We were put outside when my mother took a beating by a man she married once. We were young children and we were outside crying, screaming, and hollering, it's something you never forget.
Watching this again and really thinking about how people really endure this type of hell for years scared me. Thankfully, I've never been in, nor have I witnessed abuse in a relationship before. This just hit different seeing it again. Tina's husband said she still had nightmares and PTSD from the years of abuse. What happened to her has been made so taboo and joked about. It's truly terrifying to see it acted out on screen.

That traumatized the hell outta me as a kid hearing Tina’s screaming & Ike beating her & it still has me heated till this day that Ike is nothing but a piece of shit
My dad was brutal like that. When I was a kid, he used to slap around my mother whenever she got in his face. I used to hate him because I was too little to do anything about it. By the time I was old enough to kick his ass, he had a stroke and was no match for me. When I got out of the military and came home to visit, I told him he had nothing to fear from me because the guy I wanted to f*ck up was in the past. He was so afraid of me that he carried a gun, just in case. To me, he was a coward -- and passed away as a coward.
Angela & Laurence should have received an Oscar for this performance a long time ago. They were so convincing & so was the little one crying. It's obvious he took it seriously, poor kid.
