I have a tiny sub 1mm scratch on my skx in nearly 10 years of heavy wear. I wear it hunting, working in the woods, in the gym, fishing and doing all kinds of stuff. Bezel and crystal still in great shape.
Holy moly, those coctail time gmt's are gorgeous!!! Especially the second one with the gold gmt. I want that watch! These Gmt hands are the best I've ever seen. Love what they did with "shared" dial realestate with the 24h scale, it looks super cool, regardless if it ends up being a bit confusing.
I got the Seiko SBSA269 (JDM version of the SRPL03) and it has vintage vibes like crazy with cool silver dial. Put a shell cordovan racing strap on it and that really elevates it
i like em, cant get past the slight discoloration in the sub dials - prefer whatever the astron and eco drive use - but im stiffler for matching colors
Yes! I don't understand why they increased the lug to lug...still wears pretty good due to the reduction in height. I'm waiting for an all blue one 🤞🏼. Less than 48mm lug to lug would have made me want them all
I love all things red (that SRPL11 is a nice watch), but want to see some new dial colors, like lime-greenish, tiffany-blue/mint green, silver and orange-gold! Nice review and thanks.
Yes, Watch & Style offers a baby Samurai mod case for a few years now. Yes, you are thinking too much about the 24 hour scale. Doesn't matter if it's between the indices or on the bezel.
I have the SSK037 and was at first put off by the 24 hours being in the same space- but you get use to it fairly quick and can make the distinction between the two.
I am still loving my SPB240. It is the 1968 case with gold accents, fauxtina and a chocolate dial. The watch is fantastic. I was bitter about not getting the Ginza edition Sumo (I collect Sumo’s), but this is my favorite Seiko diver to date. Now I want a 1968 case with a 8L35 movement. I have seen a blue dial version on rubber for $2,000 new. I want a bracelet, but that deal is the cheapest 8L35 I have ever seen.
The SRPL05 is a reissue of a 1969 era watch known to Seiko enthusiasts as the 'Kamen Rider', because the actor in the original series sported this model. Several closeup shots appear in the series.
9:31 , I purchased the SSC 909 from Marc, and I can attest to the fact that the watch is beautiful and the bracelet is just plain weird. The bracelet is somewhere in my sock drawer! The watch is on a sail cloth strap nowadays! Lol
I totally agree. I've been surprised that more people aren't disappointed by the solar quartz aspect of this new Pogue homage. Yes, it would be more expensive, but there is such a devoted fan base of collectors and enthusiasts for the original 1960s and 1970s Pogues--I'm sure people would not mind paying more for an automatic.
I think they did a good job with the 24h-scale on the Cocktail GMT. The Cocktail Time has such a beautiful dial. It deserves to be as uninterrupted as possible, so the 24h are pushed to the edge and don’t take away real estate from the dial. Works for me.
Breathtaking video (in more ways than one...amazed you didn't need an oxygen mask after all that). What did I think? - The not-quite-a-Pogue tribute is a tad disappointing, but (1) if they'd "done it right", it would've been priced up the yin/yang, and (2) those colors DO look smashing on that solar chrono...if I didn't already own a 6139, it would be a tempting pick. - Cocktail Time GMT: While I agree that the 24h numerals *are* just a touch odd, I much prefer this approach to, say, engraved numerals on the bezel, which was something I decidedly did NOT like on the "sharp edge" Cocktail Time models. The New Samaurai: I like it. I never completely warmed up to the original Samaurai, even though I loved certain details of the case design. The new version, to me at least, retains most if that, while seemingly enhancing wearability.
The chronographs are really good looking. That ice blue one is .. wow 😮! The new Presage- I can’t see a huge improvement from my cocktail time 🤷🏼♂️. I’m not so into chronos, and I prefer my king samurai and Presage old style, so I think I’ll wait to next TGV&Islander collab for my next purchase from the store☝🏻
No Marc, regarding the Presage, you're not thinking too deeply. I question why you'd need another time zone while drinking cocktails, and if you did, you'd be wearing a different GMT. It looks cluttered, and I'm a Skyhawk owner 🤣 The GMT hand should have been way more discreet. It looks like the Eiffel Tower 🤣
Great video Mark. Some good looking watches there however so much better value avaliable from many micro brands. No on the fly adjustment, 2 position micro adjustment on the bracelets, hardlex crystal. Do try to keep up Seiko.
The only reason I don’t have a presage in my collection is because I can’t stand that glossy case. If only it was brushed. That Seiko 5 silver dial however is gorgeous
Seikos prices just keep climbing….that Samurai reduced is the same cost of the King Samurai and you’re not getting either the sapphire crystal or ceramic bezel insert. I really like the red one but going to hold out to see if they do a King version.
The date in the Samurai is really a no no, the only one I'd like is the grey one. The Speedtimer in gold and red\blue tones is very pretty but they knew that was an easy win given how it's taken from the pogue, Presage GMT is stupid beautiful. Overall I'd say 50% good 50% meh, they're not risking much with this line-up eh.
The GMT design with the odd numbers between the indices does not bother me on the Grand Seiko SBGN013. A younger person who grew up with digital clocks might have more trouble.
Don't understand your confusion with the cocktail time GMT markings. The GMT hand points to the clearly-marked second time zone (with numerals done in a nice dress-watch style).
That’s a bit funny, taste is such an individual thing...I almost pulled the trigger on the ssc909 ...ironically I liked the bracelet but really disliked light blue dial. & Seiko have bought out the exact “ opposite” of the watch I want 😂
Going to Asia next month so maybe I will pick up a speedtimer. Hopefully I can get one for under $500. Not sure if I will get the pogue or the blue one. If I can’t decide I will get both!😂. I like the ice blue too so maybe I will get 3 😬
Outside of Japan and Hong Kong, the watches may cost more. Just a warning from a guy who used to live over there. If you go to Thailand, buy a ZIMBE. Those watches rock.
they missed the opportunity to make the USA special edition in red white and blue, it would have looked better than with the black chapter ring and they would have sold more of them.
GMT scale on the cocktail time is FUBAR . Example 2200 equals the 10 o'clock marker for on Zulu time scale. This watch has the 2200 GMT print between the 10-11/22-23 markers... weird..
I think in time maybe 6 months or more the prices should be a lot lower. The Chronos are super overpriced. 700 for a quartz chrono. I think Citizen makes something similar for hundreds less.
I have no clothing that matches the “Pogue” Color scheme. Red, blue, mustard yellow. The Pogue is only cool because it was vintage. The new one doesn’t have the same appeal.
Nice job getting through them all quickly. Thanks!
I tried.
The solar chrono “Speedtimer” ice blue dial is just so scrumptious! 😊
Thanks for sharing.
Yes, it is! Thanks for checking it out, as usual.
I have an SBRT027. Ice blue dial. Not solar, but cooler, smaller and a fraction of the cost.
I am going to risk the jinx, but i still have not scratched any hardlex Crystal's. 😮
I have a tiny sub 1mm scratch on my skx in nearly 10 years of heavy wear.
I wear it hunting, working in the woods, in the gym, fishing and doing all kinds of stuff. Bezel and crystal still in great shape.
All my hardlex stuff is just scratched to hell and back, lucky to have a watch go a month without a scratch.
I have a hardlex crystal on my turtle with zero scratches!
Knocked my turtle on a door frame in the first couple of weeks and put a decent gash in the crystal
I've scratched every hardlex I've owned for over a year, not sure how someone could manage this
I love the 24 hour scale between the markers on the cocktail time Seikos, I think it looks slick
That speed timer on the strap with green tachometer is very nice. I'm addicted to Seikos
Absolutely love the last two watches.
they are divisive@
yeah it's a banger -- I had and sold the srpk17 but the lack of lugs bothered me... not these new ones!
I have three Samurais and one King Samurai, but that Mini Red Samurai is still calling my name.
some and get it!
I'm glad you like it!
Red Mini Samurai !! 😍
Its really great on wrist.
:)
I love that my local authorized watch seller never removes the “Retailer Please Remove” Sleeve Box whenever I purchase a new Seiko watch from them. 😂
Thanks for the updates, Marc!
Welcome!
12:48 You’re not overthinking it. I agree, those numerals could get confusing with their placement.
Yup!
Agreed!
I‘ve tried the black mini samurai on yesterday and was in awe how soft the rubber strap and how misaligned the bezel were!
The last one is a reissue of the 5126 8090. Cool!!
I got the Seiko SBSA269 (JDM version of the SRPL03) and it has vintage vibes like crazy with cool silver dial. Put a shell cordovan racing strap on it and that really elevates it
Nice, thanks for the new releases.
Wow. I like all of these. A lot!
Oh man… those solar chronographs are going to cause some issues in my household… thanks for showing these to us… I think. 🤔
LOL, sorry!
i like em, cant get past the slight discoloration in the sub dials - prefer whatever the astron and eco drive use - but im stiffler for matching colors
The scale on the GMT presage is perfection.
Marc you should do a 38mm "micro" Samurai ❤😂
This is where I would normally say, don’t give him any ideas. But yes, give him ideas. ! That would be super cool
Yes! I don't understand why they increased the lug to lug...still wears pretty good due to the reduction in height. I'm waiting for an all blue one 🤞🏼. Less than 48mm lug to lug would have made me want them all
LOLOL
Pogue is 🔥
Man, everyone loves it
I like that champagne dial with green bezel. Looks classy
Within the past few years Seiko seems to listening to customer requests by releasing updated and re-interpretations of past popular watches.
it seems that's all they do!
The Pogue is really nice and very tempting.
Just got it yesterday, it’s excellent, very happy.
Those 'Baby Samurai' watches are nice (particularly the SRPL11) - love the crimson bezel and dial (very Tudor).
I just bought a red Baby Samurai online. Perfectly aligned bezel, and running +3.3spd. Score!
I have the SSK037 and was at first put off by the 24 hours being in the same space- but you get use to it fairly quick and can make the distinction between the two.
fwiw the gmt cocktail time markings make complete sense to me. Beautiful dial yes. Liked the mini samurais too.
The two sub homages are my favorites in this video.
very nice review to be able to see the watch closely
Glad you liked it!
I am still loving my SPB240. It is the 1968 case with gold accents, fauxtina and a chocolate dial. The watch is fantastic. I was bitter about not getting the Ginza edition Sumo (I collect Sumo’s), but this is my favorite Seiko diver to date.

Thank you!
oooh mark that presage gmt is awesome i need that its 7 years ago that i bought the first coctail time !! time for a second one !!
The SRPL05 is a reissue of a 1969 era watch known to Seiko enthusiasts as the 'Kamen Rider', because the actor in the original series sported this model. Several closeup shots appear in the series.
Love the tiny circular date at 4:00 position. Still have the complication but it almost disappears.
Ya, super cool!
It is small, though.
9:31 , I purchased the SSC 909 from Marc, and I can attest to the fact that the watch is beautiful and the bracelet is just plain weird. The bracelet is somewhere in my sock drawer! The watch is on a sail cloth strap nowadays! Lol
Thanks, it sure is!
I hope they make the pouge automatic,i know itll cost double the price but itll be worth it to me its so more original thanks great reviews
I'm digging that SRPL05. Marc, any plans to restock the blue/white Collabro?
no, sorry, but probably have some samples kicking around.
@islandwatch unfortunate. Those samples available, by chance?
I think they did a good job with the 24h-scale on the Cocktail GMT. The Cocktail Time has such a beautiful dial. It deserves to be as uninterrupted as possible, so the 24h are pushed to the edge and don’t take away real estate from the dial. Works for me.
Is the lug to lug on the Samurai correct? 49.5. I was hoping it was a little shorter. Thanks for the reveal. Like the old days
yes, sorry!
12:56 Oh I really like the whole watchface! It’s different and the numbers are elegant. I think once you wear it once, you’ll get it down.
I'm sure, but still, an odd combo.
I have the SRPL 13 and I love it!
awesome!

Yes, red mini Samurai! It looks "serious* for some reason.
Great video! You say the knurling on the baby samurai reminds you of another watch? It is very similar to the newer Citizen Fugu models.
So is the lug to lug the same or smaller compared to the "full size" samurai?
No Marc, regarding the Presage, you're not thinking too deeply. I question why you'd need another time zone while drinking cocktails, and if you did, you'd be wearing a different GMT.
It looks cluttered, and I'm a Skyhawk owner 🤣
The GMT hand should have been way more discreet. It looks like the Eiffel Tower 🤣
Great video Mark. Some good looking watches there however so much better value avaliable from many micro brands. No on the fly adjustment, 2 position micro adjustment on the bracelets, hardlex crystal. Do try to keep up Seiko.
Time for a new moster already seiko!
"21mm" with a chuckle. Come on Seiko even numbers.
It doesn't have all the specs an islander would but i really like the new Samurai design
I will buy this when they come out with the night vision version
There is a Speedtimer Night Vision.
You are correct, sir. The numbering on the Presage is incredibly confusing.
thank you. Glad I'm not crazy.
The Presage is nice, I can't see the point of the display back. But it is nice.
I wholeheartedly agree with you on the Presage GMT. Pretty watch otherwise.
thanks!
Any plans to do an Islander bracelet for those 41mm Speedtimers? Say 5 link style bracelet 😊
Marc, I still prefer your watches!
thanks!
Can't they make the numbers for the Date bigger... or add a Magnifier?...
I feel stupid but can someone explain to me the point of the 24 hour dial on the presage? The placement of the dial numbers does not make sense to me.
probably for 24 hours le mans race
The only reason I don’t have a presage in my collection is because I can’t stand that glossy case. If only it was brushed.
That Seiko 5 silver dial however is gorgeous
God i wish Seiko did a 36mm gold tone cocktail time with a 4R35. Like the 36 Bambino, but they are impossible to find.
Any plans for a Long Island Watch Speedtimer bracelet, Marc? No one makes one with toolless micro at the moment 😉
Bracelet, yes, toolless, not.
@@islandwatch yayyy!
The bezel on the last pair of watches reminds me of a Vostok.
Yes, me too.
Man, I am 🤏 close to buying the SEIKO speedtimer in the pogue color way. I’m struggling that it’s not the historically accurate model.
I bought one.getting more hand time than my sub.i love it
I understand that
@@islandwatch I'm willing to bet Seiko will release a limited edition SLA version of the Pogue as a somewhat accurate reissue in the coming years.
Marc, to quote my Dad, whattya think i'm made out of money! 😊 great overview. thanks.
LOL!
I have Seiko SSC911P1. In this case unfortunately because that red bezel version is superb. Otherwise love that watch
Seikos prices just keep climbing….that Samurai reduced is the same cost of the King Samurai and you’re not getting either the sapphire crystal or ceramic bezel insert. I really like the red one but going to hold out to see if they do a King version.
If they made the samurai in orange I would totally get one. Tell them for me marc!
Yeah, can't believe they didn't!
There was an Asian market orange turtle (SbDY023 methinks). I own it. It is a nice watch.
Price of the second watch??
i am going to get a speedtimer, I just can't decide which one. Wish the 813 was bigger than 39mm with better lume, i'd get that
thanks for watching!
The GMT design with the odd numbers between the indices does not bother me on the Grand Seiko SBGN013. A younger person who grew up with digital clocks might have more trouble.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME, MR.BEAN?
Don't understand your confusion with the cocktail time GMT markings. The GMT hand points to the clearly-marked second time zone (with numerals done in a nice dress-watch style).
I would have preferred Roman Numerals with the Presage GMTs
It's a look, that's for sure. Imagine roman GMT numbers, LOL
🤘🤠
That’s a bit funny, taste is such an individual thing...I almost pulled the trigger on the ssc909 ...ironically I liked the bracelet but really disliked light blue dial. & Seiko have bought out the exact “ opposite” of the watch I want 😂
Please do a black hexad for the black PVD baby Samurai
I don't think there's enough out there to make the development worthy
Going to Asia next month so maybe I will pick up a speedtimer. Hopefully I can get one for under $500. Not sure if I will get the pogue or the blue one. If I can’t decide I will get both!😂. I like the ice blue too so maybe I will get 3 😬
Ice blue is awesome, safe trip!
Outside of Japan and Hong Kong, the watches may cost more. Just a warning from a guy who used to live over there.
If you go to Thailand, buy a ZIMBE. Those watches rock.
I bought a quartz tuna and scratched the hardlex after 2 days, I’m not even sure how I did it, I will never buy anything without sapphire from now on.
I liked the last one….
Need islander jubilee bracelet !
Thats a sad re-release of the pogue imho.. Wish they would have made a re-issue closer to the original.. Just as they did with the navigator gmt
they missed the opportunity to make the USA special edition in red white and blue, it would have looked better than with the black chapter ring and they would have sold more of them.
A wise man once said "Even Seiko doesn't make the best Seiko."
ha!
4:27 can the Pogue be NATO strapped? I think that would look great with a black NATO.
Has it got quick release catches for the bracelet?
$575 for a hardlex crystal on that beautiful baby samurai is a shame, hard pass. Seiko needs to do better at that price point!
The Chrono is absolutely gorgeous, but, the date in that particular position ruins the symmetry of the dial.
I think you get over it :)
GMT scale on the cocktail time is FUBAR . Example 2200 equals the 10 o'clock marker for on Zulu time scale. This watch has the 2200 GMT print between the 10-11/22-23 markers... weird..
super weird
I think in time maybe 6 months or more the prices should be a lot lower. The Chronos are super overpriced. 700 for a quartz chrono. I think Citizen makes something similar for hundreds less.
I'm sure there will be a reduction in 6 months like you said.
Meh... The ISL-149 currently on my wrist smokes these. 😉
LOL, no complaints here.
The habbit of only having two microadjustment positions is getting on my nerves. I had to buy a clasp because of it.
Oooh, it seems to me that star bar gmt with the nice leather strap is meant to immitate that entry-level Grand Seiko. And it looks nice...
Probably, good point.
Presage🥰. Baby Sami👍 The others 🥱.
Baby Sami for me.
I thought you said you were going to go fast 😉
Yeah, when I edited I was like "oh man!"
I have no clothing that matches the “Pogue” Color scheme. Red, blue, mustard yellow. The Pogue is only cool because it was vintage. The new one doesn’t have the same appeal.
Wait aligned markers? Are you selling fakes now 😂😂😂😂😂. Hardlex for $500 plus? Yikes 😬
LOL
