The Vulture reminds me of an insect: the front bumpers remind me of mandibles, the swept back wings on the top looks like the folded wings of something like a wasp, and the two ridge looking things on the top remind me of antenna.

Having flown my vulture to Colonia recently with a 15ly jump range (earning me 60 million), I respectfully disagree that it cannot be an Explorer (who just happens to have massive engines and multi-cannons). You just have to be a "certain type" of explorer who enjoys a challenge. I've done over 40,000ly's in mine across the galaxy without issue. Good vid as always Thanks, See you out there cmdr.
see you can explore even in Fed gunship(shortest jumprange in game), but the typical "long range" exploration is normally done with sips with good jump ranges...still ..colonia with vulture.. .oh man... that's something!
I did it in a pre-2.3 Orca. Also 15ly. It's... an adventure.

My vulture = The ship where life support switches off when I decide to start shooting. Someday I'll engineer it to fix this, but I kinda like the crazy feel of it.

Short range inertial impact burst turrets are perfectly fine with this ship. Turrets save some energy allowing you to keep more in the engines while short range+inertial impact more than compensate for the loss of dps. With 4 in engines, 2 in weapons with the maneuverability of the Vulture and the firing arc of turrets you'll have pretty much 100% uptime on your weapons while allowing you to focus completely on staying out of your enemies weapons. It's so strong that it feels like cheating.

Fitting turrets is never "dumb" in space, regardless of the ship. If anything, it's ridiculous that Frontier would even give the option of fixed weapons for futuristic spacecraft.
I agree. ANd it's not only that. The "flight assist off" mechanics is completely dumb. Ships should have two modes: Atmospheric mode (thrusters control the ship's stability and ensure that it flies forward, with main engine support), and Space mode (thruster correct the ship's position to ease newtonian physics. The ship flies in the direction the thrusters push it, and keeps the speed vector)
the only bs about elite's flight model is the existence of a boost button. other than that it is a good representation of real life spacecraft.
Hawkins sounds a lot clearer. Maybe you should invest in a better mic setup. I like the review though.
we have different mics and ye mine is... the entry lever of pro mics so not the best, and i did the best to level out both equally... needs work indeed!

I believe that the main reason the bumpers being there in the front, is to protect the canopy... you wouldn't want a shot from the side to blow up your head wouldn't you? ^^'

Hopefully the next ship from CD we get will be a ship between Eagle and Vulture (called the Falcon or something) with 2 medium hardpoints with all other stats and price somewhere between Eagle and Vulture. The argument being, if you're making a dedicated combat ship in the small class of ship there's really only 2 options. One being 44k credits and the other at 4.9mil. Feels like there needs to be something in between that gap.

Flash Dancer. Vulture grade 5 everything. Spent 1 weeks in Combat Zone to get 10,000,000 for Sol engineer. Vulture won 300 or so - 0. Kills included 5 corvettes, 30 pythons, 30 fas, etc etc.

@Yamiks can i make a question? how come you died from a single impact? I mean if you flew a combat vulture then you had shields and even going at full speed won't break them, not to mention the hull integrity that's why it sounds illogical for me to hear that you died in one impact.
What ship should I get after vulture? I fly Eagle-Viper Mk.III-Vulture respectively and i prefer manoeuvre than tank.
To be fair, if you prefer manoeuvre ability over tank, you are basically set with the vulture. If you do want to upgrade though, the alliance ships are the way to go.
I got my Vulture up to 470 Boost speed just by visiting Felicity Farseer with Grade 3 Dirty Drive Tuning. The only downside to this is, combined with the crazy maneuverability of the Vulture, I constantly end up floundering and losing all my forward momentum when I do a turn. With practice, I'll be able to stop that, but for now, I'm going to enjoy leaving others in the dust.
Ok so I am new to the Vulture I have only had it for a week and I have been using consistently in the LHS 2094 community mission. I am just wondering how are you guys setting up you ship so that you have that much shield power and still able to run a beam laser without overpowering or overheating. I am running a 5A PD and 4A PP with 2 shield boosters, point defense, and a KWS. I still don't think that I am getting that kind of shield power. I will say that I do very well with this ship though just need to know if I can improve.
Outside engineering, you have to set your power priorities. I forget the name of the tab, but it's on the right hand panel. Set everything like FSD, Cargo Hatch, and anything not related to combat to priority 3. When you deploy your hardpoints, the ship will automatically shut down the unneeded systems. You can also use a third booster, although it may need to be a lower grade then A.
Other then that, make sure you're using low grade Sensors/KWScanner as the high grade ones tend to suck juice.
Post 2.1 I find the killing power of the Vulture too slow for combat zones, and have upgraded to the FAS as my CZ ship of choice. Except for the lousy shielding I see it as the perfect upgrade to the Vulture. Do not think you have reviewed it yet, but then its Fed and you ar a bit .... biased. Another great review.
Simon Smith I think clipper would be a better choice... More space, more shields, and the same guns. Only issue is you'd need to equip gimbals.

As an absolute beginner in this game i put two turreted pulse lasers on it 🤣🤣🤣 works incredibly well against pirates i can concentrate more on flying while not needing to worry about anything and keeps shooting at anything at any angle so far works great for a noob 🤣🤣
vulture would be perfect with a grade 5 powerplant and a higher top non boost speed. this is the reason why i sold my vulture to an fer de lance, because fer de lance has a large powerplant for its size and can reach around 300 m/s without boosting that makes it great for outmanoeuvring vessles when you need speed instead of pitch, roll, and yaw
Been planning on upgrading from my I-Courier to the Vulture, Although I can trade in the Courier for the Vulture, I'm guessing it's not such a good idea to Bounty Hunt with basic/stock modules and everything.
BUT, what I'm the most worried about is having most Core Modules, (Thrusters, Life Support, Power Distributor, and Sensors) both Weapons, and the Shields active, even with a maxed Power Plant, and quickly getting enough money to cover the Insurance/Rebuy cost.
I was laughing so much watching this I learned nothing about the Vulture. Only just discovered you guys. Just subscribed.

Alas the tedium of powerplay was nerfed in the accelerate-ticket purchase cost so I can’t even long term idle my money to the point where I can just play what little fun there is in the game without face planting the trade/RES-spin-to-win/FTL screen fir excessive periods of time.

Remember kids , no matter what ship you get nothing compensates for bad decision making dont drink and fly dont do drugs and dont start firing on everything cause your excited about your new ship and get a 58 million dollar bounty on your head . I have flown just about every ship, and I just cannot get behind the vulture. It just doesn't do it for me. Especially if you happen to lose shields. Every single time that happens you end up sucking space dust. Seriously the only combat ship that I fit an A rated life support on just because I'm too lazy to jump to a station right away. This ship is excellent combat ship. Unless your me and hate it.
This is a combat ship. Its also the only ship ive had a canopy breach in.

I just bought the vulture today, fitted with 2 burst lasers. Coming from a viper mkIV (the free one), this thing just broke through a depression if I'dd had one (from flying viper mkIV). Seriously. Where I struggled with finishing massacre missions gaining perhaps 2-3 million credits, a lot of frustration and broken cannopees in conflict zones, I now easily make 10 million in an hour not dying once with vulture. So to those who don't have one yet and do mercenary work/power play combat... Just buy it, you bastard. It's like a vodka induced jetfighter. What can possibly go wrong.

Going from my Imperial Eagle to the Vulture was a bit jarring but so god damn empowering. The only complaint is it's lack of speed and FRAGILE CANOPY. Granted after that I moved over to the Krait which isn't much better but alas.
Overall i like the look of this ship, but i just wish it had more hardpoints (and all the ships in general in this game did), even one extra small one for launching missiles.
(And that apart from funds right now has me holding off get the ship 'til i've tried pretty much all the other fighting ships.)
(Or instead of that if all the ships in this game had dedicated missile launchers separate from their main guns, like most other games do :) .)
I'd like to see other heavy fighters in the game. It would be nice to see near peer ships to give you options. Not carbon copies just ships that are similar in there mission
Bought a Vulture this morning after getting annihilated in my Eagle getting into a fight I thought I could win. After kitting it, I've taken down 3 Anacondas, 2 Dropships and countless Asp Scouts, Vipers, Eagles and Sidewinders solo. Haven't broken a sweat or had my shields dropped once.
I remember reading combat in a Vulture is almost unfair ... now I see why.

WHAT THE FUCK. Elite Dangerous has ABSOLUTELY NO BALANCE, btw, cutter's shields easily reach into the thousands, and when fully buffed can reach THIRTEEN THOUSAND MEGAJOULES

Loved my Vulture....mainly flew it pre engineers so it never did get beefed up that way
actually me 2.. i got conda and then got horizons.. so i remember how fucking hard it was to balance out weapons, thrusters , shields & anything else!
It was great for bounty hunting but survival in combat zones wasn't all that good.
I like my vulture. It's a fun ship to bounty hunt in. But I prefer my Federal Assault Ship, which has none of the flaws concerning power plant problems and also comes with more firepower.

Aaron Claydon gotta upgrade your shields, power plant, throw some multi cannons and beam lasers (gimballed) on there, get a chaff launcher, kill warrant scanner, and anything else you see that can help the ship fight the way you need it to
Turrets equal more overall time on a target making for more overall dps.
There is use for a second seat in vulture - invite ur friend to the board of ur highly engineerd vulture and show off/help newbie with bounties when he is just afk/watching guides)
...or to afk in your cockpit and give you an extra pip.
Hawkins....focusing the way you described in about the "Bumpers" on the side was a very bad misstep, haven't you heard of "Tunnel Vision" which can get you killed. As any pilot who would know a thing or two about combat is you must be fully aware utilizing what you can see visually and what your instruments are telling you. "Focusing" as you stated will get you killed.

Bought the ship 2 days ago and I absolutely love it. Upgraded from a Cobra 3 and it's "just" the shield generator and energy distributor I need money for. Shit's expensive. The shield gen costs about 1 M more than the ship itself...

hehe you should see each ships armor costs... basically to get military grade armor you have to buy the ship again.. or more!
~180M for the 'conda's military grade + 7A shields, I'm still crying about it ;_;
I actually prefer the 7C Bi-weaves and I tried both....mind you the extra 10% regen speed secondary effect I got the on Bi-weaves when i did the thermal mod really helps
I'm in two minds about the military grade armour.....would tie up lots of cash and play merry hell with jump range

Great ship indeed. Just to easy to handle. What i mean i can kill stuff in my sleep with it. People who loves that, great. But for me it gets boring. So i use other ships. But for people who are not me will have a great time in it. Good review btw😄

Eh, the vulture was never my go to combat ship due to only having 2 class 2 hard points and juggling the power around. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad ship at all by any means and it can hold it's own for a good bit, it just doesn't fit my Style
