Just compared these to the new Taylormade P7MC. You will be glad to note I can not justify Taylormade charging $1299 for those irons when these were as good in every category. I’ll be replacing my Titleist 695CB irons with the V6 Tours.
Great job Wilson making golf still amazingly fun and still affordable

I've seen these Irons recently and I plan to buy the V6 Irons ... they are stunning. Wilson Staff are a legendary Historic company with more Tour winners having used them than just about any other. Screw advertising ... those shouting the loudest aren't by virtue of that fact, the best.

You guys are by far the best club reviewers on the web. I bought the Mizuno 919 Forged and have hit them for 4 months. I just could not hit a green to save my life. Bought these Wilson's used on ebay and love them. It is so much easier to be deadly accurate with the Wilson's. They are 2 degrees weaker loft so they dont go quite as far as the Mizunos but I find it has been worth it.

I do like how Wilson are focusing on the feedback of their customers a lot more nowadays, especially on social media as I feel it's making people more aware of how good Wilson are at making clubs again. Big fan of their products and excited to see what they bring out for next season.
    Great video chaps 👍

Really good video guys. So nice to see Wilson Staff getting some love. I personally like seeing a golf club with the what I would call standard lofts. Clubs are so juiced up anymore. Well done!

As an older American golfer (67 years old), I grew up on Wilson Staff and Spalding trademark clubs. It is great to see that Wilson is still relevant today. Excellent review..might be a club I could consider, if there is some added distance per club - even with the weaker lofts...interesting!

Notch up one more v6. Did a fitting yesterday between 716ap2 , srixon 765 and these babies. Shoot out between ap2 in lz 6.0 & v6 in s300. No contest. Even the bad shots in v6 were straight with little loss in distance as you would expect. 2deg up cos I’m out to in but can bend them should the need arise. Great fitting experience, hour and twenty mins. Can’t wait to collect them. 11.0 to end the season and single beckons next year.

i have wanted a set of FG Tours ever since i switched from my TP MB Smokes. this appears to be exactly what i am looking for in an iron. also have loved the FG Tour balls and wouldnt mind trying the C300. thank you so much guys. absolutely what i have been needing to see out of reviews.

These are a little too tough to hit for me, but I just ordered the Wilson Staff C300 Forged. They are also fantastic to hit. I am converted to Wilson after hitting them for the first time. I guess with so many years of experience these guys know how to make golf clubs. I ordered their wedges too to complete the iron set. Arrive tomorrow - can't wait! Thumbs up Wilson.

Another great video.. Almost bought Mizuno (MP18) again and than saw the reviews on RUclips about the V6 irons and decided to try them. Never thought of buying Wilson....my fault because they felt just as soft as Mizuno, true lofts , forgiving for a players iron, great numbers on trackman, good performance bringing a demo iron on course, great feedback, workable...bought them and saved a fair amount of money👍🏽🏌️😎

Back in the day Wilson was The club of choice, so nice to see them getting some airtime again. After months of trying I still can't find anything that can beat my old Wilson Irons.
Although I'm disappointed that the shark infested Water hazards, Mine fields and Razor wire have disappeared from the backdrops, I have to admit that the Pebble Beach graphics look stunning! As soon as my doctors allow me to fly again, I've just got to come over to play the 7th.

Thank you so much for testing! I seriously think these irons are for me. I have been a searching far and wide for a more traditional forged iron with forgiveness, traditional lofts, high launch, and high spin. I play on greens that are unresponsive to spin and anything less than 6000 revs means your off the back.

  • @luisrepreza174
    @luisrepreza174 6 лет назад

I played Ben Hogans long time ago and I don't think they've changed that much since. However, forgiveness and distance is what I look for in my irons. Windy conditions in my local golf courses forced me to choose those strong lofted irons. Just trying to make my golf game more enjoyable !
Thanks for the video guys !

I've been playing the V4 for the last 2 seasons which was the precursor to the V6, and they're spot on for my game. Surprisingly, the higher lofts really don't impact my distances much at all. The one thing I do find is that the distance control is amazing with them. I've never been pin high on so many greens in my life. I'll either move to the V6's next year or see what if they have a next generation in the works and wait for that. DO NOT SLEEP ON WILSON IRONS!

I've been looking at the Wilson (c300 forged & V6 combo), Ben Hogan (PTx) and Mizuno (919 forged) irons to help my journey back in to golf after 12 years out. Off 6 now and working hard to get some sort of game back, this type of review really helps, thanks. Currently using Callaway Prototype blades and not finding it easy. Superb guys!! Have been looking forward to your thoughts on the FG Tour V6.
Tried them out at a recent golf fair and they won hands down vs Apex, i210, AP2 and P750......... and at this price point it's simply a no brainer!!
And also Ian you are 100% correct about lie angles when testing a club ......... the Wilson club fitter switched me into a 2º upright head (my spec) and they felt even better....... a small detail but SO important.
PS Am wondering if they are going to launch a V7 soon, the current V6 is coming up to 2 years old, lanched in Nov 2016..........mmmmm
PS Would love to hear your thoughts on Bridgestone balls, recently tried out the RX model and was wowed by the performance and feel. Also after 2 rounds with the same ball, there wasn't a single scuff mark, and really bright shiny white, must be bullet proof.....
PPS What are your thoughts on one length irons??
Thanks guys, keep up the great work!! Looking forward to the next vids..

Upgraded to the V6s this season, went for 4-PW with X100 AMT shafts. Actually they are a couple of yards shorter than my old irons (X20 Tour) but way more predictable. My old irons could easy go an extra 20 yards on a pulled shot. My standard miss is a thin hit and for those shots the V6 is actually very forgiving and I'm not giving up many yards. The only thing I'm struggling abit with is the PW which is a bit chunky to my eye and I also have issues to flight it as desired. A bit tempted to try to find a FG 100 Tour pw to replace it with.
Got them at a very competitive price as well, a good 200-300$ cheaper than similar offerings from the major brands. The fitter was also kind enough to throw in 3 dozen FG Tour Balls so all in all I'm very happy with my V6's.

This doesn't relate to this vid but I watch a lot of comparison videos and its usually a 7 iron vs stronger lofts, maybe it takes a 6 or 5 to match up the lofts and then theres always the calculating of difference of shaft length at the end of video which throws off distance and height etc and always leaves me wondering, what if you just choked up on the longer shaft, maybe taped it off on grip to eliminate the length problem. Then everything should be equal right? Would that work? Is there a reason I never see it done that way?

I've been playing the MP-54 (I'm a lefty) and want a bit more distance out of my irons and I'm worried that the traditional lofts are going to hurt more than improve. I don't hit as long as the person hitting in the video so it concerns me. Anyone know how the spin would effect the club if strengthen the lofts, or even weaken the lofts to fit the yardages I'm looking for?

Was fitted for wilson irons over 20 years ago. Couldn't hit them at all. Took them to a different facility. Swing weights were all over the place. He took them apart. Head weights did not follow any sort of normal progression.

Hello. Have you any experience with Wilson C300 Forged irons from your experience, fitting and customer feedback?

    Thanks for that!
Would've loved to see Ian do the lie adjustment.

I know, I was talking about the actual bending and measuring in the lie&loft machine. I think it's cool :-)

Wilson is under rated! It's a shame they're bigger overseas, than in the USA.

How about a review of golfworks Maltby TE forged irons. They are affordable but very nice, no offset, tiny topline, and lots of forgiveness...with some fst shafts, they can be had for under $300. Nobody reviews them! Thanks

Rick shields had them, and they're regular bare bones blades. Seen one seen em all. No?
