Imagine getting thrown in the back seat of a mustang lmao
💀
they won’t be used for that reason. realistically they’ll be used for high speed chase. the ford explorer will be used for back seat transportation.
Pain 😭😭😭
Police brutality.
With cuffs on? On a hot day... them cramps alone gon be a 5 year sentence.
I remember when GM discontinued the Caprice and all you saw was Crown Vics.
Need to bring the crown Vic back
@@ricksadler797 True, & the Caprice too
@@ricksadler797 Yeah the Panther Platform is the best thing to come from Ford. It was so reliable, easy to work on. Great, great platform
@ricksadler797 a coyote crown vic or even with the 2.7 ecoboost
@tacuachandocuh8233 imagine a crown vic with a 2.4, 2.7, 3.0 or 3.5 ecoboost hooked up to a 10 speed transmission. Game changer
Definitely had mustang cop cars in the 80s early 90s with the foxbody.
And im glad they are going back to mustangs

This could be a really great way for Ford to reintroduce the Ford Crownvic
Huh? WTF
I wonder what a 2025 crown vic would look like 🤔😂
I was thinking the same thing, since Stellantis royally fucked up and is ruining everything they can this would seal the final nail in the coffin and make a bad ass sedan come to life, imagine a RWD Coyote 10-speed with 4 doors and of course a Lincoln variant❤

Stellantis- "Dodge," "Mopar," "Jeep," et cetera? just brands they own...
Stellantis is an European company compliant with the Paris Climate Accord.
@@realbhopwood Dodge got rid of the Hemi thanks to being fined for every V8 by our own government. Blame the EPA and Democrats for the loss of the Hemi. We were going to lose the Hemi by 2018 until Trump was elected. We ended up keeping the Hemi until 2023. Chrysler owns more of Stellantis than the Europeans do.
@@PyroBlonde7777isn’t the ford mustang a v8?
@@diegoharo7943 Yes, but Ford calculated never getting rid of the V8, which is why they made the electric "Mustang" SUV. It offset the low MPG of the V8s. Carlos Tavares, head of Stellantis, doesn't want to buy any carbon credits or play that game--he'd rather get ESG money in his pocket, and so won't allow the V8 to continue production.

I'm a former deputy sheriff and I never saw a Vette police car. The best cop car was the 95Caprice with the LT1 Corvette engine. It would burn the tires off from a stand still. It was huge inside, super comfortable, steered like it was on rails, and the nose was short. Nothing could run from it. Then, the P71 Crown Vic. Smaller inside and SLOW AS F. After being in a Caprice for a few years and going to a Crown Vic, life was not good in pursuit world. An unmarked black or dark blue 08 P71 Crown Vic with black steel rims and a dog dish center looks pretty badass. A 351 from a 13 GT500 would be so badass
I definitely have seen corvette police cars in certain states
When I was a kid they had a D.A.R.E. Vette and Camaro. I don't think they used them for patrol but they sure did go around to schools and show a bunch of 5th graders a bunch of drugs and what they do to you.

"back in the day" the fox body had a 4.9L. 302s are 4.9, not 5.
Not true. 1. Municipality budgets will not allow a fleet of 2 door S650'S. 2. As of 2024, the only Ford Police Interceptor in production is the Ford Police F150's & SUV's. Ford discontinued the SSP program in the 90's. 3. While a few cars may be equipped with V8 engines for chases or highway work, the bulk of the patrol fleet is usually V6's, which use less fuel. In either case, police cars require engines that can endure severe use.
Yep no doubt that these GTs will only be used for chases
@@Onlytheclouds not even chases, most cars like this are to show off at car shows and general public outreach
I saw this coming when the announcement came out of the end of the Charger.
You know many departments “stocked up” on the last batches of Chargers just like when the Crown Victoria ended production so they will use them a little longer.
The demise of Dodge is on purpose.
Yup I was just about to say that. This is nothing new
Yup, we’re tryna get more Durangos while we can. They’re actually easier to get than Explorers since they’re so high in demand and backed up with orders.
S650 is the generation lol. Then they have the 5.0 and the dark horse which is also a 5.0 with a few upgrades

@clc2328 that's gonna fly only in Europe and the Stallantis brand is dying quickly in the States as we all see. They didn't think this through.

That car was very impressive back then. The foxbody Mustangs platform from 79-93 is what kept ford in business. ✔ Laker4life
One of my favorites too! Florida still has some of them at their headquarters, so cool!
Ford ought to up the stakes and bring back a new Crown Victoria, but with the 5.0L Coyote V8 and AWD.
Dont forget, all that law enforcement equipment adds considerable weight.
yup sometimes up to 500 lbs
Where are they going to put the perp after they arrest them? In the trunk?
What if they make Taurus SHO 😮
They'll have a SUV copper arrive. Don't worry you'll have a comfy ride to jail.
The Mustang will most likely be a pursuit vehicle.
The idea is to be out there writing traffic tickets and be able to catch the "runners". If there's an actual arrest, they call for a sedan or truck.
They will have a transport unit arrive in either a charger that’s still in service or a ford explorer, etc. the transport vehicle does not have to be the pursuit vehicle!! They will have plenty of transport vehicles that can swing by and haul the fat ass to jail!!
Michigan state police tested wagoneers with 3.0 turbo and results were not good with overheating and oil consumption est life span was 100k on engines.
Could you give us the link on that one? interesting.
& now they wanna put that junk in the new Charger & Durangos lol. We just need new leadership all the way around for Dodge to survive atp
NYC the same! Only Charger, Challenger and Durango's! Although recently I have seen a Mach-E (yuck) and a Tesla (double YUCK) RMP in Queens! Brooklyn had a 5.0 Mustang back in the 90's!
Happy Easter knockout 💯keep it up
Happy Easter bro! To you and your family as well… thank you for the support
Back around 2014-16, I did see a few Mustang GT's running for the Maryland State Police.
You're right that Stellantis has screwed ALL OF US. Not just the Law Enforcement community, but those of us who have bought Hemi Challengers, Chargers, RAM pickups over the years, and that includes the ridiculous unnecessary markups on the Last Call models. Hell, they NEVER should have discontinued the 300, Charger, and Challenger in the first place. It proves that they don't listen to their customer base.
When customers got tired of the old technology, Stellantis was forced into selling more into government fleets.... razor thin margins.
FHP took me to jail in florida back in the mid 1990 in 5.0 foxbody mustang. It had a 1 man cage in the back. It was so tight it was crazy!!!
Happy Easter!! These videos are awesome and very informative!!
I grew up in south Florida, the FHP Florida Hwy Patrol was using Mustangs in the late 80's and 90's. Moved in 2000 so not sure if they still are. They were no joke either, had manual hurst pistol grip shifters. Just thought i would let you know. Thanks. Keep the videos coming.
In Cali they use to have 5.0 Fox bodies in think in GA too
SC too, they been had Mustangs as State Troopers
Florida did too
If law enforcement took a gamble with the ecoboost twin turbo v6s in the explorer/taurus/f150 they can take a gamble with the hurricane 6 cylinder
I’ve seen the fox body mustangs as high pursuit police vehicles and Gen 3 Camaro’s as police. But never saw a corvette other than a parade or show car.

Yup it’s true I just left Kentucky this weekend and I definitely seen them
Florida Hwy Patrol had 302 Mustangs in the 1980s. They would put prisoner's in the passenger seat. Once a Trooper stopped for gas and left the keys in his car. Went in to pay, prisoner jump in driver's seat and took off. Full tank of gas, handcuffed in the front, might have had a little trouble shifting, but he was gone.
Maybe Dodge thought that they were going to sell the Cops their Electric Vehicles. LMAO
No, the Hurricane 6. Why would you say such nonsense? That makes no sense…

Great content as usual knockout! Most local PDs already using the Ford Exploaders. :)
Louisiana had a 5.0 in the 80's or 90's. There is one in there museum in Baton Rouge
In the old mall parking lot in Okaloosa County Florida there are around 80+ Police Dodge Chargers and Durangos, all white ready for agencies that have been sitting for months not moving.
Yes, in every state they buy a huge fleet all at once and over the next twelve months they put them slowly into service when old ones are replaced.
I wouldn't assume Stellantis is smarter than you at this point.
I remember the little notch back 5.0 state patrols here in Georgia!! Been pulled over a couple times in my wild teen years of the late 90's...i swear those things had 300 plus HP.i mean they could MOVE
As someone in the fleet field all law enforcement is moving to Tahoe, Explorer, or full size trucks. They were dumping Dodges long before the end of production because of insurance. Yes, law enforcement has to pay for insurance just like you do, only it's way more expensive. Most departments can't afford the loss of a vehicles in their budgets so they have insurance. All those high speed chase and their outcome have caused insurance to make police package cars un-insurable even for the cops.
We had mustang state troopers here in TX!
I don’t know about NC but up in IL the state police had SSP mustangs (foxbody and newer), 3rd gen and 4th gen Camaro (B4C) from the 1980s onward.
I think Richland County in SC runs Challengers and Camaros but I’m sure that’s going to change soon. 😢
I think Stellantis planned on letting Dodge die off when they bought them.
I think I did see a fox body nc trooper in a pic on Facebook but I don’t know how real it is tho
Yeah, Richland County in SC and their State Troopers have 5.0s as well
Them mfers got everything they been on live pd for at least 8 yrs now an was in ss an rt’s then
I’m from Kankakee IL. I have never seen IL use SSP Mustangs. All I remember is Chrysler’s when I was a kid, then the Chevy Caprice, then the Ford Crown Vic. Gonna have to do some investigating
@@user-ut4zq8mi3l they used to roam I80 (I lived in the quad cities area) but the last time I remember seeing one was in the 90s.
Yes I've seen it! Late 80s and 90s they had the mustang. It was called the Grey Ghost!! When you seen it, it was to late.
I know for a fact that the NCHP used LX 5.0 Fox body Mustangs in the late 1980's and early 1990's as well as Gaston County Police. I am sure others did as well.
Dude you obviously don't know anything about mustangs s650 is just a platform generation the 2015 through 2022 is the S550 the s650 is the new generation😂
Do you think Mustangs are replacing Chargers? For real? No backseat. No trunk. Not really a practical daily police vehicle. The Explorer is having parts issue supplies. A lot of police forces are ordering Durangos. As for Charger when the new ones come out. AWD 4 doors won't be an issue with Police orders. Mustang the SSP is pursuit only vehicle. Like in Ontario they have a few ZO6 Corvettes does it mean the police force.is switching over? No the use Explorers, Durangos and Chargers. What a ridiculous video are Mustangs replacing Dodge's? Answer NO! Just click bait.
Btw, chasing cars down and waiting for a transport is not the plan. They do it, but there not basing there system on that. We'll see the mustang the same amount as we see challengers
Thanks again and great video
What’s crazy is I have seen this for real!!! I was looking at a 5.0 like is that police car!!!???
Damn I hope they put in the ‘Crowd Mitigation System” in them that they put in the Mach E!
Here in Florida back in the day fhp had the fox body mustang , we also do have the 5.0 mustangs
In the state of Florida FHP had foxbody notch backs in the 90s running down all grand national and corvette it was a beautiful thing you can even find a few for sale FHP foxbodys cars one of the prettiest state trooper car right behind the Mercury marauder
Unless the mustang was heavily modded no way its running down a grand national or a corvette.
Down here in Florida when I was a kid Florida Highway Patrol used 5.0 mustangs and some 5 were speed. They also had camaros also.
S650 is the name of the generation of the mustang. The body style between 2015-2023 is S550.
5.0 is the engine capacity, and these mustangs are known to be the GT/5.0 mustangs.
The 5.0 is the motor in new-body Mustangs since 2011. The S650 is the body style. The GT is the competitor to the scat pack which is what these police departments are using. They're probably using a base model because there's no need for the premium. There's also no power difference between a GT premium & a base GT.
Also in the state of florida FHP has been used 10r80 mustangs for about 4-5 years a sliver and dark red from Miami to west palm beach there actually pretty common if you live down here also broward has a scat pack chase car that was seize ultra rare to see a hellcat chase car only seen 2 one in Louisiana and Georgia
I promise you if anything it'll be Ford Explorers, not Mustangs. Maybe a few here and there, but not a whole fleet.
There’s actually a c7 Z06 & a C8 stingray that 2 different departments got added to their fleets but the C7 was a donated conversion
They will not completely change over like that. It’s not that easy. Law enforcement can not put a person who is arrested in a two door car.
Mustang 5.0? Good way to spend our tax pay money
I remember we (south Carolina) had foxbody troopers b4. Crazy to see em come back.
In New England the Chargers never really got a hold outside the state departments. The New Hampshire state police is almost entirely Chargers, but Mass is Explorers. The towns and cities mostly just stuck with Crown Vics and then replaced them with Explorers and to a lesser extent the Taurus.
South Carolina had the Foxbody Mustang back in the 90s
In pa philly area state troopers just got 5.7 chargers
There is a Tesla Police car in Palm Beach County FL. I saw it at the station when I asked about it they said they never use it because it's useless for them. It was a car someone donated to them.
In Texas they had the 5.0 Mustangs with the interceptor packages.
My area has been switching to Fords for a few years now. State patrol still chargers
S650 is the generation of mustang, while the 5.0 is the engine that it uses.
When Ford dropped the Crown Vic, Ford lost to the Charger. Now it's back to Ford after Stellantis drops the Hemi. It's going to hurt Stellantis. One of the biggest problems is City/County departments can't completely go to the Mustang, because they just don't have the room needed to carry arrestees. I guess those departments will have to stick with the Ford POS Explorer.
I'm also in NC and out near Vanceboro, they have at least two Challenger PD cars, one having a ghost scheme. My neighbor's a local cop and he's driving an unmarked Ram. There are also several Rams in the New Bern area. Looks like some of them are going with the Tahoe for the time being and I've seen a few new SHP Explorers, don't know how they will be able to chase someone.
In NC I have seen 3 undercover Dodge Challengers 1-black 1-Red 1-Blue they if they don't turn the light you can't tell and now I have seen 1 undercover BLUE mustang the same nothing visible only when they light up you can tell they are highway patrol.
It's not because the Mustangs are better, it's because Ford is continuing to make Mustangs with V8's while Dodge is discontinuing their V8 line-up and the Police force is not confident in the Hurricane engine. Dodge really didn't see that writing on the wall?? They are dumber than we thought.
Back in the 80’s the fox body lx 5.0ho was used in a highway package in some states.
I live near the Richland county Sheriff garage in Columbia, SC and they have a bunch of 5.0 that they are about put the decals on and put them out in the streets for patrol.
Agencies used the 5.0 LX Mustang in the late 80s and early 90s. The LX was lighter and faster than the GT.
When my department had Chargers, they had 3.5s. That was quite a while ago, ive been retired 5 years, but thise cars were a solute shit. People were fighting to dispatch the few old Crown Vics that were still around. They switched to all SUVs before i oeft.
I don’t think bro knows what he’s talking about they always bought mustangs cop cars
i know it was never used for LE but dodge does have experience with straight 6(slant 6 173, 225)
Nobody with any class wants to buy that line anymore. It's expensive, and a stigma has been irrevocably placed upon them by the criminal element. The car is synonymous with mayhem and lawlessness. The dealer float lots are jammed packed full of unsold units.
Growing up in Fl, FHP definitely had 5.0 mustangs back in the day. The fox body mustangs
I mean, Ford already controlled roughly 50 percent of all police departments, and has significant percentage of firefighter and ambulance contracts as well. (heck, idk if I ever seen a Dodge/RAM in ambulance or firetrucking ever)
They did have late 80s 5.0 mustangs for state police cars and they had 86/87. Grand nationals the police as well. I actually bought a grand national at the state auction that was a state police car.
At some point in the 80’s or 90’s they were using the fox body I think or the the more square body mustang in SC especially highway patrol, but they got away from those because they were so light that they kept wrecking them.
Update: Georgia GSP has added a new C8 corvette to their fleet. Seen it the other day on my way to work
Down here in Florida they have state troopers mustang also
I remember when I was stationed in Washington state in 2012 for the army, I used to drive to Portland Oregon and their state troopers had Shelby mustangs..
ford gotta make a v8 sedan for law enforcements
i seen 2 mustang state trooper in South Carolina the other day at a gas station them thangs look pretty clean 👀
In the 90 there was this notch back mustang cop car. We called it the sleeper lol. In Brooklyn ny
Yes in ga state trooper use to have the 5.0 mustage
The Florida Highway patrol in the 80’s and 90’s had 5.0 Mustang GT but they where all coupes
S650 is the new body design! S550 started in 2015 and ended 2023! A 5.0 is the stock V8! The V6’s discontinued and the Ecoboost 4 bangers with turbo replaced those. GT350 and GT500 are the equivalent to SRT probably even better!
