Like your approach to testing clubs. You give an unbiased opinion and you even recognize and point out your capabilities as a good golfer.., not a touring pro. I would like to see every now & then the new club comparison to last years model. An average person can not be buying a new set every year just because of new claims by club makers. In fact.., most golfers may buy a new set every 5/7 years. Thanks Mike
Great review! I look at this as your hitting the ap2 (a true 7 ironn loft) - 170 carry. You're hitting the other 2 models 6-7 yards farther in carry distance but those are basically 6 irons. Not the biggest fan of all of these strong lofts. Your swing is a thing of beauty. Soooooo nice to watch!
Could watch your swing all day! If recently just been fitted and should be collecting my new ap3's within the week. Really excited to see how they do. Nice video. I subbed.
Very informative and helpful video. AP3 stats are very impressive. Flies highest, flies longest, and fairly compact head. The AP2 shots were the closest to flag and most consistent. Would love to hear if you would go for 7 yards added distance with some larger dispersion of the AP3, or go for the AP2 with slightly lower yardage but lowest dispersion. Thank you. Well done.
I play AP3 and still love them , i just play 718 mbs in 9 and pitching wedge bent to blend in , great review as always , sorry im a few years behind in my review lol ⛳👍
Great comparison video there. Ive played the 714 AP2s for a couple years now and love them but thinking AP3 is my next set. Im a 12-13 hcp so competitive but still need and appreciate some forgiveness. Sounds like the AP3 could be the answer. Cheers
A really helpful review, thanks, Michael. Heading down to the Titleist National Fitting Centre at Craigielaw on Tuesday. Currently playing Mizuno blades but not getting any younger or more supple so open-minded about the fitting and can't wait to benefit from Graeme's knowledge, experience and advice about the clubs for me.
I hit the AP1, AP3, i200 jpx900 last night. I currently use game improver irons so the AP3 scared me initially because of the head size. I loved the AP1 from the beginning and hit it well. However I went back to the AP3 later in the evening and spent 20 minutes laughing out load. ITS BONKERS ! - high and penetrating ball flight, sounds terrific and looks great. Shot after shot sounded like it was straight out of the middle (so it must have been giving me loads of help). I'm going for a final fitting on Tuesday and I can see me opening up my wallet.
Thank You . I appreciated the clear concise review of the 3 sets. Wanted to go for the Ap2's, but realistically the Ap3's are better suited for my current game.
Not keen on AP1 look but numbers are impressive, do not think I am good enough for AP2 so AP3 would probably be the club for me - sadly just got new M1s so that is me out of market for new irons for a few years
You should have a follow-up video changing the sequence of irons used (fatigue factor, perhaps), as well as taking out outliers in your data to get a more statistically reliable result.
Would be cool to do this same test with someone who came for a fitting. Obviously if they agreed to do it. But to see numbers from golfers who don't have the same repeatable consistency of strike.
Great reviews again! Your approach is deffently for all golfers not just cranking them out there! Love the head to head tests keep them coming, can you put the Apex and Apex pro up against the Ap1 and 3?
Hi. I would love to use forged irons for the look and feel but I think I still need the game improvement benefits of cast clubs. My questions to you are.are there any forged game improvement irons? If not what are the most forgiving forged irons out there? All brands included. I’m thinking the mizuno forged or the p790s? I’d appreciate your thoughts.
@@MichaelNewtonGolf I think T100 is too advanced for my stage in golf. Which one of the others would you suggest? T300 should be the "better/newer" AP1, are they any good?
Great test, nice to see all three clubs reviewed against each other. Definitely interested in the AP3, I have old AP2s now but they aren´t any easier to hit than the old blades I have and I struggle a bit with anything longer than a 6 iron. Maybe switch 6-4 out for Ap3? will just have to test them first :) cheers
I thought this was odd too. Perhaps it’s designed to spin more easily to help the high hdcp player get the ball up and stop. In the hands of a very good ball striker you may find it spins too much. Just a guess.
Always very good videos and very informative. Would love to see a comparison between new srixon 785 and AP2 and say new 585 and AP3. I have original AP2 and am going for new irons after 10 yrs. Keep up the great work!
The AP3 and the P790 seem aimed at the same type of golfer who wants a player head but a forgiving package so would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the two
I'd probably go w/ ap2 from 6 or 7 to W then add the AP3 in the lower lofted clubs. I have trouble transitioning to my vokey wedges from GI irons like ap1.
Makes absolutely no sense that AP1 spun 1k more than the others. I bet if you repeated this test and hit them in the opposite order or alternated irons with each shot you'd get the opposite spin results.

+Lee McLaren thanks Lee, glad your enjoying the vids & enjoy the AP3’s 👍

gorgeous smooth elegant swing

Bought a used set of 716 AP1's, I"m terrrible at golf, and hopefully these will help me out a little.
its been 5 years how did it go?

sounds great!
Very interesting numbers, spin numbers thrown me off altogether especially how quick the AP1 stopped. Great video enjoyed that one Michael.
+Geordie Sancaster thanks George
Are you going to do a comparison between AP3 and Srixon 565? The numbers would be fascinating.
As a beginner could I consider the ap3’s or should I stick and buy the ap1’s , thank you
Nice comparison video. Surprised you didn’t get a bit more distance out of AP3 and AP1. I’d like to see you do a comparison between AP3 and G400.
+David Glasgow leave it with me

Just got fitted for AP 3. Great video again. Even better great golf swing👍🏻👏

What is the difference between titless w and p irons
I’ve bough the AP1 4 month ago and hitting them sweet as a nut
Any chance of u reviewing the 3 other clubs in the 718 range? CB etc.
Great review. Did you hit green on all those shots? If so, great swing day as well. Titleist always impresses.
+Robert Nava yes Robert, big game to be fair lol
As a high handycap golfer who wants to improve fast and train a lot, would you get the AP1, AP3 or T300 or even T100?
If your a consistent ball strike then T100 is an option but won’t be as long hitting as AP3, AP1 or T300.

yes that sounds like a good idea but just be careful of the loft difference
Highest spin from ap1..? That's very odd and almost seems like it goes against what the club is designed to do. Good info Mike.
Zachary Milos yeh surprised me too

Mike what shaft did you have in for testing.?
very helpful - thanks!
How would my VR Pro Nike irons compare to the AP3s. I'm very interested in those gorgeous irons...
Do you think the ap 2 bent 2* strong would even things out a bit ? I play a 50* wedge so gapping at the bottom should be good.
+Seven Seven yes will help
Mike, great review as always. Can we get a Taylormade P790 vs the AP3? Those irons seem to be designed for the same type of golfer. Thanks!
+Ryan Winkels on my list Ryan 👍

Thoughts on the ap1 for a 7 handicap player I currently use the rbz irons that are 5 years old
Ian Gethen go AP3
He swings like Justin Rose? Superbly!
The AP3 and the P790 seem aimed at the same type of golfer who wants a player head but a forgiving package so would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the two
+cwugrad396 coming soon
Not a fan of the AP2 or the AP1. Simply do not like the looks. But the AP3 looks fabulous and would perfectly fit my game.
I'd probably go w/ ap2 from 6 or 7 to W then add the AP3 in the lower lofted clubs. I have trouble transitioning to my vokey wedges from GI irons like ap1.
Scott Mensi sounds good scott
The interesting one between AP1 and AP3 is AP2, well he must have a GCSE in maths.
Liked ur vid and take 🖒⛳
