Angela basset has played so many rolls and she literally does not change her style of acting one bit. Yet somehow she still manages to embody every single character she’s played. It’s so weird.
I think every actor has their "thing" that they do subconsciously, almost like a trademark. In her case it's the way she cries lol. Acting wise, shas a good range but I noticed that she cries the same no matter what movie she's in.
Even though the Jackie character is fictional, this is a pivotal scene. The way she impersonates Ike, then Tina, breaks open the fact that she understood too well what was happening. It's a brilliant piece of acting, as well as a great storytelling device.
Tina must have stayed bc ike broke her down so much she probably did not think she could do it without him ( the music ,) plus they had 4 boys to raise. Also I think the days turned into weeks than years & tina might have been just afraid that maybe she was a relic from the 60s & early 70s & she was with ike since she was 18. Once she made the final decision to go she felt so good. She was free. Her huge solo success did not come over night. She worked as a house keeper for people she knew in the industry but her son said she did not feel embarrassed bc she took all 4 boys , 2 were ikes not hers. He said his mom came home dead tired to this petite little house but so happy. Shows u the money & fame means nothing if u are unhappy or abused. It must have terrified her to start all over but she did Hotel shows , dinner theater cabaret then her manager scouted her at one of her shows & they made her monster album private dancer. Shows u in life if u have a goal & work hard u can start over at any time. Good for tina !
And Sadly...her Manager who resurrected her career died last year. His name was Rupert Hine who over 50 years delivered various productions to your favorite artists in the 80s and 90s. He's had quite a resume of work and accomplishment and will never be forgotten. Thank you Rupert. RIP.
She did not work as a housekeeper...when she was staying at Wayne Shorter's house she was so full of energy and needed to think that she could not stand without doing nothing...that’s how she started arranging their wardrobes and cleaning their house..this is what she wrote in "I, Tina". Plus, my idea is that she stayed with Ike because she could not accept the idea of abandoning him ...she knew what suffering was and she didn’t want to inflict it on him. After her conversion to buddhism she started seeing things in a different way and finally she became ready to look for her personal happiness. Her karma had come to an end.
Watching Tina and Jackie make a mockery of Ike was hilarious lol. However, Tina only joined in just to take her mind off the abuse she was going through as she stopped laughing and broke down; I felt bad for her when she snapped back into her traumatic reality 😢.

I'm not a buddist but I do love God and I believe when life gives you problems you have to stay positive to be happy in life and when I saw this instead of me chanting to Buddhist, I started chanting (praising) to God and it worked and it helped me let go of the anger and some of the problems I had in my life.

One thing I see as a Christian i see,, is how so many ppl are judgmental.. Buddhism is not a religion,, its a peace based system that originated in East India, prior to Christianity. A way of life, to find peace and strength through emptying your mind from the BS and struggles around you.. Today, its a way of life that invites all religions,, so there are many ppl that practice Buddhism while also keeping their own religion... Like a Christian can also practice Buddhism while not being in violation of Christ.. Plus Buddha means Awakening or The Awakened One.. Wake up and unplug yourself from the Matrix
Well,yes and no I was raised christian,Christian, have been practicing Buddhist 37 yes In Buddhism,Buddhist, is an element of "Grace" but all life has karma,good and bad to be worked through So a Christianity teaches the Jesus died for our sins,Buddhism says we have to expiate our own causes
