents would have to either move around or focus on and shoot down the shield, which would give you an opportunity to catch them off-guard And really, with just 200 HP on a pretty big target, I don't think many weapons would have a hard time getting rid of the launched shield if they didn't wanna eat 50 damage
I had honestly thought that was the angle they were going to go with it when it was first unveiled. Making the launched canopy an actual weapon you had to avoid.
Cycle is very interesting in that I was never that sure on how to buff it. I thought of cycling the shield faster (2.5s to 1.5s) and lightweight but I was never too sure. Two shields is a really cool idea that I sadly don’t think it’s possible with my current abilities (or lack there of) with modding :(. Would be awesome in execution tho. Great video, and thank you for the kit ideas!
I was so excited for the recycled brella on its announcement and was let down so hard. I was absolutely thinking it should've gotten rain for its second kit and was let down again. These changes would actually make me intrigued again.
I personally would like to see Undercover Brella get to keep their full run speed when strafing and the ability to constantly paint its feet while the Brella is open to make hard to lock down, like a spy movie hero.
The jumping buff helps with that somewhat! I often jump-strafe through enemy ink and it was a much bigger buff for the weapon than a lot of folks reckoned it would be. It makes it much easier to move and get to safety while under fire now.
Dynamo roller should be able to delete bombs on contact. That way it wouldn’t be completely helpless if someone throws a bomb at its feet mid swing, and instead can delete the bomb even if it means wasting the swing to target the bomb.
I was hoping that the brella added to S3 was canopy focused in terms of being able to produce up to 3 canopies with less HP and quick detaching. It would have been an interesting weapon to cover turf, yourself or team-mates. Recycle is similarly canopy based playstyle if done right, but a multi-canopy based brella was a promising addition to the brellas. And honestly speaking I would fully support your ideas for Recycle.
@@notimportant1659 absolutely false. If you know how to use the Vunder kit it's actually MUCH more aggressive than the Sunder kit. It just requires frequent aggressive use of your mines and being mindful of your reefslider end positions so you don't leave yourself exposed during endlag.
@@FortyTwoBlades for a weapon that kills in 3 slow shots, aggression doesn’t mean much. Torpedo is already a better sub than mine in general. Obviously better on a tier list doesn’t mean it’s good for every weapon ,but with underBella, t’s combo synergy is better, its location uses are still intact, and it’s still good for assist. Which in undercover’s case that location and assist power are especially good because it’s going to be playing more of an assist role in general.
@@FortyTwoBlades mines do it no favours. It's not a weapon that can open opponents up by itself, it is by design defensive, so it needs something to engage with. If opponents can just ignore it until a big gun or a spontaneous tag-team can clean it up, UC achieves nothing. And Reefslider is just about the least synergetic special there can be with it, overextending with a weapon that is undisputed worst at handling multiple opponents at once.
@@TheLaXandro Mines are an important part of its kit and are essential for reducing its TTK. Running forward to draw aggro and dropping a mine or two that they get kited into means you drop to a 2-shot or 1-shot. Reefslider simply requires you to look for opportunities that WON'T leave you exposed and not make bad plays with it. If you're constantly getting killed in the end lag, you're using it poorly. Don't just think about what the explosion is going to do, but what the POSITION is going to do. If you can't land in a safe spot, don't pop it. Undercover takes fights best from angles off the objective line and reefslider is a good mobility aid for getting you there safely. Your job isn't to be a brawler or assassin so much as a saboteur, and you should be trying to get the enemy to waste as many resources (including specials, ink, health, time, positioning, or attention) as possible. It can absolutely take on multiple opponents at once under certain circumstances, most especially staggered 2v1s where a second player comes in to help the first you engaged with. The splat/assist shield healing dynamic gives you the boost needed to handle those kinds of engagements, and even in some simultaneous 2v1s you're able to drop a mine to hit both and then take them both out before they can drag you down. The reduction in TTK mines give are a tremendous boon to the weapon and I honestly don't like being without them despite the lack of a poking sub. All this said and while I don't consider myself a remarkable player I do run Opening Gambit on my main Vunder gear set and often get top splatter up in S+ and X rank matches. It's a fine weapon and it's just that most people don't get along with its best playstyle.
Given the reveal in the trailer and how it plays in salmon run i definitely think the launching the shield is the point of recycled brella, meant to create openings to close the gap to get a kill. You could rebalance it into a brawler with a fast moving shield that can be used more as cover for movement to flank rather than strictly to wall out opponents. You could also decrease the time between shots to help with this to make it a threat if you ever let it get close.
I've thought that recycled having an uncapped turning speed while flaring the shield would also be pretty cool, it'd be an overall small change like undercover jumping, but with how much it uses shield launch in general and as a movement tool I think it'd be cool if it could flare the shield then flick directions quickly to choose exactly what direction to launch it
Good idea. The one problem I would have with Splatoon's balance is the lack of stronger changes for weaker weapons. It a particular shame with the new brella because although it does more damage in practice this is due to the tighter spread which makes it in turn harder to paint and hit shots. A range buff is an interesting idea and separates it out from standard Brella more. I do find the weapon to be slightly less interesting than the other new weapons. If it was good at launching shields quickly then this would be more fun and still be unique. The most obvious point is that Splat Brella and Undercover Brella need a damage buff. They should be better at fights than they are now and this is fair in a game that is far faster with more powerful specials than before.
Ok hot take: Recycled Brella’s flimsy shield in exchange for the fast recharge time can believe-it-of-not survive a lot more than a regular Brella. Think of its shield not as a conventional shot-blocking tool, but an anti-one-shot tool. You get basically an extra life if you shield it just right, allowing you to tank a charger shot, trizooka shot, any variety of bombs, etc, you get the picture. Sure normal Brella can do that too, but Recycled’s fast recharge makes this type of survival much more reliable. Chargers in particular *really* struggle trying to kill this thing because their whole class’s identity is one-shotting. And hell-with the sub bombs in particular, you can “defuse” a bomb for practically free since you get your shield back so fast. On top of that you get a free mobility tool. This might’ve been a factor as to why Recycled Brella is the way it is, and you know what, I now believe this weapon doesn’t need a lot of reworks. And I say this as someone who‘s on their way to 5*ing the MkII Recycled
I was thinking for the recycled brella to lean more heavily into the DPS niche. Such as making the launched brella be faster, and allowing for oneshota at close range in exchange for a wider spread.
I honestly have come around to love the sorella undercover brella. The special sucks, yes, But the amount of times my torpedoes either made a perfect distraction, allowed me to combo easily, dislodge opponents or simply paints is unbelievable. The shield allows me to confront players straight on and even sometimes several players at once and thanks to the many pellets it almost certainly inks my adversaries feet. Not enough damage for sure, and a pretty bad special but.. I love this weapon nonetheless. And I will keep playing it loud and proud.
Now try to learn good mine placement with Vunder and watch your TTK go way down! Especially there are certain drops on most maps you can dump one or both mines under to consistently catch folks with and then finish the job with the main weapon, let alone what you can do once you learn the "do's and don'ts" of reefslider usage. I promise that all of the fun you're having now will be made even better once you learn proactive trap usage! @Atelier_nia has great footage for Undercover usage, both Vunder and Sunder, and Kyle Akers (Professor Kyle) has some good English language videos showing good techniques.
@@FortyTwoBlades But why would I? I understand traps can be fun, but when I played the normal undercover brella and tried to get good with it it just didn't.. really click. Mines and reef slider just got me killed again.. and again... And again. I like Sunder. ^^ I'm gonna keep Sunder.
@@TOFFY-kd7pe fair enough! It just does force you to play much more distantly/passively. I bothered to five-star it and went for gold-badging Screen but ultimately switched back to Vunder and immediately saw my numbers improve, but if Sunder is more your playstyle then stick to it! It's definitely a weapon--regardless of kit--that rewards one-tricking.
@@FortyTwoBlades I honestly find the torpedo and rush method so damn fun- in part because no one on earth expect this weapon to approach with such determination XD I be throwing my torpedo, and immediately landing a first hit If my opponent moves too much, the inked ground, torpedo explosion, and approach makes the main weapon take them out If they attack me, I'm shielded and the torpedo will blast them dead If they go for the torpedo, it gives me enough time to shoot them down. It's so fun. It really is. Triple gold medals nearly every time XD Seeing me get "best splatter overall" or something knowing I have a bottom tier weapon makes me so happy.
@@TOFFY-kd7pe knowing your weapon matchups really makes it so fun when you're against a favorable opponent lol -- one of my favorite tricks is running down trizooka users while they're mid-special 'cause you can tank a single shot and then down them before they can pull off the next. I genuinely think that as long as people are willing to get creative with the kits and how you use them the weapon is very viable. My biggest issue with torpedo is just how ink-hungry it is and how many white frames you get after chucking it -- it meant that if I was trying to take on more than one opponent at once I'd often run out of ink. So I'd often end up in situations of having to wait for someone to get isolated for a 1v1 where I'd have enough ink to clinch the fight then recover without being jumped. And that was using optimized gear that maximized the shots I'd get after throwing.
I think it would be cool for a new Brella to have it be one of those water balloon fillers. The shield is 8 balloons that, when shot, explode and deal damage and paint. If the shield is big then that means it’ll create a risk factor when fighting it once the player launches it
I know new concepts for brellas aren’t in the reworking realm, but a brella that can deflect shots and maybe bombs back at opponents could be a cool idea or could possibly carry over to the recycle brella, giving it a unique fighting style.
You mentioning how Armor in 2 lowered Blaster and Charger useage and allowed Brella to eat my damage made my realize something else: I think part of the reason Stamp sucks is because without armor it really sucks at stomaching hits. This isn’t the only problem with Stamp (there are a lot), but if Zip can have armor I don’t see why Stamp couldn’t
If 2 shields is not realistic, tbh, just buff its HP and give it the Undercover trait (getting your shield back every time you get a kill/assist) Now hot take of mine, but I’d buff its HP not to 150, but to 240 (reference to the "24" in its full name)
Honestly I think tent should also get its old damage back🤭, And that to differ recycled from splat even more, recycled should get 93 or 95 dmg so brella can get its 90 And this is on on top all the changes you listed🤭
Brella original damage? Yes absolutely thank you. Undercover definitely needs a better kit I agree. Tenta is pretty much fine as is, just maybe a few tweaks like you said. Just one question about recycle, how would it show both brellas visually?
i think undercover should, when the shield is down, do 60 damage and when it is up do 40. you could be risky and try and get two 60 damage attacks without the shield for more reliable damage or you can try and get the perfect 100 damage with the 60 + 40 consecutive shots. that way the weapon would incentivize fighting without spamming the shield whilst give it a little bit of actual slaying power.
As a Vunder main I wouldn't be opposed to that. It would definitely give more reason to use shield flaring on it instead of just always having the shield up, namely for your first shot out of the ink. The first shot does always fire before the canopy is up so if that was just always the 60 damage shot it'd mean you could ambush folks a little easier but if you were caught while in the middle of inking you'd have to make the call of dropping your shield for the improved damage and possibly get taken down in the process or go for the slower TTK with your shield still active.
There should be a high mobility brella without a shield that does very high damage and has a potential one shot up close, but its overall range is fairly lackluster Brellas are basically Splatoon’s shotguns and I think it would be fun to have one that really leans into it!
An idea I had to make Splat Brella more consistent without stepping on Recycled's toes as the 'high damage brella' was to keep the max damage at 81 but increase the damage per pellet. So: - Pellet damage increased from 16.2 -> 20.3 (Maximum damage remains unchanged at 81). - Maximum number of pellets that deal damage decreased from 5 -> 4. Also, for Recycled, especially if it were to get double shields, it needs an ink efficiency buff. Launching both shields would be 30% of your ink tank with nearly a full second of white ink frames each. And this is on a weapon that already only gets 11 shots. It would also offer some gear freedom for more QR or mobility, both of which this weapon loves. Personally, I'd also love to see it become a lightweight. I don't mind it being fragile if it can at least also be evasive. And, once again, gear freedom. (Though, I don't see this change actually happening considering its range and damage.)
For Undercover, I think a healthier buff besides the shield HP buff would be to increase the shield health regen when it's down. This makes it less of a noob killer because Undercover players would be more incentivized to close their shield to gain more HP back, which good Undercover players already do to mix up their movement, give more strafe speed, and give their shield more survivability. I would change it from 0.5 HP per frame (30 HP per second) to 0.833 HP per frame (50 HP per second). This makes it so Undercover's shield HP regen is the same as when its shield is broken, which is still worse than other brellas since they regain HP faster than it takes for their shield to regenerate.
Undercover has truthfully been my favorite weapon, even during launch day with pre-buff splashdown and ink mine and before it got the shield regen. I have a really weird opinion where I'd want Undercover to be more of a skirmisher than a flat out support. Personally, the only two changes I'd make for the main weapon is for it to do 45 damage a shot, but increase its fire rate by 2 frames, so it can finally kill just under a second. I wouldn't touch the shield as the undercover is better at combat already. As for a third kit, either burst bomb/splat bomb and Ink Storm, that way it can tank super well with the healing effect of Ink Storm, and promotes the flaring of its shield.
I've always thought that undercover could at least be fun with zipcaster, it helps it's mobility allowing it to be more aggressive and it can protect the landing with the canopy
I don't think mobility has really ever been an issue for it. It cuts paths nicely enough that I'm often frontlining in Rainmaker to clear the way for the carrier.
I strongly agree with everything in this video (except bambrella having 85 damage). In fact, undercover having 250hp is something I wanted since the day or week after I found out its shield only had 200hp. But I swear to god, 45 damage is NOT. ENOUGH. at the very least it should do 60 damage, not f*ckin’ 45.
Torp uses SO MUCH ink and has such bad white frames that it always means full commitment any time you throw it or you're gonna' get caught without any ink left. While five-starring Sunder I found myself getting #1 Ink Consumer a lot and it was really a downer.
@@FortyTwoBlades That's exactly why I don't use it. A lot of my friends, one in particular that does comp stuff in their off-time, are always surprised when I tell them I've found way more success in setting up traps and stuff with just one ink mine, as opposed to one torp. Because there's no ink left to throw down another torp, _normally._ Even with ink saver sub chunks. Being able to have burst bomb, something that would help with immediate damage to follow up with, is incredibly important imo for this weapon. I've five-starred the Vunder, but have strayed away from Sunder for that reason. It just feels so awful to use.
@@LumeanTV yeah I five-starred both and going back to Vunder was a breath of fresh air. It really is a MUCH more aggressive kit if you aren't careless with your 'sliders and learn how to use mines offensively. I often get top splatter on Vunder and am able to hunt so actively with it that I like to run Opening Gambit on my main gear set. I think people who were claiming that Sunder had a kit that would let it "fight better" never learned to use their mines properly or how to look for advantageous opportunities for 'slider where they wouldn't just die in endlag. On Vunder I really like running two subs of Ink Saver (Sub) so I can drop two mines immediately with a full tank and still have some shots left over.
@@FortyTwoBlades it really is. I'm so disappointed they didn't give back splashdown to Vunder. I'm okay with reef though. It's not... Terrible. I would just rather have an immediate jump rather than a startup kind of special and it was something I ran well in splatoon two, I think. Sunder is definitely the passive kit, fitting into a more passive and "hanging back" kind of play style. You'd think I'd probably get the hang of it since I play mid/backlines a good aamount, but I just can't wrap my head around this thing. Even after watching what to could to try and get better with it. My friend did share that they didn't really know how to use ink mines, but it's not super hard. Using them in choke points or to try and predict where enemies might drop for a flank is super important. Even if you don't splat them, you'll know where they're going at least. I do wish we had three though, ngl. Like how beakons have a three beacon limit.
@@LumeanTV 110% agreed. I loved Splashdown on Vunder in 2, but do genuinely love Reefslider for the mobility applications it has. It's especially nice for zipping across mid when there's a charger pinning down movement because you can move from cover to cover fast enough to reasonably get to them and harass them from behind even if they see you coming. One of the things I love about Undercover is a lot of the strats are a lot like in sport fencing where it's about managing your footwork, timing, and distance, and doing things like deliberately setting or breaking rhythms can make or break the outcome of an engagement. The Reefslider ends up being like a "fleche" in fencing where you're able to pull a sudden maneuver at a pace that was unexpected, but is similarly high-commitment. I could see a burst/splashdown combo working well. I'd personally like to see autobomb + cooler and/or line marker + ink storm. Autobomb would have been the better match than torp for Undercover I think, since it's not as ink-hungry and still provides the benefits of scouting and having lethal potential.
I can’t wait for 8 shields to be launched at me by a team full of recycle

Had the idea for a new main weapon, an "Inverse Brella." It's an inside-out brella that has bad shot spread, but it can "eat" bombs in front of it to restore shield HP. Would probably end up broken but I just wanted to share my stupid little idea. Have a nice day.
People would just not through bombs at it then? They would just shoot it
I think it needs something else if it can only eat bombs but the idea is interesting to say the least. Maybe it could get a wide shot spread like Wellstring for good paint since the shield acts like a funnel going outward rather than a precise nozzle at the end of the shield.

This class is awesome, and I find Undercover to be a ton of fun. I just wish that it had more Specials than “Suicide Ride” and “IRL Psychic Damage.”
I also wish Recycled had a better name. Recycla? Paperella? Parashot? Bambrella sounds good.
As a diehard Vunder main I VERY much agree that we need the shield bump combo. I'd be fine with them not giving us a max damage increase as long as we got a minimum damage increase for better consistency in damage output with grazing shots.
I have been asking for the bump to be buffed since launch T-T
Something I had in mind for Bambrella:
Have its base shot be 85 damage normally, but when your shield goes up, you are still able to shoot, but max damage is reduced to 45 for a single shot, which is fired as soon as your shield is brought up. When the shield is launched damage is returned to 85. The 45 shot is only fired once, but you still have some protection from your shield. Basically it gives the Bamboozler Pewpew to Bambrella.
I love the idea of ink storm on a brella, like it’s ironic but also good at the same time. I think my dream undercover kit would be burst storm, but cooler would be fun too
logi really did super well on the editing for this video, the camera angles and the smoothness is really nice
None...of the umbrellas...have rain...? The...umbrellas...oookay developers...
can’t wait for the splatoon devs to completely gloss over this video and make absolutely zero changes
Edit: it’s a joke. you can go now.
Cant wait for the Splatoon devs to completely watch this video and later make a statement saying "we changed every weapon the way we think our players would want" and make absolutely no changes to Brellas
well their Japanese so I don’t see how they could understand this
Newsflash- the devs don’t care about charas opinion.
They don't watch RUclips videos.

Me playing: Big swing, rapid blaster pro, snipers, brellas, splatana wiper, sblast and stringers... Yeah its sucks
@@aperson7011also the shield can kill you because of a bomb
Absolutely
Keep up the great work prochara team!!!
been loving your intros lately chara!
totally agree about these changes, hopefully they do SOMETHING to brellas before S4!
I LOVE THE EDITING IN THIS VIDEO SO MUCH THE STREET FIGHTER MUSIC THE KINGDOM HEARTS 2 REFERENCE 🔥🔥🔥
Hearing the Dudley theme had me bopping right away.
Sidenote Chara I’ve loved the intros of your recent videos! They feel so cinematic and so well done!
Feel like the Bella class just need to remove the damage multiplier on the shield to even the play field .
I’m just now realizing, is there even a single brella with ink storm? Why do the umbrellas not have rain as a special, it would be so perfect 😭
I do like the possible comedy of breaking a brella's shield only for them to reduce, reuse, recycle another shield.
Brother... I saw this and thought is was the mid-season patch and was about to cry of hapiness😭
a crazy add-on, what if storm's healing did the same for the shields? how much it matters and would actually do anything is questionable but could be fun and interesting.
also wonder on thoughts of the others being able to shoot while the canopy is open but you pay a bonus ink charge(an extra half of or full normal amount) for every shot.
Chara doing good with that third strike music
We were here before it was edited from sheild
Super appreciate the Kingdom Hearts reference 🤣

Everybody in the comments talking about stuff like double shield for recycled brella and allat:
My brain at 2:15:
Plus, the main gun still has amazing damage for boss killing, so it would be an even better multitasker.
tenta should have either more pellet or more damage per pellet,or Just make the shot tighter
This is EXACTLY what I want from Brellas! I miss S2's vanilla Brella so much, and these would not only be viable, but more fun to play! I hope the devs do this, honestly.
in an ink storm brellas should get extra buffs and be immune to enemy ink storms
peak editing for this channel very silly funny
I feel like most of the brella's issues come from poor ink efficiency so that could be a simple fix. But here's some kits I want to see for the brellas:
Splat brella - Burst Bomb/Inkstorm
Burst Bomb is op, sure, but its decrease in damage would probably be irrelevant with that sub, and Inkstorm for obvious reasons
Undercover - Dart/Zipcaster
Dart is underrated and would help its inability to deal with longer ranged enemies and Zipcaster with a shield could allow for some crazy shenanigans while also helping the undercover close some gaps
Tenta brella - Toxic mist/Cooler
While not great, toxic mist would not only double down on the tent's area denial, it's also a fun concept of debuffing enemies in addition to cooler. And it's not like tent needs a sub weapon when it has that shield
Recycled - Fizzy bomb/Kraken
Recycled brella has a bad kit but with the new kit I'm really coming around to it, and Fizzy bomb's versatility works well with recycled's flexibility, and kraken would be a good fit, and the shield could buy enough time to cover kraken's start up.
At this point I doubt we're getting 3rd kits but I hope we see these at some point
One idea I had for Recycled would be to make the shield actually deal considerable damage (like maybe 50 or something)
Think about it:
It launches, moves and also regenerates extremely quickly
What good are all these attributes if you can't use them for defense?
They WOULD however be extremely useful for offense
With actual damage, opponents would have to either move around or focus on and shoot down the shield, which would give you an opportunity to catch them off-guard
And really, with just 200 HP on a pretty big target, I don't think many weapons would have a hard time getting rid of the launched shield if they didn't wanna eat 50 damage
I had honestly thought that was the angle they were going to go with it when it was first unveiled. Making the launched canopy an actual weapon you had to avoid.
Chara is goated
Now here’s a crazy idea: undercover brella, but the shield has tenta brella durability
How would you beat it?
@@spaceace9103 sneak attack, maybe? Dualies and brushes would be good at that

Logi's editing is so good
I was so excited for the recycled brella on its announcement and was let down so hard.
I laughed five times when Chara said, "Should Brella get its old damage back? The answer is yes!"
I wish the "when shield launched a weight class is dropped" made it into this video but still amazing changes
Unpopular opinion: OG Undercover brella is goat😂
Torpedo makes Sorrella better though
@@notimportant1659 absolutely false. If you know how to use the Vunder kit it's actually MUCH more aggressive than the Sunder kit. It just requires frequent aggressive use of your mines and being mindful of your reefslider end positions so you don't leave yourself exposed during endlag.
@@FortyTwoBlades for a weapon that kills in 3 slow shots, aggression doesn’t mean much. Torpedo is already a better sub than mine in general. Obviously better on a tier list doesn’t mean it’s good for every weapon
,but with underBella, t’s combo synergy is better, its location uses are still intact, and it’s still good for assist.
I was watching SF3 related content and then i click in this video and the intro is also SF3😂😂😂 i love it❤
Given the reveal in the trailer and how it plays in salmon run i definitely think the launching the shield is the point of recycled brella, meant to create openings to close the gap to get a kill. You could rebalance it into a brawler with a fast moving shield that can be used more as cover for movement to flank rather than strictly to wall out opponents. You could also decrease the time between shots to help with this to make it a threat if you ever let it get close.
I've thought that recycled having an uncapped turning speed while flaring the shield would also be pretty cool, it'd be an overall small change like undercover jumping, but with how much it uses shield launch in general and as a movement tool I think it'd be cool if it could flare the shield then flick directions quickly to choose exactly what direction to launch it
Awsome, i never thought about a double shield gimmick
Yes Give Brela Damage back. (Side Note: Dudley theme had me grooving)
The special sucks, yes,
But the amount of times my torpedoes either made a perfect distraction, allowed me to combo easily, dislodge opponents or simply paints is unbelievable.
I'm gonna keep Sunder.
@@FortyTwoBlades I honestly find the torpedo and rush method so damn fun- in part because no one on earth expect this weapon to approach with such determination XD
I be throwing my torpedo, and immediately landing a first hit
If my opponent moves too much, the inked ground, torpedo explosion, and approach makes the main weapon take them out
If they attack me, I'm shielded and the torpedo will blast them dead
If they go for the torpedo, it gives me enough time to shoot them down.
It's so fun. It really is.
Triple gold medals nearly every time XD
Seeing me get "best splatter overall" or something knowing I have a bottom tier weapon makes me so happy.
You mentioning how Armor in 2 lowered Blaster and Charger useage and allowed Brella to eat my damage made my realize something else:
I think part of the reason Stamp sucks is because without armor it really sucks at stomaching hits. This isn’t the only problem with Stamp (there are a lot), but if Zip can have armor I don’t see why Stamp couldn’t
If 2 shields is not realistic, tbh, just buff its HP and give it the Undercover trait (getting your shield back every time you get a kill/assist)
Now hot take of mine, but I’d buff its HP not to 150, but to 240 (reference to the "24" in its full name)
0:18 What is chara cooking up? We don’t need brella miniguns, now.
Can’t we also give tent its old damage back to make it more reliable at range again?
I heard Dudley's theme and started jamming out, Logi doesn't miss when it comes to music selection 🤌🏾
Honestly I think tent should also get its old damage back🤭,
And that to differ recycled from splat even more, recycled should get 93 or 95 dmg so brella can get its 90
And this is on on top all the changes you listed🤭
Brella original damage? Yes absolutely thank you. Undercover definitely needs a better kit I agree. Tenta is pretty much fine as is, just maybe a few tweaks like you said. Just one question about recycle, how would it show both brellas visually?
I think if undercover gets something like a gimmick where it will slowly gain hp overtime but the ink efficiency gets worse
The music choice 👌👌👌
i think undercover should, when the shield is down, do 60 damage and when it is up do 40. you could be risky and try and get two 60 damage attacks without the shield for more reliable damage or you can try and get the perfect 100 damage with the 60 + 40 consecutive shots. that way the weapon would incentivize fighting without spamming the shield whilst give it a little bit of actual slaying power.
Should get a bit of the undercover treatment ( one shield launches the next stays )
Adore these changes, yes freaking please
There should be a high mobility brella without a shield that does very high damage and has a potential one shot up close, but its overall range is fairly lackluster
Brellas are basically Splatoon’s shotguns and I think it would be fun to have one that really leans into it!
KINGDOM HEARTS MEME KINGDOM HEARTS MEME
An idea I had to make Splat Brella more consistent without stepping on Recycled's toes as the 'high damage brella' was to keep the max damage at 81 but increase the damage per pellet. So:
- Pellet damage increased from 16.2 -> 20.3 (Maximum damage remains unchanged at 81).
THE KINGDOM HEARTS BRUH IM DYING
Chara: Now recycled Brella gets two shields!
Me: This is getting out of hand now there are two of them
👁 👄 👁
Speaking as someone who likes Sunder (I tried with Sorella Brella, I really did, I can't use Inkjet to save my life), that third kit would be amazing.
Once thing you didn’t point out with the 85 damage and range buff is that now it’s a lot more like a bamboo brella
>85 Damage Recycle
THE BAMBOO FAMILY BONDS GROW EVER STRONGER
If vBrella gets even a BIT of its old damage back (81->85) Ill cry tears of joy
I actually think the coolest way to fix it is to make the brella launch out in insane speed, like a giant projectile, it would be funny
Damn this recycled brella would go crazy in salmon run
recycled doesn’t have a stun. it was a glitch with the weapon when it was released and it was fixed in 7.2
*BURST BOMB UNDERCOVER I LIVE*
[crying because this is what i want so badly... damn torp..]
