Recently tried Remake for the god-knows-how-many time, and once again gave up and went back to the original, only this time I thought I'd give the 7th Heaven/Tsuna version a go instead, with the voiced characters and improved graphics. Being a die-hard fan since the original launched, I was skeptical about the voice acting greatly improving the experience, but I have to say, it really does. It's by far the best version of FF7 to date. The voice acting is (mostly) great, and the graphics, while not incredible by modern standards, smooths the rougher edges whilst still preserving the charm of the original game. I was grinning from the opening scene to the end credits.
Setting it up is only slightly more difficult than downloading it on steam (there's a full video guide), but it's well worth the extra effort. I highly recommend pretending that re-make doesn't exist, and giving this a try instead.

Well its 34.99 on steam and went ahead and got it. At first I was hyped and got through the first portion of the game but after running on a set track for awhile and rarely running into enemies got very repetitive. Think there is more cut scenes and running around than actual combat. Some of the extra stories are super boring. I haven't finished the game yet. Right now I got to the chapter where your just with Aerith. I am using the robot hands right now and first time using the first one I was like ok. Second time and now a third time with more metal robot hands. I was like how many dang times do I have to do this lol. I went on youtube and watched the rest of the game. I might finish it to get to the Shina building for just to see it but other than that. Crap.

I played FFVII for the first time through the remake and I agree with you. By the time it was over I was confused as hell, and pissed that it kept referencing older games I haven’t played. I'm glad i'm not the only one who feels this way. When Biggs Wedge and Jessie get killed in the original I felt that... I didn't want it to happen but it gives the player an emotional tie to the story. Is Aerith not going to be killed by Sephiroth now? Why not add to the stories and characters rather change things it's almost criminal. FF7 (ps1) is still a game I play to this day, the remake was a reason for me to buy a ps5 but after fighting and defeating Sephiroth in the beginning of this new story what's the point....?

If anyone has tantrum glasses it is you my friend. You skipped the part in my comment where I mention to ADD things and not change them. I get the story is a different timeline and you are going to be trying to change that timeline. I get that its a version of Sephiroth you fight at the end. My point is in the original Sephiroth is thought to be dead and you are fighting Shinra the first part of the game. It made Sephiroth more menacing and scary in the original like when you find the impaled Midgar Zolom and he is mentioned. In part 2 when we get thrown in the desert prison are Barret and Dyne going to be friendly and they just let us out without taking Dynes locket? If anything this story is dumbed down and in my opinion not as deep and profound as you think it might be. Just a cash grab like all the other "remakes and remasters". It's not a bait and switch at all. They are actually REMAKING the game, just with a different twist in the main story. And I'm happy we will probably get an awesome trilogy of games! Uncharted, God of War, and many other franchises come in 3 or 4. If you wanted a 2d-HD remake of the old one in one game, maybe we get that one day and it'll be awesome!

Why the FUCK and how the fuck do you just change the whole main character? Or in KH3. How can you take 13 years to come out with the 3rd main title and rob us of the staples of the numbered titles that being a sephiroth fight, collegium, and FF characters in general. People that think that fear of the unknown is the only thing misses at least my points, which is mostly about perception and legacy. It does not matter what Toriyama, nor me or fans, says about loss being important and remain so or not because as a part 1 it has a setup that by necessity built the ground for every new installment and Fate is the theme of the overall new FF VII remake saga (and if a sequel everything FF VII). Everything, from a sip of coffee, Aeriths death to Sephiroth redemption, can and should be a question of "what did defeating fate actually do?" instead of how the OG treated the themes of loss and identity which was easy for many to insert into their life. Just as well as the thought that the whisperers would literally drag people that lag behind around to complete their fate (technically there is no game over since it would not be allowed to happen, so your choices do not matter).
Fate -> fatalism/theological determinism/determinism/pre-determinism etc, are concepts that rule higher than life/death as well as identity and even time and thus reality itself. A story about the destruction of the fabric of reality or absolute divine tyranny did not really have a place in FF VII (even if you fight a seraph looking Übermensch madman trying to ascend to godhood). How often do you think about your or your family member's destiny compared to death, loss, life and turmoil and self-made decisions in life?
I think his new theme is the very antithesis of the OG. You can have loss, but it is different with multiverse, timetravel or dream/purgotry, etc stuff and that misses the point of the original death (and Kitase wanting the death of Aerith to not be Hollywood-like, Sagaguchi wanting loss to matters like in real life, yet remake mocks death with fake outs, resurrections and time manipulation, etc). You can have identity and growth, but not in the same way when omniscient (yet stupid as to be able to be defeated) divinity is involved. The new theme is absolute since part 1 added it, making fear of the next installment not necessary to hate what was done to FF VII by part 1. The only way "out" is to retcon it, and it could be sidelined or ignored, but that is even worse writing, and they should commit to the new difference they want, making every new player thinking that multiverse, time travel and whatnot is a part of FF VII and always was as the perception of the OG will warp with each new fan starting or getting to remake. The very proof is that people like you want an unknown future, meaning you do not want FF VII OG nor what it offered, but something new and that by itself means to have something that is "new and matters with the newness". "Play the OG" is a poor argument in this aspect, the aspect of legacy and perception of the brand going forward.

I'm going to break things down here since there are so many things wrong with this and, honestly you are just complaining instead of making a compelling argument and for whatever reason... it has really gotten under my skin since so much said here is just... flat out false. It's a long comment (a VERY long comment) so I don't expect you'll actually read all of it. Breakdown below:
Nomura being "kicked off" of FF15:
Nomura does have some crazy ideas, one famous being he wanted FF15 to be a musical. But him being taken off of FF15 wasn't because of his crazy ideas. It was because he was working on 3 major games at the same time. FF15, FF7R, and KH3. 2 of which he was heavily required to be apart of, FF7R and KH3. Square chose to announce all of these games way before they were ready and they needed something out soon. FF15 had so much engine trouble that it had changed to accommodate the engine so much, Nomura's original vision was no longer in play, so Square decided to have him focus on 2 other already established IPs that required his involvement to complete. Have you ever worked 3 full time jobs? Yeah well that was pretty much Nomura for the majority of 2000-2016. Saying Square kicked him off the project because of his "crazy" is what Kingdom Heart haters say online to sound "cool"
Game 1 only being in Midgar:
I'll admit, I was shocked too. I thought, how can they turn 6-8 (not 2-3 that you stated since that's what speed runners clock for the Midgar section) into a full 30-40 hour game. I even made a video saying it couldn't be just midgar before they announced it at E3 that year. In truth. about 33% of FF7s over all story dialog takes place in that opening section of the game. That's 1/3 of the overall spoken story in the first 6-8 hours. There is so much to unpack there. In all honesty, if they made the series split into 3rds based on story, the first would literal end when you escape midgar. That's also not to mention the amount they expanded on (which I will elaborate on later). They turned 6-8 hours into a full 30-40 game without much downtime dedicated to travel or mindless mob killing. Then if you wanted to 100% the game it turns into about 80-90 hours long with a Hard mode that actually changes how you need to play the game and presents an actual challenge and not just a "make enemies take more damage." They run different AI, have new attacks, and even have counters for your tried and true tactics. You have to plan out every battle. It's a completely different game. Then you have the extra battle challenges, side quests, different story beats that change based on actions you make in game. What you remember is 2-3 hours (Again these are speed runner times with sequence breaking) and making a huge meaty 40-90 hour game that actuallt delivers the whole time.
The added sections of the game like The train graveyard and chapter 13:
While I think these were some of the greatest parts of the remake, i get that not everyone liked them and that's okay.
    Being "Episodic" and "milking":
For one, "Episodic" was a mistranslation and everyone knows this so don't purposefully use it cause fear, and secondly this is a terrible argument because if you are complaining about this, then you need to complain about Mass Effect's Trilogy, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Crash Bandicoot, Spiro, Halo, Mario, Legend of Zelda, do you see where I'm going with this? Any sequel falls under your definition of milking, the only difference is you know the whole story before hand. It;s like The Lord of The Rings movies, and the Harry Potter movies. Especially the last Harry potter movie that took the last book and turned it into 2 movies. I guess they were milking it by your definition. And before you go on about the mobile games, they are all free to play with microtransaction built in that don't involve story progression. And hell, even if they did, Ever Crisis is the remake you were claking you wanted at the start of this video soooo are you just complain to complain at this point?
    "Filler" vs Expanding:
These are both different words for the same thing in this game's context. You can't say its exxpanding on something that you liked, but "filler" on something you didn't. This was a 6-8 hour section of the game consisting of 33% of the overall story's dialog expanded to 30-40 hours. That means there is about 24-34 hours of expanded story and gameplay or as you put it "Filler." You can't even say the "Filler" is the train graveyard and chapter 13 because every area in the game was expanded upon. The sewer, Sector 7, hell even the collapsed highway. And it added more gameplay, and world building. Sorry it wasn't "2 screens" as you put it. God forbid you have more areas to explore in the world of a game you claim to love so much.
    The whispers:
I think someone said it best here in the comments. I think the whispers were representing you. Up until chapter 18, I think the game did one hell of a job staying true to the source material. I personally liked the whisper aspect because I like to experience something in a new light, and I loved how they were trying to keep things on track and by beating them I can now fully explore the world of FF7 without it being on rails.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake being "Ruined":
No, it isn't being ruined. You still have it, you can still by it on PSN and Steam, and xBox, and Switch. It's not going away. The remake isn't even retconning anything. They could have left the whispers out and still (spoilers) brought back Zack, and had Sephiroth kill Barret (end spoilers) and thought would have been an actual retcon. But no, the original FF7 is still intact, it's still accessible, and available to play. They aren't talking it down off of the stores and saying "This is the only way to experience FF7 now" Like some remakes. No, it's all still there. Your nostalgia isn't being attacked. You just don't want things to change. You wanted a 1-1 (at least in story) remake of the OG and they decided to not make the old one obsolete but rather apart of the cannon. The series isn't "ruined" it's progressing.
    "We all feel this way":
flat out false, and I think your like to dislike ratio speaks enough to that.
You've managed to make a 13 minute video complaining about things you don't like, and not actually support anything you are saying with any real proof, reasons, or facts beyond "it wasn't like this in the original." You are entitled to have an opinion, but this video was just complaining, you don't compare the OG to the original and explain why you think the OG is better other than "This was 2 screens now its about an hour long with added cut scenes and a sub plot." The majority of people would love more content.
I'm not saying you have to like the game, but get your facts right or actually provide adequate example to back your opinion. Because, if you make a claim as bold as "It's Ruined" you better be ready to back it up with some compelling arguments. This video was a complaint session, presented as facts, acting like an opinion. And no, "I'm not in denial" because I can back up my claims and this type of video does more damage and harm to the community than good.

Here's all I'm going to say about this. I get that you love Final Fantasy. I don't even have a problem that you enjoy the filler content, which was mostly garbage in my opinion anyway. We're just going to have to agree to disagree on Remake, which is fine.
Here's what I do have a problem with. You justifying micro transactions in Final Fantasy is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my entire life. I don't even care IF the micro transactions end up not blocking progression.
The fact that they are in a single player experience is absolutely ridiculous and a cash grab, and if you're okay with that, then you're blind. It's clear that you will eat anything up as long as it has the Final Fantasy brand plastered on the front.

Hell name ANY major ftp game that has any success large or small that doesn’t have micro transactions.
At the end of the day, people make games to make money and if you don’t have to pay any entrance fee to play the game, then yeah it’s acceptable to have micro transactions especially in a single player game and especially if it doesn’t block progression. Any multiplayer micro transactions that have pay to win can go eff right off. But single player free to play without any gating. Yeah it’s fine. You can’t expect them to make games for free.
I’m not blind. I just don’t expect to receive things for free the exact way I want them. All Micro transaction aren’t bad. Pay to win or pay to progress definitely are especially in a multi player game. But the fact remains, you don’t have to spend a single penny to play ever crisis start to finish. and the reason why Nomura is leaving the Remake is that it was actually a financial loss for Square, they expected double for what they got in sales (it's why they did a "intragrade" shorter game with assets they already had because I don't believe Yuffie and Vincent hadn't been modelled before it and then 2 mobile games based on stuff that is far quicker to do than a full game)
He's aware of how badly this has been taken by the fandom, the large majority have been saying since 8 and 9 came out "just remake it like them" and we get this. He knows when something is a stinker and is just cutting ties so he isn't blamed ultimately for its failure.
Because the remake fans alone aren't going to be enough to keep that going, they need the tens of millions of fans who have been on this story since 97 to be interested. and I don't think we are.

Its not as if they were handed a winning formula out of the blue that they didn't know what to do with, THEY HAD the winning formula FOR OVER 2 DECADES! And this is what they chose to do with it.... While I also think it great that they include the compilation, it also bloats the story and makes FF VII remakes "OG" story lesser focused. Well, not like it matters anymore, but I can understand people not into the compilation, especially the "obscure" novels like with Leslie and Kyrrie, and they are a lot, and they also wanted a remake for the longest time. Having a chapter for Deepground in remake was a nice way to include DoC without making it have any relevance except filler material but soldiers engaging is kinda different. Makes it needing more context. VR bosses can be any bosses in my opinion, even non-FF VII if you ask me. VR fights are something that can be never ending in content. It is not really adding any kind of lore or story unless they forces the characters to acknowledge fighting Weiss/Depground etc rather than just "a boss". Resent play-through in Midgar took me 4: 42 H, and I was not speedruning or grinding, played steam version so no "help".
The battle royal is an example of value in not doing things. Reach a new audience? Sure that is great, but the cost is the perception of the rest of the IP. There is a reason why FS has major down votes and more people feel like they are milking FF VII. While the game itself does not include any story Ever Crisis will include lore and story from FS. This means EC is "mandatory" because of FS. Then again EC also has "and more", which means that EC can add however much it wants. Being against gatcha is not "wrong", that is not necessarily a stance against Ever Crisis as a story but as a corporate strategy and gameplay. Good for the company but that does not mean people have to like it or "just play for the story". Many people want to actually complete all content, without loot box mechanics, especially in an SP game. Going for the extra hard bits is for many an enjoyment of endgame content. Just because other mobile games has done it "successful" for the story does not mean people have to like it in a game they want to play. It is not like people would have liked it if Remakes hard mode was not really playable without loot-boxes.
Edit: did not mean minutes >_< and also was supposed to be a sentence about acknowledging VR fights outside the actual fight with comments or cutscenes etc, but I am not saying it will happen like that.

Thank you so much for making this, can’t believe how many videos I watched of people totally missing the point. All these arguments of people “oh you just don’t like that they changed the content” no a$$holes, I’m fine with changing the content if it’s good, jessy info add was sick. I was even down with the plot twist at the begging reactor blow. But the rest is a dumpster fire. The fact that a whole section of the game is the director expressing his agitation that the fans want him to stick to the story and representing them by fates. Dude stfu the reason fans are excited about a ff7 remake is because they love ff7. If you want to create a new story go do it, but don’t call it a remake. That’s like selling concert tickets from one of the most popular bands of all time, but when the fans show up all you play is a remix. You don’t sell a remake of the lion king where you don’t kill mustafa. One of the best selling games, heart reaching stories, thought provoking, they had a perfect formula they had to just not fuck it up.
On the plus side, fighting was good, graphics were nice update. Glad they kept as much music as they did. All story parts that they kept were cool.
Downsides: Barrett and arise voice acting was pretty cringe. Changing awesome plot elements into bad ones, instead of creating new areas in midgar to explore endless grinding for ghost babies and shinra tower, these damn repeating saving party member x moments as they are about to fall. Lol man way too much anger to even articulate it all. I wish I could sit with their creative board and just filter all the bad ideas, it’s not rocket science.

When I first played FF7 it was only my older brothers playstation. At first, I was like, "How the hell does this work?" It was new but the story line and everything else about it had me completely enamored. I remember my older brother saying, after about 200 hours playing it for the nth time, "If you spent only a fraction of the time spent playing this game as you do with your school work, you'd graduate collage before high school". It captured my imagination and, quite frankly, I don't know who I'd be without it. It inspired my art work. It inspired me to study mythology. It inspired me to research culture on a level that no academia could. It inspired me to do good in the world and, even as rudimentary as the RPG factor was concerned, to make good choices. To master the shit out of something. To this day, nothing will compare to this story and my intrigue with it. I haven't played the remake and I don't intend to. My impression of it is the same as the dude who made this. Money. Milking. Machine. Introducing so many elements into the game so fast...the whole game is a spoiler alert. Filler content. Watered down. Shallow. Like laying Aerith down in a mud puddle. The first time I saw Sephiroth kick the everlasting shit outta that dragon for the first time, it was like, "Holy F%$#@. This is why I'm going to finish this story to the end. There ain't no gettin off this train we're on!" It dragged me in. I had to know. It left so many things open for my imagination to run away with. I remember my Dad bitching about the game because the dialogue had "Shit" in it. Made me want to play it more. I guess it is a testament to how the late 90's were. To all those who love the game, keep loving it. If you never played the original, you have no idea what you are missing out on and how much you are being cheated now. I had a feeling they would fuck it all up. Any true fan has an idea of what they would like to see in their own mind. For me, I'll play FF7 in my head, like reading a book, which is something the developers and people in charge of the remake have clearly never done. R.I.P. FF7. And thanks dude who made this video. I don't need anyone else to tell me what my Promised Land should be.

I haven't found a single "Remake" of any video game done in the past 5, or maybe 10 years, that actually stuck to the original gameplay and story. You would think instead of changing mechanics, changing the story, etc. they would simply improve upon the graphics and audio. I think that's where the industry is messing up. Instead of calling these games "Remakes" maybe they should call them "Reimagined" or something. I think when people hear that a game is being "remade" they expect pretty much the exact same game, just with better, more recent graphics and audio. Instead we are handed a completely different version of what we were expecting.

I remember playing this game on release and was having a good time. The exact moment when it freefalls is when you follow the trail of goo and see President Shinra hanging onto the side of the building for no explainable reason. Not only did these two things not make sense together, but it also began an absolute snowball of relentless never ending nonsense that has you vomiting repeatedly until the credits. Frequently while you are vomiting you get back handed by Nomura and Square Enix who are actively punishing and mocking you for purchasing their game. The ending is pure abuse induced masochism. They are screaming at you to never buy another one of their products, that they actively hate you, and they are not shy about it at the end. Their gloves are off.
And they were successful in that regard. Message received. The absolute arrogance on display of this short term profit cash grab will guarantee the sequel gets half the sales, and the third game is going to be battling neck and neck with Lightning Returns for the lowest selling Final Fantasy game of all time. I cannot even pity them, they dug their own grave. The only thing I find disturbing is that when they dug this grave, they were smirking smugly the entire time, too arrogant to realize the grave was for themselves.
I can just imagine them cackling with each heave of the shovel in madness of the purist degree, "We'll bury them! Ahaha! We'll bury our entire customer base in this hole, AhahahAha!" At the moment, they are none the wiser, but soon they're just going to be gambling on the hope that there will be at least a few people that are stupid enough to lay in there beside them, or if they are lucky, to serve as their proxy, so they can fill the hole and walk away with overflowing pockets and loose bills being carried off by the wind.

We are now aware of the true intentions of Remake and the rest of this story, you don’t like it, then bye, but for the rest of us that aren’t having an aneurysm over how it’s not 1 to 1 the original game, we are gonna enjoy a thrill ride and have fun coming up with theories and enjoy ourselves while people who hate it can sit there and act like babies. It’s okay to not like it, but to actively lie and go out of your way to say crazy off the wall out of pocket shit is just hilarious

@@thatguybis1997 well I wasn’t talking specifically about you so defensive much? I respect your opinion of not liking it I’m just not talking about you, I’m talking about the people who are bashing the game and straight up lying about how it’s written/how the story went, or telling other people that we are delusional for thinking things even though we now have 2+ years of information and a whole lot of proof to backup what we say and then they are like “nah that’s irrelevant” it’s like oh okay then, whatever. You don’t have to take it to heart don’t worry it’s not about you

I'm 3 hours into the game and i gave up. Is boring as hell. I wanna leave midgard and reach all the cool moments i remember from the original. But i can't. I'm stuck in midgar full off annoying cut scenes

The "sephiroth clone" in the trailer is Weiss from Dirge of Cerberus homie.
They seem like they're just trying to fill in story content and give us more of a story we love.
I definitely want them to cut down on filler content if it isn't fleshing out the characters that are important but it's not as big a deal as you're making it.

Yes it is because all that filler could of been use going to kalm exploring the niblehiem flashback that would of been so much better then all that awful filler.

@@richardmason2116 they could of easily used other parts of the game to flesh out characters like the way to kalm rather then wasting time on the og turtioal part of the game I have no doubt buy the time we meet vincent we will be on part 5 can't wait to see how rufus body guard is flesh out threw out part 2.

@@richardmason2116 I never said my opinion was fact bud. The filler could of been use for the kalm flashback plus all of that "character development" filler sections could of been happening along side the story instead of slowing down the pacing. I also never said that I hated it. It is a very flawed story with good gamplay.

Our best hope for a proper remake is some sort of independently developed game that is funded by the fans. Keep SE out of it.

The pase for FF7 remake for the train graveyard was horriable for me as well. It litterly make no sense, everyone else Jessie and Big was attack by Shinra and they fill-in this ghost cut scene? for what? to fill up the play time. The ending fighting Sephiroth and a lot extra ghost? and Zack is also coming back a live? it should be called a remake it is more like re imagine or multiverse

The man at 10:25 is Weiss, they're incorporating dirge of cerberous into the game somehow. He turns into Omega, while Vincent turns into Chaos.
