As a person who was there at the time, there were a lot of bands that the main stream didn't know about. Few were on radio because of time. It all depended on who you hung out with and what they listened to.
Glad you liked it...I'm glad I was the one who requested it. Just a side note...this is the late great Lee kerslake on drums who is best known for playing on Ozzy's first two classic albums Blizzard of oz and Diary of a madman. Rock on T!
Uriah Heep got very little radio play. Stealin' or Easy Livin' was about it. At least in the US, they had a bigger following in Europe. I saw them live 3 times back in the day - amazing live band.
They were fairly popular in Europe. I don’t know why they never made it in US. I do recommend their earlier stuff though which is perhaps bit more Deep Purple/Led Zeppelin style.
Uriah Heep has been in my top 5 favorites since I heard them in the early 70s. On the classic rock stations in Houston, they pretty much played "Easy Livin'" and "Stealing". Sometimes a few other songs
Great late Lee Kerslake playing the Over The Mountain drum fill in rhe middle of the guitar solo. He also played it after Randy's solos in I Don't Know and Crazy Train 🤘 This is a great song!!
My favorite as a teenager. The title song to this album, Return to Fantasy, Beautiful Dream are amazing. Sweet Freedom is my favorite album by them. My other favorites from back in the day were Grand Funk Railroad and Ted Nugent .
my sister had this album and i borrowed it all the time. still my favorite album by them. good 70s rock. they still make music and tour. opened for Judas Priest recently. but yeah they werent in the mainstream here in the states.
You're definitely right this band stands alongside all the other greats they have a large body of work that is phenomenal if you want to hear the most the most wicked slide guitar try the song tears in my eyes guaranteed to blow your mind!!
I saw Uriah Heep only once but it was during their Demons and Wizards Tour. What a great, high energy band. Some of my favorite bands from the 70's...Not The Usual Suspects Montrose Crack The Sky Captain Beyond Roxy Music Todd Rundgren's Utopia (original lineup) The Dixie Dregs Poco Little Feat
I have loved this band since back in the day and always thought not only were the underrated but overlooked as well. Enjoying you enjoying their music. HNY
My youth in music...Dang ....the list is large. I lived in the Philly area, we heard it all before it rolled across the country. No need to say we heard it all!!!!! Shady Lady. You sure looked like you liked it 😀 We had the best music when I was a kid!!
Uriah Heep is one of my favorite bands. Thanks for covering. You really need to cover King's X, particularly the Gretchen Goes To Nebraska album. Power trio that is widely regarded by other bands as the most underrated band still touring.
I was there, and I'm a huge fan of Heep. They did get some songs on the radio (easy livin and Stealin') but they were a fans band right down the line, all the way! We couldn't get enough of them and still can't. Kinda like the Grateful Dead's Deadheads! Mick Box is still going with Uriah Heep and they still sound great!
You also need to react to IT'S A SAD WORLD- BLOODROCK a hugely under-rated group. Their music is so good, I've wondered for years why they weren't bigger.
They weren’t very popular in the states, the only songs I remember on the radio was easy living and that’s the way that it is, such a shame cause they were and still are amazing!!! New single from the new album rocks!!
Uriah Heep has been around for 53 years. You just lost touch. They have a brand new album out called "Chaos & Colour" It is FANTASTIC!!! I highly recomend it!!! Guitarist Mick Box has kept Heep going for 53 years and counting.
There are better songs from this album than Shady Lady. Devil's Daughter is a solid rocker, but overall the Return To Fantasy album doesn't rank as high as Uriah Heep's best releases--those being Look At Yourself, Demons And Wizards and The Magician's Birthday. As far as radio airplay and Uriah Heep go, the only songs I ever heard were Easy Livin', Sweet Lorraine and Stealin'.
There are much better songs on that album and I'm not aware of any of them getting radio play in the SoCal area..... Uriah Heep has always been basically a cult band that few people were aware of, but those that were/are...... are committed fans
Favorite rock bands of the 70s are Nazareth, Deep Purple, Grand Funk Railroad, Rainbow's "Stargazer", Uriah Heep's "The Wizard." And others.

Uriah Heep is such a cool band. Very underrated.

Had an album or two in the 70's, but forgot about them. I am so ashamed. I think you are sending me down a rabbit hole. Thanks

Top group great music.
Thats Uriah Heep
This was not on the radio as far as i know. Two other songs off the album were singles.

Beautiful Dream is an amazing song from the Return to Fantasy album. Mind blowing synths.
Great late Lee Kerslake playing the Over The Mountain drum fill in rhe middle of the guitar solo. He also played it after Randy's solos in I Don't Know and Crazy Train 🤘 This is a great song!!
an underrated Heep classic. I doubt this got radio play back then, but it was part of the band's live show in 75

Thanks for heep truly underrated
I have a lot of favorites Two of them are ELO and Styx. There are so many good songs between them, I can't really choose one.
"Only the Young" is good.
You also need to react to IT'S A SAD WORLD- BLOODROCK a hugely under-rated group. Their music is so good, I've wondered for years why they weren't bigger.
Minimal play back in the day on the radio if any..... You would just hear it mostly underground radio
Beautiful Dream same album alot of synsizer high vocals
They weren’t very popular in the states, the only songs I remember on the radio was easy living and that’s the way that it is, such a shame cause they were and still are amazing!!! New single from the new album rocks!!
Luv This Band....Have You Checked Out......FOG HAT?...I Think You Will Like...
Magicians birthday or Easy livin,😊check it out.
Love it
Have you guys taken a look and listen to The Alan Parsons Project? I know you'll love it
Not on radio only stealing and easy livin
They weren't around very long. So they get lost in the shuffle.
