Ned finds Jason and AJ after the accident. After realizing that AJ is drunk, he covers for AJ, and tells the police that he was the driver. Reginald informs the family about the accident. Monica and Alan talk to Bobbie and Tony about Jason's head injury at General Hospital

if my mom had done the right thing and home schooled me I could have watched One Life To Live and General Hospital everyday and not missed a single episode. instead I only got to see episodes during summer vacations and holiday vacations.

@@LB-gz3ke I agree! For me the show went downhill the minute Sonny Corinthos showed up in 1993. Before that we had actual characters you could look up to or respect.
I love Jason and Sonny……Jason Q was was tear jerking boring and Sonny brought life into the show.
It was interesting at first but when he became the face of the show, that’s where it lost its way.
I remember this still to this day. I was 6 when it aired and heartbroken the same time
If Ned never lied AJ could have got some real help and he might still be alive today.
Plus Alan always fought Monica on keeping AJ in therapy and AA.
I doubt it. Edward would have pulled strings and got him out of it. Then he would have forced them all to cover it up to avoid a scandal. And Edward would have tried to handle the whole thing himself. He would have said something like, “All that boy needs is stability and a firm hand.” Just like he did to Jason when he acted up after the accident and years later, to Michael after his accident. He would have held it over his head forever.
Even if charges had been filed, I doubt he would have gone to jail. He would have been sent to a rehab hospital. He would have dried out and gone home where he would have faced the same family dynamics as before, with the added burden of his guilt and increased pressure from his family, and sooner or later, he would have gone back to drinking.
Alan might have tried to fight his father’s bluster but as always he would not be able to withstand him because he was weak where his father was concerned.
Monica would think she could just love everyone enough to make everything go away. She would be caught between her sons and Alan and Edward, and thus rendered ineffectual.
In the end, things would probably have played out just as they did.
Not that I do not agree that Ned made a mistake. He himself admitted it later. But as long as AJ resided in that house, he was never going to be able to stand on his own Two feet and become a strong, independent man.
No telling what would have happened to Jason if he had stayed. As he once said he would probably have
defied them until they had him institutionalized. Say what you might about his chosen work, you can’t deny he was successful at it and was a strong person. Even Sonny could not make him do something he was determined not to do. It is interesting to speculate about how he would have turned out if the accident had not happened. Would he have been corrupted and become ruthless like the rest, or would he have retained his innate goodness and become what so many said he was, the best of them.
Strange, how each member of that family was bearable by themselves, some like Emily and Lila were delightful.
Alan and Monica were successful in their careers, and if they had moved out of that house, they might have been loving and happy.
Tracy, while manipulative and sometimes vindictive, was definitely a different person away from the family. I think in the end she saw that and that is why she left.
Ned could have been a strong and independent man if he had kept out of the family business and just pursued his music career. Perhaps if he and Lois had moved away as they planned, they could have had a great life. With Lois by his side, Ned could have accomplished anything he wanted.
AJ was already on a downward path long before he was old enough to leave home. It always amuses me when fans say losing his son destroyed him. Nonsense. His character was already formed long before that. He was already a drunk while in high school. He had failed at just about everything he tried. His only hope was not just leaving home but leaving town. As he proved after he almost died. But what happened when he returned? Disaster. He should have stayed away and made a life for himself.
Even Edward, when he was away from his family where he did not have to have control over each of them could be charming If he could have restricted his obsession to control to business, his family would have been much better off.
There was something fundamentally destructive about that group living together in that house. It started with Edward and permeated down to each of them until most of them were poisoned by anger, greed, and vindictiveness.

Sean Kanan the actor of AJ Q decided to leave the role of Aj because of the writing, he didnt like it, he wanted a love story because thats the root of soaps, but it didnt go that way. So they let him leave and he returned as Deacon sharpe on B&B@

I have never understood the lengths that the Quartermaine's went to after this to protect him when the truth is that this is why they lost Jason. It was A.J.'s fault that he nearly died and that he lost all of his memories. That is why Jason did not become a doctor and Sonny had nothing to do with it. Of course it is so much easier for them to blame Sonny instead of facing the reality that they were the ones that are to blame for Jason's accident. I'll never think that A.J. deserved pity or sympathy for understanding of any kind when he was a drunk and he got behind the wheel of a car with his brother as the passenger and Jason nearly died because of it and they were lucky that all he lost were his memories.

@@Nanubaby3385 but Jason knew better. He willingly got in the car with his brother knowing he was drunk. He was fighting with his brother in the house, fought over the keys but AJ won and he jumped in with him. Every one blames AJ but Jason needs to take responsibility as well, like he wasn't wearing his seatbelt, his seatbelt could have prevented him from flying out of the car. No being drunk isn't an excuse but the blame shouldn't all fall on AJ.
Tara Herren he didn’t even have time 2 put his seatbelt on & he was just trying 2 help his loser of a brother so that he didn’t kill himself. At any rate he should’ve just let him ram himself into that tree but you know what they say no good deed goes unpunished

Ned needed to mind his own business. He caused Alan and Monica too much trouble with his meddling and lies. He should have just let the truth be the truth - cause it came out anyway...just like his affair with Monica and his meddling with Emily during the Dorman murder. He means good - but lying never helps. Ned lost Lois because he just could not get that.

What happened to dr. Steve hardy
He passed away of a heart attack (the actor in real life) 5 months after this episode aired. He was the original star of GH from 1963 to 1996.
I miss Ned glad he is coming back to bad AJ is going when he is coming back those two had the best rivalry.
Alcoholism is a disease. Both Alan and Monica had addiction problems in past, it was in AJ's genetic make-up. IT looked doesn't help to play favorites, Alan and Edward did that.
What was Monica’s past addiction problem? I remember her developing alcoholism after Emily’s death I didn’t she suffered from addiction before that? I didn’t know Alan suffered from addiction to before his drug problem that happened after this? What problems did they have before AJ?

Shahanna Grey No it was parked in front of the main house. But no one in the house saw what happened. AJ rushed of the house and saw the new car. He got in it. Everyone else stayed in the house? Jason followed AJ out and jumped into the car just as AJ drove off. They crashed near the gatehouse. Ned was at the gatehouse and heard the crash. He rushed out to see what happened. Ned’s story made perfect sense.

I've been watching GH for 45years now and I remember everything! Jason shouldn't have gotten into that car with Aj being drunk they should've taken AJ's keys Alan said nothing but the truth but Monica didn't want to here Alan disowned Aj from everything and Monica was just disagreeing. ..
Yeah if it was Anyone else like Edward or Alan that found them at the crash, they wouldn’t have protected him this time and would’ve just handed him to the police!

The only biological son of Alan and Monica was such a lowlife. I'm just glad Michael seems to have a good head on his shoulders.
I'd forgotten how manipulative and scary Ned and Edward were both in this scene. Almost as bad as Carly in some ways! If I'd been Reginald, I would have left the family that night. I wouldn't want to get caught up in a bunch of lies that Ned had set up, when Ned would only yell and probably bully you later on if you didn't keep up your end of the story he was telling about how Jason got hurt! This is how Ned lost Lois, because of all of his deceit, here. I did like Ned a lot before this, but sometimes he went too far with his lies.
If you still watch the show Ned is back and is being manipulative again. He is trying to get Michael fired even though ELQ is the best it been in years under Michael leadership.

Why didn't Ned tell the Cops that AJ was drunk! He was the one driving! Not Ned! He didn't even tell Alan and Monica that and that's AJs parents, that's so stupid! Because AJ went on to do more damage to Jason, he was so jealous of his brother he even referred to Jason as the golden boy!

I guess Tracy kids proved to last the test of time with Ned and to a lesser extent Dillion....Alan's kids are pretty much all dead AJ,Emily.....Jason might as well be and has been dissociated since the beginning of 1996. Even though he was a raised a Corinthos it would be ironic if the child of the screwup AJ turned out to be the Quartermaine family saving grace. And while by blood Jason's kids might be Quartermaines not sure they will ever truly feel like one or part of the family I hope they don't actions should have consequences just like the accident did...I think Skye's daughter has a better chance of that.
