Man, I made $42,000 in the past couple months in sales. Appreciate the reminder to continue rewarding myself. I treat myself, but not as intentionally as you’re describing. Love this!
Can I ask what type of sales you are in? I have been in sales for years, but I work in education and we don’t make commission. I do very well for an average middle class income, but I feel like I am very skilled on the phone and am curious where these huge incomes are coming from in sales? I am an hourly employee and it’s more stable, but I am curious if your income is pure commission based? Do you have any advice for helping me get over the fears of pure commission work? Thanks!
@@tlee05l for sure, no haterism in my game, lol I really just hear figures like Pat described and I’m curious if it’s a cut of that amount or total take home. If so great! But I would like to know! Ha

Every person who has been in high level sales for a major organization has seen this or something similar to this… at least 6 times in the last two years. We are literally inundated with messages of this type every three months….wrapped up in the latest sales strategy course….by the guy who just wrote the new book…that is actually identical to the book that came out way back in 1992…and so on..
Man, 1000% facts. The rewarding myself part is great for me to hear because I've logged that in my notes after coming to that realization myself 5 years ago or so. To hear that repeated from a man I look up to and respect so much is amazing confirmation that I'm on the right path, while also even further raising my confidence in his words because I've already been living in and experiencing the truth in his words. Powerful. I'm very grateful 🙏🏿
Sales almost always involves lying. The soul can only take so much, and drinking every night eventually stops working. Being a successful salesman, yet again, almost always involves deception. Getting out of "sales" was the best thing I ever did for my family and self.
What were you selling? Anytime you lie as a salesman, you go one step backwards, no real sales Job should be about deceiving the customer, Because in the long term you are gonna fail miserably
I don’t believe that to be true. Do not lie. Tell the truth. If your client gets mad, that’s their poor handling of emotions. You need to be a transparent being. It’s ALWAYS better to tell the truth than it is to lie. No exceptions
This is wonderful and what an opening eye. Do the hard work, and reward yourself for every big or little accomplishment. And remember, rewarding yourself does not always mean spending big money or going into debt. A lot of the times, taking your wife out to dinner and connect with her, to speak about the future, will be priceless.

Problem is social media and consumerism . Its very hard to absentee yourself from that unless your grew up with smart parents who thought you the value of a dollar.
The purpose of life is not to make money but to be disciplined, be like water. Reward yourself after a BIG project but don’t be too comfortable because that too will burn you out. I was making $6k a month before covid then I quit for a year. The beaches, parties, horsing around get boring after a while.
A friend of mine who is now resting in peace who had become one of the most successful attorneys at Seattle tells me one time when I went by his firm to discuss a legal matter I had found myself in, and after telling him and showing him thee evidence against me I said to him Marc I haven't been in trouble since the last to went to court for me! That was about a 13 or 14 year time frame, Marc looked at me and says Ryan, in life we do not get rewarded for not getting in trouble! Lmao! I don't know why this crossed my mind watching this but I felt like sharing it!!! Thanks Brother Marc!!! ✌️☮️🙏❤️👁️
If you listen to this guy you'll not only burn out... you will burn out and be trapped because you've burnt all your cash. This is great advice to tell sales people you have working FOR you though....
Setting goals that you actually care about is key. I have the hardest time with that. I've bought everything I've ever wanted and all the stuff I haven't bought costs huge amounts of money. It's hard to find smaller and achievable things I care about to look forward to as I keep pushing for the real big stuff.
Sometimes the rewards aren't worth the suffering. You can accumulate rewards thinking that it will bring happiness and gratification, respect, etc. When I left my wife in my mid 50's for a 20's trophy wife, I realized what was really important.
It’s hard to write what goes on my mind when I watch videos like this one and at the same time see what’s going on around us. From a sales person point of view the burn out is real. But there is a lot here and I mean a lot.
I broke my sales goal and set a record this year of 1.5 million in hvac for myself. And I paid off some credit and bought slot of crypto and that’s very rewarding for me knowing the money I spent now will give me more and bigger pleasures in the future.
Great episode, but unfortunately too late for me. :) I've been a Head of Sales & Biz Development in an IT company, worked 24/7/365, and burned out after 3 years in the industry. Had to take a position 100500 times lower to just re-charge myself. I never got back to top positions - just couldn't (those who know what a burnout is, will understand). Starting my own business seemed to be the solution. I wish I understood that I need to reward myself back in the days. But then if I didn't burn out? I wouldn't take that leap of faith and make major changes in my career (and mindset, too).

When I have a good Month/Year I reward myself by prepaying bills for the next year so the following year I can work with a clear head, only select the work that I WANT to do, and have less stress (that is my reward... having no boss or bills) . And when I have $ left over after that, I invest in other business projects. Problem with buying watches , vacations and fancy dinners if you have regrets about the spending if the next month/year is not as good.

To me, I think the biggest reason why people are even in sales is be rewarded with how much they make and what initially they drop some of it on with it. You have to be in a very dark place to even think of it just as a job when you get to help people daily solve their own problems.
I used to work as a sales person in Spain. Worked long hours 11/12/13 hours a day, away from home weeks at a time... I sold a lot... But at the end of the month I got paid shit.... I thought maybe later they will increase it... Never... I sold a lot but never was able to afford the shittiest of rewards... That is the worst feeling a dedicated person could feel...

Still not paying for the mafia show
Cool story: my cousin and a friend from a famous mechanic school for motorcycles. Went target shooting and motorcycling in the desert. My cousin goes over the basics of the bike for 10 minutes or something About 10 seconds later I bust my arm like a PVC pipe Told the 2 people as I'm lying on my back when they finally ran up the hill which felt like hours really is lireally it was 2 minutes told them to go get the duct tape, the ammunition boxes, and some sticks and made myself a splint. When we went to the hospital about an hour or so late to get out of the desert et cetera. The people at the front desk were amazed and asked when the doctor cuts it off can we check out what you did. The X-ray comes back. I broken my left Humorous bone in 3 places. Think how a pbc pipe breaks. Doctor goes if you hadn't done what you did we'd be talking about an apputation.
