    if you don`t want to do a CP 3 conversion there is an alternative you can replace the stock fuel pump preasure regulator that has a 100 micron screen with a Exergy fuel pump pressure regulator that has a 20 micron screen .this will not keep the CP4 from gernading but will keep the fragments contained so the fuel rail, injectors and return Line don't get metal in them. they are about $250 plus instillation. lubricity additive added to the fuel with every fill up will decrease the odds of a pump failure.

  • @mrnotnomis
    @mrnotnomis 3 года назад +11

    I did a CP3 conversion on mine, but I found a carb-compliant one - no tuning required. I wanted to keep my truck as stock as possible for a while, but I wanted to get rid of the CP4. S&S has one for 2600, and I had it installed for another 1500. S&S makes a bypass kit that will save the fuel system in case of failure, but you'll still be stuck somewhere It IS way cheaper though at 400. The conversion I had done has served me well. Added a sump and Air Dog lift also - just to I can run below 1/4 tank if I need to.

    Get a better fuel pump pressure regulator with a 25 micron screen for the cp4 for $50-$275. You do not need to replace the CP4, you do not need to get a new tune, you do not need to get a new exhaust system to be cool, and you do not need to remove the Def system. I would recommend the fuel pump and that’s about it. 300,000 mile Duramax 2016 here. I don’t like the Def system, but I can tell you when your state decides to regulate and do emissions checks on diesel trucks you’re gonna be screwed if you have to put it back on. Telling people to delete something like that could put them in another financial burden down the road. You should probably run a little bit of a disclaimer in this video. Especially since you’re telling them to violate federal EPA requirements with a delete.

      Terrible advice since way to CP4 have imploded with lift pumps and fuel additives. If yours has last that long good for you but it still can go anytime. And $3500 vs $10_12k is much better. Besides they do sell emissions compliant cp3 kits if you’re worried about future changes.

      From the little I know I did a lift pump so the factory doesn’t have to work so hard pumping fuel from the back(fuel tank) to the engine. Took me and a friend an hr 1/2. Pretty straight forward.

    I gotta be honest I really like the cp4 it's more precise and I like it, yes if it catches air bubbles it shreds it self but that problem can easily be negated by just putting a lift pump and keeping the fuel level above a 1/4 tank then you don't really need to worry about them. Mine has lasted 204k and has had no issues.

      It’s a ticking time bomb reguardless they were designed in the uk where the fuel as more additives the reason for the lift pump is unlike the fords and why they live longer is the duramax has no supply pressure to the pump it’s just pulling from the lift pump on the back of the cp4 so the lift pump alone will help. Just not an 11k dollar gamble I would like to take personally I put a cp3 in my truck and haven’t looked back once. But at the end of the day I don’t believe in fuel additives and it’s just my opinion

      @nicetomeetme5150 3 года назад +1

      @@JustCallMeTango I hear ya, but that's you versus the fed, irs and epa. Also, these new diesels on the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks are built to keep moving, not short trips and idling. People have put half a million miles plus on their hotshot rigs with all emissions intact. The baby diesels in the half ton trucks I think were optimized for short trips and idling. So long reply made shorter, look into a half ton diesel if it's use is just for getting around town and occasional pull and get a 1 ton if your gonna put 30,000 miles a year on it.

      Just can’t be idiotic with this shit. Of course dot is gonna pull you over if they see massive amounts of soot coming out of gigantic exhaust pipes out of your 2016 diesel. But no one seems to understand the best place to hide is in plain sight. Keep it simple stupid. The minority of the people who do this are the ones that’s want to keep their expensive trucks for as long as possible & not have to replace everything every time a sensor goes bad. It’s bullshit.
