Huge sections which are blacked out?😢
Gotta do a re-upload and fix the black out parts!
As someone from a more traditional TKD background (Oh Do Kwan to be exact), the biggest difference I noticed stylistically between the Kukkiwon style or even Edward's old school olympic style and our style was the strike volume. Rather than have long kicking combinations to "pepper" the opponent, we always focused more on landing single, or even the occasional double, strike with intent and accuracy, similar to what you'd find in old school karate. We still set up our strikes, but set ups usually rely on feints and distance management rather than throwing stuff out. I like to think of it like the difference between traditional Muay Thai and something like American style kickboxing.
Very interesting!
I am an Oh Do Kwan practitioner and yes that strike volume is something different indeed. Our school competed in a lot of Karate tournaments rather than TKD tournaments. We still go as I have student that compete in AAU tournaments.
regarding the power/vulnerability trade-off (1:45) -- this is a a general and natural consequence of multi-criteria optimization: no one (or at least, no one who stress-tests their techniques) will choose an attack that is both weak and vulnerable when an improvement in either dimension (or both) is possible
one conceivable exception is if we add a third dimension -- coolness -- and one chooses a cool attack with little power and high vulnerability in order to clown on one's opponent
Wats with the black screen.
1% actual video, 99% ad
Also many parts are backed out.
why did the TV show protect the TKD guy's pride so much? they clearly banned the leg catch because otherwise the TKD guy would've been taken down every time he kicked. yet the TKD guy still can't land his kicks...
Why else? He’s good looking
Do you have any video of Kung Fu working like the movies kind of? I know obviously the sweeps and super fancy stuff is impractical but a lot of things like backfists (not spinning) and lots of parrying and counters are viable but I never see them used even in your videos.
Probably gonna have to feature Ehsan Shafiq more to get that. Stay tuned ;)
@@FightCommentary Anyway what are your opinions on the semi-flashy but more practical Kung Fu moves? Flying kicks are impractical but, for instance, this video shows a lot of the moves that definitely seem more practical: ruclips.net/video/GfSoiAO6iS8/видео.html
It's a choreographed scene but I feel a lot of the moves from the Kung Fu guy are viable.
@@FightCommentarythere is manson gibson, blck bruce lee. He mixed with boxing though but very unique style, you wont see any like it
@@SirPlusOfCamelothigh kicks require space and time. They take a long time that you can dodge, block and also are vulnareble to sweeps or leg grabs that make ez to thow after. In a real fight the best kicks you would use are low kicks. Like kick in nuts. Muay thay low kick. That oblique kick to knee from savate that bruce lee implemented in jet kun do is very good. You do jabs to cover the opponent vision and set up those low kicks. Thats how you fight. In competitive combar they kick high after condition opponents to fear low kicks. Then they faint a low kick and send it high. Techniques like brazilian kick or axe kick coming from a fainted low kick could come in handy. Steeet fight you kick in balls and knee. Faster, safer and more effective than those fency high kicks that is for movies not real fight. Kick in balls for real fight
Who was the TKD guy in this vid?
I'm honestly getting mad that tkd keeps losing when kicks can be enough. TKD needs a rebuild to include basic defenses and PowerShot!😢
I think tkd had the right idea with the video game. All the training without taking head damage.
❤
Why is so much blacked out?
What were the rules exactly ? One time when the Sanda guy had the TKD guy's back, the refree just paused the match and broke the clinch.
Leg grab seems to be forbidden or sanda guy would grab that lag hanging high and throw everytime
Sanda guy has good angular motion.
Try yair Rodriguez teakwando fighter success in mma..
Talk about eye candy!
Thank you for the upload Brother! Please cease with the black screen of Death as I do not like it!!! Show some classic supermodel images of the 80s or something at least!
Peace & Love!
Seems a Amateur Tournament, If someone want prove that are a Elite striker needs fight in Glory that's the organization where the best strikers in the planet are.
But k1 was better than glory just as pride was better than ufc. I think it ended cause yakuza was funding it maybe. Still were the best of mma and modern kickboxing. Andy hug, mike bernardo, peter aerts, fedor, crocop was in both. Many legends
Tiger upper cut
Down to the fighter not the style. If Muhammad Ali misses with a upercut for two rounds does that mean boxing doesn't work.
This is all TV and “ fake “
