    I followed the update instructions to the letter but still my cast is not recognised on the ninja.
    Just says module not connected, even though evidently it is
    Anyone else had the issue after 10.71?

    • @Aperture35
      @Aperture35  2 года назад +2

      Have you tried to factory reset the ninja V and install the update again when ninja V is mounted on Cast directly?

      @@Aperture35 Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes I've done that too. Even reinstall from recovery mode with the module attached. I might just send it back and buy an atem mini Pro instead. Not ideal as I wanted a compact and portable solution.

    • @Aperture35
      @Aperture35  2 года назад +3

      You won’t be disappointed with the Atem mini. It has a lot more features.
      But the Cast is supposed to work. I remember when I first installed everything it wouldn’t work either, and that’s because I needed to open the menu and go to sources and select the cast as source, as it was still in HDMI mode for the ninja.
      Well, either road you take, I hope it works out for you. 🥃

      @@Aperture35 thank you. I've since arranged a repair to the cast and also bought the atem. As you say gives me more options and also I'm getting 4 more ninjas for recording desktop screen and audio from sessions at my event. I love the compactness of it and being able to hit record and walk away and get a high quality recording with minimal effort. The cast not working is an annoyance considering the cost. But atomos support has been quite good. RMA raised today and in post for repair.
      Thank you for your video and more so for chatting to me here. I appreciate it. Not many content creators follow up with their audience so you should be commended for that.

      Well I’m glad you are happy with my customer service… 😂
      I am more so that you are finding ways to use the ninja in other ways. They are going to be on sale starting this weekend. So look out for them and if you use my links, well… I would be that much happier for you 😁
      But if you feel the cast isn’t cutting the mustard, then why not just return it and get a new one rather than do an RMA?… unless it’s been sometime since purchase. Then, this would be the best option. In either case, both Atem Mini ror Cast route will be a good option for you if HD video is all you need. Good luck and keep me posted Mark!…🥃🥃

    Glad that you got one working after that saga. The device looks super clean and nice setup, one thing that makes me feel better about my purchase is the cast not giving you ISO recordings. I thought that was going to be the case and ordered my Atem Mini Pro a week too early. Good review, turned out to be a solid device.

    • @Aperture35
      @Aperture35  2 года назад +1

      The atem mini is solid, do not think this device is better or vice versa. The atem mini wins at a lot of things and the cast has some features that the mini doesn’t. In the end, you should buy which ever device suits you better for your work or personal use. 🥃🥃

      This device is nice… and does not require a monitor, but if u want use them, u can have a total of 4. Which is awesome! Also, it’s very intuitive once you get the hang of it and easy to manage. Atomos did a very good job with this one. If they would just make an adaptor for the usbC to go live directly via Ethernet, that would make this a no brained switch for livestream and recording. Which I am crossing my fingers they will do. Thanks for your support bro. And which ever cam you chose to use and gets the job done, is the one to have at hand. 😁🥃

    I am feeding a 1080p signal into the Cast. It comes from a Minray PTZ Camera. The feed works fine with Blackmagic gear, but the Atomos sees no signal, no matter what output res I use, and with several different HDMI cables. Any idea why that might be?

    • @Aperture35
      @Aperture35  2 года назад +1

      The camera has to use progressive signal not interlaced. Interlaced is not supported.
      Also, some cameras need to be powered on after the cast and set to cast mode. If you try turning on your cam while cast off, it will not recognize it.

    • @Aperture35

      Your cam has to be 1080p not 1080i…

    Thanks for this video! I literally just received the Ninja V+ (not the Ninja V) and the AtomX Cast, and out of the box, when attached together, the Ninja V+ (and the CAST) cannot power up at all, even when the cable is correct - the Ninja V+ can power up when it's released from the CAST and by itself. Have you had experience with the V+ and CAST? What do you think might work in my case? (I cannot use the 10.71 firware because this is for V, not V+; the ATOMOS website doesn't have 10.71 firmware for V+ anymore) (I've sent in tickets to ATOMOS and the retailer I nought from, but I was wondering if there's anything else I might try before they reply)

    • @Aperture35
      @Aperture35  Год назад +2

      Sorry to hear your dilema, unfortunately, I don’t have any experience with the V+… have you tried 10.72.1 to see if that helps…
      Another issue, I had was that the connectors on the back of the ninja and the terminals on the cast weren’t aligning properly… otherwise, just wait for support to reply for u. Sorry if this wasn’t helpful.

    • @joelhansonli
      @joelhansonli Год назад +1

      @@Aperture35 Oh wow the connectors not aligning properly... I thought the CAST and NINJA were supposed to snug fits (almost like a snap on) out of the box! There shouldn't be any wiggle room to allow for misalignment. I haven't tried the 10.72, but I'll have to see how it goes - I sent back the CAST to exchange for another new one, hopefully it was just a defective unit I got...

    • @Aperture35
      @Aperture35  Год назад +2

      There is a chance that even the exchange version you will receive will have the same issue. It’s not really the cast itself, it’s more an issue of the ninja accepting the cast. If the ninja doesn’t have the proper firmware installed and the device is not making proper contact, it will not work. One thing is for sure. It took me a couple of tries to get it running. Had to flash the firmware backwards a couple of times and reinstall 10.71 while attached to cast. If you do it otherwise, it will never work. Good luck 🍀

    • @joelhansonli
      @joelhansonli Год назад

      @@Aperture35 Fingers crossed then - should be getting a replacement unit end of week, I'll update here how it goes! I cannot even power on the Ninja V+ while attached to the previous CAST in my case because power wasn't going through.

    Thanks for the review! I, like you, had returned the X Cast before the 30 day window closed with Amazon and bought an AVMATRIX switcher. I remember you mentioning there seemed to be a loose connection between the Cast and Ninja. Has that been fixed? Thanks again!

    • @Aperture35
      @Aperture35  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for asking that, I was gonna address it in the next video.
      It happened only ones with new firmware, where I would handle the ninja on the cast, I guess it would disconnect lightly and it would cause it to restart. But I have been more aggressive to see if I can do it again, and I can’t. It’s a hit and miss I guess…Or maybe it’s my own ninja connection that isn’t good . Since Atomos did change the case due to stripped screw holes.

    • @Aperture35
      @Aperture35  2 года назад +1

      Everything should be captured normal. As far as I know, the ninja does all the recording. The ninja does accept left and right channels, therefore unless u set your cam or your ninja to convert to audio to mono, it should be whatever it is being fed.

    great video thank you for sharing. I am currently using Yolobox to perform mobile/compact live stream, but send a program out to a LiveU solo to benefit from a bonded connection in remote locations. The Yolobox and LiveU combo do not play nice together, so I have been considering this to also give me my first recorder as well (added bonus). The Yolobox has many great features including unlimited graphic overlays on SD card and pre recorded video. Do you know if you can play pre-recorded video content from the SSD? Also can you MIX audio inputs or just switch between them?

    • @Aperture35
      @Aperture35  2 года назад +2

      I am not familiar with software mentioned. But, the cast can view any feeds from a computer to cameras. So if you want to play something, it must be fed through a player.
      As far as Audio, the recorder can only record the channel chosen, but only one. Input 1-4 or the input on the ninja. Whether stereo (L-R) or mono. To record more audio feeds, you would need to use additional audio equipment or pass the mic… 😆
      Hope this helps. 🥃🥃

      @@Aperture35 thank you. Yolobox is an all in one hardware monitor, encoder, switcher and graphics box, based on android OS. It's a jack of all type thing. LiveU Solo is a dedicated hardware encoder with bonding, I would send program out from xcast to this.
      My audio question was more about mixing audio for live rather than recording, but guess that's the same answer:-) will have to shell out for a zoom H6 or H8 as well I guess :-)

    I have a Samsung NX1 that can only output a clean HDMI feed at 3840x2160 30p minimum. Will the AtomX Cast conform this feed to 1080 29.97 on the fly for me? I would like to add this (still) awesome camera to my streaming setup.

      It can actually do HD60, but then you are required to have a pci capture card, like from ElGato, or the HDMI usb dongle from them as well. All this setups do require a streaming software to go live. If to record. You don’t need anything else. Atomos hdmi usb version sucks.

    Thank you for the review. Would you be able to tell if more than one pip can be on the screen at the same time? Ideally three.

    • @Aperture35
      @Aperture35  2 года назад +1

      As far as I can tell, it can only do one PiP and you can allocate it to any of the 4 corners only. If you want to do customize the look of the boxes.. say three boxes, it can’t, but you might be able to do it with ObS, but that will require two additional capturing devices. This is where the Atem Mini has the edge.

    • @erickmunari3975

    • @Aperture35
      @Aperture35  2 года назад +1

      The atem mini pro can do it… but it requires tweaking in the software to do. It is not very complex… but it does accommodate to more customization. But that does require a learning curb. I couldn’t get a grasp to do all of it. That’s why I returned it as well. But for sure can do it. The one I had was the ISO model, 8 channels

      This whole video is a mixture or internal recording in cam and ProRes LT from cast in either Log or 8bit.
