This, was absolutely incredible. HUGE shoutout to the Forest Hills VFD for being so kind and sounding it off for us, I am forever grateful. Me and Holly decided to take a weekend trip to Pittsburgh to sightsee and catch a few siren tests. What we weren’t expecting was to be treated to a decent sample platter of all SiraTone signals on Forest Hills 612! We originally showed up the night prior for the curfew chimes, only to find that the curfew was no longer in effect for the town, so the chimes no longer go off at 9:45 PM daily. Thankfully, a firefighter was there and was able to set it off anyway for us! Fast forward to the next day, and me and Holly, along side Will, Bruin, and Tom met up at the 612 for its weekly test in wail. Thankfully the fire chief was there because the 612 or the radio was apparently turned off and it failed the county test. After the chief turned it back on, he had the county retone the test, and the 612 roared to life!
After the county test, the fire chief along with a volunteer came out to us and asked if we wanted to hear all of its signals, and we all said yes lol (why on earth would we pass that up!?). So, Will, Holly, Bruin, and Tom all went inside to witness Will activate each signal, and to my amazement, we were treated to pulse wail, alternate wail, pulse, hi-lo (alternate steady), alert, and full chimes! As I write this description a few days later, I am still in amazement and post test shock as to witnessing such an amazing test. I honestly never thought I’d hear these signals in my life!
Again, big shoutout to the Forest Hills VFD for being so kind, you guys have made my entire year! On behalf of everyone, thank you!
Thank you all for watching, and I hope you enjoy the video!

Probably the only 612 that has been documented running alternate steady, let alone all signals.
I believe it’s the only eows, but there’s some videos of modulators doing hi lo on yt
Also one of the few 612s documented running the full 16 step chime
There actually is this video ruclips.net/video/2hqdgOWMRec/видео.html recorded years ago doing a short Hi Lo

The community where I went to elementary school had several EOWS 612s and a 1212. I remember during the statewide tornado drill and siren test, they all ran the steady/alert signal and they used the hi-lo signal for all clear. Unfortunately they were all replaced with FS 2001s in the mid 2000s.
What community was this if you don't mind me asking?
@@thunderbolt10031Brook Park
Strange... the EOWS is already something modern so why replace it?
Beautiful. Awesome that they did all the tones for you guys. The echo on this is insane.
I love people who are dorky as hell about different things. This is great
It must be a BIG privilege when the fire department or whoever controls the siren allows you to do all 7 signals for the purpose of this video.
I never knew there was a 612 in PA. Nice video bud.
That sounds beautiful
Awesome! and the Alternate Steady sounds like a Tbolt 1003 on Chopper level 7 doing Hi-Lo.
Wow! It’s pretty nice of the VFD that they did that for y’all guys!
Awesome job Mitchell!
This is freaking awesome! Now the only other things that we need to hear that I can think of is a super banshee with functioning dampers and a 3t22 running all signals.
either a super banshee or soundblaster. also, those soundblaster 125s would be amazing to see working!

Do these use Atlas DR-42 speakers?
Amazing 🗿
Nice! I founded ivory Coast eas alarm origin! 🇨🇮
How do these work is it just really loud speakers??
There's one of these behind a speedway in Baden. I don't know when it tests or if it's active.
EDIT: I'm pretty sure the siren is active, because its position changes every time we pass it.
The reason it continues to rotate after the chimes, is because the chime cards didn't have the logic to tell the controller when it is done with it's signal cycle. As a result, the siren continues to run with the amplifiers on for the duration of the adjusted signal time. Funny enough, after the chimes, a really high pitched tome ends up going through the speaker drivers.

Yeah!
This is not the Chicago tornado siren, but they sound similar so I can see why it’s confusing.
Can someone explain the purpose of the pulse wail and pulse signals?
Woah nice and spicy
Love the echoes when it winds down! I notice the pitch isn't dropping too. Controller must still be in good condition.
the pitch did drop a bit actually
It dropped down a bit not "IT DIDN'T DROP DOWN" that's false

3:55 Pulse
4:37 Alternate Steady

My question is how loud does it go?
5:29 reminds me of one of Barrington’s 612s
im emotionally sweating
This is what I heard in my childhood
can I get permission to use two sounds?
This is insane
It Makes My Ears Hurt When It So So Loud!!,I'm Very Scared About This Wail Siren😰
Nice video! We could have done a meetup tho!
What does each siren mean?
the chimes are the best...
On a side note, the sound at 5:29 is the one they play close to home by the river every week and sometimes at 1:30am!
There are homes close by it so I don’t know how the hell those people can live with that siren so loud going off every week and sometimes so early in the morning. I think nobody around here sleeps. Jesus!!
I don’t even know why they have to play that every week or if it’s even legal to do that.
I Like this siren 😨
Imagine hearing the last wail in a ghost town
Scary
The pulse wail sounds like someone playing around on a Hawaiian steel guitar
I like alternate wail
I know a vol dept that has 12 cones on theres when firecontrol sets it off boy is that loud 6 on ft 6 on back all it does is wind up for 30 secs then winds down
fucking amazing
i don’t think i’ve ever heard pulse wail
Interesting how it winds down so fast 🤨
Westmister chime is my favorite
The current question I have is
What is going on with the wind down?
That capacitor needs a get well soon card 😂
General meanings of these tones:
Alert: Potential Danger, be advised.
Wail: Imminent threat to life, take cover.
Alternate Steady: Fire call
Alternate Wail: Evacuation order
Pulsed Steady: Chemical spill/Hazmat danger
Pulsed Wail: I have no idea
I’ve heard pulsed wail was used in the past for medical calls, but I have no proof of this
I believe there is another signal called whoop do you know what that one means?
I LOVE the chimes
I just wish you ran the signals longer
This was recorded after the siren already completed its regular test. The fire department likely didn't want to annoy residents.
4:39 thunderbolt?
