    I have the V6s and as a high handicapper I can say they are brilliant. The feel is great, you know if its off centre, and you can shape your shot. If only I can master my driver and putter the same way my scores will fall....but enjoying the time on the fairways and par 3s haha

    Thanks Again Michael for this great review....After hearing this comparison I bought two Wilson Staff FG V6 # 7 iron with two different flex shafts....R 300 an S 300 to see which was best for me....this way I can play with them much more at home...Today I went into the Course Club house to see that Titleist Rep brought in several sticks in the AP 1, AP2, and AP3 as Demos....I asked the Club house Assistance if these were available to hit on the Range to compare sticks??? Yes was the replay BUT Titleist Rep wants $ 30 to use them and IF You Buy a set, then you get your $ 30 back....I said thanks but I can't afford to pull Spieth out of the hole and pay his salary too.....On With Wilson Staff FG V6 for Me...

    Great review Michael... after your testing and review I went with the Wilson Staff FG V6 irons...Love them and have to get use to the weaker lofts after playing with my older Callaway XR Pro irons....Wilson Staff fitted with the right shaft and flex are a real game changer....I can see these irons working for me for the next 10 years...Thanks Again...

    Would like to see you do a head to head with these Wilson Staff FG V6 vs the new Callaway Apex Pro 19 irons and let us know what shaft and flex you are using.....Thanks for this review....Ali

    Excellent again. These are the 2 irons I am considering, playing off 6. Both v nice looking and offer forgiveness, which I need. I know Wilson aren't the big brand iron but think I'm swaying towards it. Will have a fitting soon to see what performs best with the correct shaft. Nice one ☝️

    I think The current AP2 is the best looking iron on the market. The V6 surely must be approaching the end of its product cycle and keen to see the new model. I currently play a mixed set of Srixon 765 and 565 and have love them, though the AP2 is very tempting. Have you considered doing a head to head - AP2 v Z765 ?

      V6 is still current for 2018 but guessing it will change end of this year.

    Correct me if I'm wrong. Differences in loft are an effort to hit a mark with respect to launch angle and height. So the so called higher launching club will have a *stronger* loft. What's the difference? The higher loft will spin higher and you will have more control. However, the high launching club will be easier to hit especially in the longer irons.

    Thanks for the review. From a quality standpoint, the V6 hasn't gotten the attention it probably deserves. Very nice looking clubs! On a side note, what do you attribute the dramatic change in spin numbers from your original V6 review?

    In the market for new irons and they have to be forged. The AP3's to me, are the best looking on the market, but since they are cast, they are out. I'm VERY interested in doing a mixed set of Srixon 765 and 965's (4-6 and 7-PW) and the Wilson FG Tour V6 and 100th blades. Can you accommodate some kind of comparison between them? Would love to see that. I've hit all but the 965's and LOVE the feel of all of them. Thanks for all you do. I really enjoy all the content.

      Also, maybe I should mention that I'm a 5 handicap trending towards scratch. I feel like I'm a pretty good ball striker with the short irons and maybe get a bit scrappy with the 4 and 5 irons. Distance is not necessarily a priority. My numbers tend to be around the same as yours, ironically.

    Thanks Michael for this review....Could you tell us all which shafts and flex you were using here???? Also could you do just a review of the Wilson Staff FG V6 irons with say different shafts...TT XP 95 R300 vs TT XP S300 and the TT New DG Gold AMT shafts...Thanks..Ali...

    What would happen to the spin, bounce and overall performance of the Wilson V6 if I get them 1* or 2* stronger lofted?

    • @MichaelNewtonGolf
      @MichaelNewtonGolf  4 года назад +1

      For every degree you make the lofts stronger you’ll reduce the bounce by the same amount. Less loft means less spin

    Thanks for the review both clubs produced good figures. Wilson may not spend on advertising to create the hype of Titleist and other brands but have a long long history of making fantastic clubs for low markers. People forget Wilson clubs have a won more majors than most, if not all of their competitors. Would be interested to see a comparison between Wilson FG 100 V Titleist MB 718 V Mizuno MP 18.

    Hi Michael,
    Could you do a comparison of the AP3 and the C300 Forged.
    Would be interesting.

    • @jergernice1
      @jergernice1 6 лет назад +1

      ive already done this. c300 feels better a bit less distance less offset and a bit longer....and much more forgiving especially on toward the toe hits.....i love look of both actually but c300 is very much like a slightly bigger badder ap2 where as the ap3 is a pretty more progressive set that doesnt feel good to be honest..

    Michael, great review! I am really torn on a club decision. I have been gaming the Nike VR Pro Combos for the past 6 years and am looking to upgrade. Have watched a ton of reviews of the 718 AP2's and AP3's, but the Wilson's having really peaked my interest. Any thoughts?

      Had the V4's and loved them. Tried the V6's thinking they would be the same club with different graphics. Didn't think they could improve that much. I was dead wrong. The V6's are unbelievably consistent & forgiving. Not just for the better player

    718 ap2 spin in this review was 7033...I just watched two others with the 718 ap2 where the spin avg was around 6100-6200. Big difference and misleading if not addressed being shaft options? For example I just watched the comparison with the Mizuno 919 Jpx where the conclusion was 718ap2 had too little spin. If this was already addressed and missed it, sorry.

  • @LasseJens
    @LasseJens 7 лет назад

    Which of the 2 models would you think is most forgiving.

  • @brianyoung3
    @brianyoung3 6 лет назад

    FWIW the AP2 are really game improvement irons that masquerade as players irons. They are forged and hollow and filled with speed foam. The Wilsons are forged cavity back clubs. Both give you a similar amount of help imo that are reflected in their comparative lofts (about 1 degree stronger for the AP2). Essentialy, the AP2 will be easier to hit, just don't expect to back the ball up with your scoring irons.

    Given there are so many good clubs now out or coming soon it would be good to see some other comparisons like how do these fare say against the taylor made p730 or callaway mb forged and/or mizuno sc/mmc
