😅 I've had my P Word sxs for 4 years. It's been perfect. And yes I have seen the Y word machines break down on the trail. They all have there problems.
Maybe no turn signals because it is made as an off-road only vehicle? I mean maybe your area allows road riding, but NHTSB and other Fed regs for on road vehicles would drive cost up, like an air-bag.
True. I'm sure that's the reason... but for the cost of these units $25k. They should have much more! That's new car money. But the buyers don't demand more and pay the price.
Great review from a user's perspective. Really appreciate the good/bad/sarcastic honesty instead of the usual gushing regurgitating sales brochure that everyone else does.
Appreciate it! Crazy how negative and defensive people were to this video. Funny as just sharing my perspective... they are great fun but plenty of room for improvement. Thanks for sharing
Good review and many great valid points. I gave in and bought a wolverine x2 in 2020 (just before the rmax launched). I'm a atv guy but figured the wife and daughter might like it (which they did). It was a shock how what was touted as one of the quietest sxs on the market was so loud. Mainly its the windshield and rear glass. It holds the noise in. If its open air (only roof without windows) it seems quieter. Its still most comfortable for me to wear earplugs when I'm in the sxs. I will say after 2 years of playing around with ours I got to experience riding in a polaris xp1000 and what a piece of junk those where. I was considering buying one to get a more sport oriented sxs but the couple I rode in sounded like they were ready to fall apart at any minute and the drivetrain was extremely clunky. That did make me value the yamaha system more. I may look at upgrading to the Rmax in the future but there wasn't enough changes to warrant the switch yet. While I don't know the mpg figures on our X2 I will say that when we are out riding its the last to need a fillup. I think it just has a pretty good tank size. Another big reason I chose the yamaha was the 2000 lb towing capacity. I wanted to make sure if we needed to pull a dead atv or sxs back that the unit would be rated for it. Many sport orientated ones aren't even rated to tow their own weight with passengers back. The 10 year belt warranty also gave some assurance. Overall I'm on the fence. My wife flipped a atv our last trip and injured herself for a couple of weeks and that wouldn't have happened with the sxs. So I do see the value in a cage, seatbelts, and wider stance. However, I can fit two atv's on my small trailer vs one sxs which means two people can drive and you have a built in buddy system to get you back should something go wrong. I guess it just depends on the occasion which one is an advantage.
Great thoughts and feedback from your experience! We have lots of videos rock crawling the RMAX. And I absolutely agree the durability and reliability so far has been excellent. It is a ton of fun! But I do hope the industry improves... quiet machine with automotive sealed cab (dust free) --- sign me up!!
I have the same ride and I watched the entire video. I believe your initial expectations for SxS's were unrealistic. This is also my first SxS and I did a lot of research before choosing the RMAX2. I love my buggy. You have many valid points, especially concerning the cost of these units and the way they gouge you on accessories after the sale. For the price I agree they should come with more standard features but they are not Tacoma's. I have owned three Toyota pick ups in my time. Regret selling my 2010 Taco still. However I did find it hard to watch the first 14 minutes of trashing the RMAX. What I hope you come to find is that you have purchased one of the most well made and engineered SxS's available today despite its not being up to Toyota standards of comfort or fit and finish. What led me to buy the RMAX was my research as well as my experience with the bulletproof 2002 Grizzly 660 I still own and have never had to make any major repairs on (after 20 yrs of plowing snow and pulling a trail mower and even minor road grading with my snow plow). I only hope I will have a similar experience with my RMAX. And if my Grizzly ever gives up I will need to get a plow for the RMAX.
Appreciate you watching through the video and providing feedback. Certainly much of the comments are true for the entire industry. We will be doing an update video soon with modifications. It's been a fun rig but plenty of improvement room too!
It is frustrating that these things cost so much and don't have even the standard features of even a cheap car! Not sure why? Perhaps economy of scale? But I still love them and will keep buying and driving them.
Agreed. That's my frustration and experience. Totally a blast to drive tho. BUT... Wish the quality was better! Dust and noise are the biggest complaints.
You can't think of an SXS in the same terms as a pickup. The bed is short so that you can maximize your departure angle and not destroy your bed. No turn signals, it's an off road vehicle. Polaris is more expensive and co.es with no roof. Gaps in the door?? It's a SXS! The rmax is perhaps THE best engineered mass produced SXS you can buy. That is coming from a satisfied polaris owner. You should probably think of these machines more akin to ATV's rather than a highway vehicle such as a pickup or jeep.
That's true! And it would be easier to do so... if they were cheaper. I think the quality issues are obvious due to the price. We do enjoy it. Overall, our biggest complaint is the noise. It's rather obnoxious. But we do really enjoy it. And it's very capable and fun. Plus it fits in our trailer. Will be doing an update video soon showing our alterations.
14 minutes of ripping it apart and hating on it While being incredibly cringy. Yikes. However you do make some good points. Almost skipped your video because of how negative you were, but it is good to know the realities when going to buy one
You should put a link to 14:07 in your description that peeps can jump to and urge them to watch that first as well as a link to your previous rock crawling vid and maybe you'll get less negative feedback. Even though it's just the 2 of you, you should have bought the RMAX4, which is a perfect overlanding rig: ruclips.net/p/PLYsQdFz1LSkcp0KRf9IO-MlwhfNnHdniM
That's a good idea... although people rarely watch more than 5 minutes. No attention span... oh well. You've done well with yours. We like the 2 seater and have a design for facilitating camping gear. Just waiting on parts...
Haha... yeah that was our last off road rig. Toyota Tacoma. These are fun but quality needs to improve for the cost. We've been using ours a bunch... check out newer videos
I watched the entire video.. what's the answer? Jk. Just feeding the negative beast lol. Bolt on parts, desert running and modifiable. Sxs's are the worst investment ever but hot dayum they are fun. The ageless debate... old jeep/samurai for 8k with heat/ac, windows and street legal vs sxs. 20k minimum and 10k plus down the road in accessories. These Yamaha's are super sexy machines. I was close to getting one but chose a talon. Love it. At least you have factory full doors, same size all 4 wheels, a tail gate at all and beadlock wheels.. oh and don't forget about that belt driven transmission hehe
@@videosatrandomplease9933 Yep! Bad investment but fun. It won over building a truck... we have $13k in parts so far. But they are easy to modify and less repairs compared to an older 4wd truck. Guess we will keep it around for a while since probably never get the money back! Just fun...
You couldn't be more correct on every point. For the price you pay it should be way better quality. And the noise really gets to you after a short while. And most of the issues you point out could easily be fixed by the manufacturer. I'm going to wait for GMC or Chevy to make one. 😂
Glad you agree! Most buyer must not care... but competition could change that. Really interested to see how the Brawley does. Polaris released the new Ranger EV. Will be curious how the market changes in upcoming years!
We do not drink. After a year of ownership and many difficult trails... my opinion remains the same. Many things are excellent with the machine but many areas that need improvement.
You have lots of things you don't like about the RMAX, so why did you buy it? I have 2021 RMAX4 1000 LE and I love it. Maybe this isn't the hobby for you.
You are a guy that really wanted to cool but your not . Your the wrong person for this activity . Buy a ranger lift it.its your truck that's smaller with ac and heat
I think you should pick up basket weaving as your new hobby! If you want to sell the RMAX hit me up. 😂
Just wait till you see what we do with the RMAX. Big upgrades in process!
And it’s 1000 times more reliable than (P word competition)
So I've heard!!! We've been doing plenty of testing rock crawling... check out the videos. It's been holding up!

Glad you guys are liking the RMAX! Looking forward to more videos of the action! You should do before and after clips of the upgrades you do too!
That's a great idea! It will be fun to run the same trail and see the difference...
I couldn’t make it past the first five minutes. I’m surprised you didn’t complain that it doesn’t have a tampon compartment.
Watch the entire video and see why. We spend hours making content and get criticism from people unwilling to watch it fully.

Why did you bother, just go get a car, suv, maybe a truck. The rmax dosen't deserve you. Maybe the 3rd owner will like it better.
