      If the general is anything like their quads in the way of durability and dependability, there is no question in my mind. For what these cost, it's a shame what Polaris and Can Am are putting out. This is the ONLY brand I'd put any money and trust into. I'm not a brand name loyal fan of anything, it's just based on my personal experience and values.

    • @millersmotorsports
      @millersmotorsports  3 года назад +1

      We found only a few minor things to dislike about the RMAX. The door (while improved over the previous version) could still use some refining, specifically when it comes to the bolster being a hinderance for comfort. Beyond the door, the lack of storage options in comparison to the Polaris General hold back some of the versatility.

    So sorry I bought a Polaris. I have 4 Yamaha quads. 2015 Grizzly 700 with 14,000 miles on it that is stock everything except the oil and tires. Still runs and drives perfect. I should have known better. The Polaris are such trash, especially everything drive train related. My Polaris needed needed trans work at 1900 miles and 6 days out of warranty. Polaris did nothing to help. Machine has never been wet never been driven hard probably used four-wheel-drive three times. Never been in water even up to the floorboards. Very obviously a really well-kept machine and Polaris is just an awful company that builds crap and doesn’t care. 2019 ranger xp 1000 crew. Trash. Never buy one. Hopefully I can find some sucker to give me enough money for it that I can buy a Yamaha.

      I agree, Yamaha makes a superior product. My 2005 grizzly 660 has held up great. I’ve only replaced some stock parts because I wanted to. Sure it has 3,600 miles on it and 850 hours, but my uncle has an 02 660 with 7,000 miles and it’s been rode much harder than my 05, so mine definitely had a lotta life left in it.

    • @rleon8339
      @rleon8339 3 года назад

      I bought a RZR XP Turbo on Oct 6, recalled and "do not ride" order issued the very next day! Now it sits waiting for a new clutch and parts are 4-6 weeks out. I was drooling over the Yamaha but a $22k price tag and every dealer in DFW marked up another 1-2 grand.

    • @Van1018s
      @Van1018s 3 года назад +1

      @@rleon8339 I live in North Florida. all over the Polaris and Yamaha dealers are out of everything. And before they ran out they were marking all side by sides at 4000 above retail. And still sold out of everything. I really like the cargo box of my Polaris XP 1000. It is very useful around my house, but as far as the machine I want I want the new Yamaha RMAX4 1000. It just doesn’t have the cargo space that I would like but I feel the rest of the machine is so much better quality that is what I’m going to end up with. It’s not that the Polaris is overall built that bad their transmissions are just awful. You cannot takeoff smooth they will not drive slow at low RPMs. It’s just very annoying when you have to rev the engine to 2000 rpms Then you hear the clutch engage and slap in the place and then off to a jerky start you go. Virtually impossible to operate this thing on any steep services, or even just some thing as simple as trying to back up to a trailer. You get close to the trailer then to move an inch you have to hit 2000 RPMs it clunks into gear and you run into the trailer. The suspension is a little squeaky I don’t feel the gearshifter moves smoothly as it should, I do think the engine is built well but overall compared to Yamaha machines I have owned it is not a quality built machine. It’s actually kind of funny today that I am typing this because today I had something break on a Yamaha product for the first time ever. I had the boot come off on a rear half shaft on my 2014 grizzly 550 and all the fluid leaked out and now it’s making a clicking noise. The machine has 5500 miles on it. So I ordered two new rear half shaft for $100 that will take me 30 minutes to change. In 26 years of owning I would guess 13 Yamaha products this was the first maintenance I have ever done other than your basic oil filter oil change and air filter. I have three Polaris is and I rarely go on month without having to fix something that is broke on one of them.
