- Ok I feel I should say again why there are 2 sirens next to each other since I get a million comments about that. The 508 is replacing the 612. Same went for the other 612s in Monroe. Update 5/13/17: the 612 has been taken down. 10/5/16: Note: was not expecting the 612 to do anythhing otherwise I would have set up a better angle. A good example of mechanical and electronic sirens tested side by side, of course no telling what won this battle. The 508 was put up I believe over a year ago, while the 612 was believed to be dead (as seen in my video several years ago of the same siren) Today sure was a shock as both activated! No idea why they put up a 508 since the 612 wails like it should. I wondered if they just simply slapped an MC on it since the other 612's wind up immediately while this one was like Brighton Twp's 612. (yes Noie I know you told me but I have CRS "cant remember shit) Anyways enjoy and no the other 612's are still standing alone with no other 508's in sight.

TΩwmaX Maybe the somethings in there is failing..Federal Signal isn’t making EWOS-612’S anymore I imagine it would be hard to find a good part.
I like electromechanical sirens better.
@@Aa-zp5kn Electronic sirens aren't loud at all which is probably one of the main reasons why it's being replaced with a 508.

Update: all sirens in Monroe are 508s. All the 612s are gone.

You can tell the eows is much more directional than the 508 because, even though it’s not too loud, it is still heard louder than the 508 at several points in the video
Usually when you see two tornado sirens next to each other only one of them goes off

Amazing video. The way the 612 and 508 both stopped at the same direction was incredible. Shame they got rid all of the 612 sirens (Even though I am not an American or a big siren enthusiast) this video was overall a huge like.
The Modulator 6024 was replaced by a 508. It was still on street view as of 2016 but by now it’s gone as satellite view has been updated and it’s nowhere in sight. The 6024 and the 508 are both on N Garver Rd by the railroad tracks.

Yes mechanical sirens are much better than electronic sirens, but the older dual tone eows were some of the best electronic sirens ever made, in my opinion.
JCRGH the eows line was hastly made so they aren't the best quality, they are definitely cool but wps 4004s are better imo

Sucks to see such a good siren like the 612 go. 🙁 RIP 612 and all the other 612s taken down.
This is a good example of why there's no need for Federal to do anymore rotating electronic sirens. I'm still shocked that they went through the trouble of fixing that old thing up with new parts. It's like setting money on fire. :(

I just captured one of Franklin, OH's 508s this week. Based by my memory, it replaced a Thunderbolt 1000T somewhere between 2011-2014.

Interesting setup there, on New Garver Rd there is a 508 and a Modulator standing within 100ft of each other on both sides of the road. I wonder if they both activate together as well

Rowlett is replacing their T-128s with Whelen WPS 2900s but due to the current state of the new system (as in not being finished), the city has its old system online.
