  • Reviewing out test of the 2021 Yamaha Wolverine RMAX 1000, While we are typically excited about new machines, we’re blown away with the new Yamaha Wolverine RMAX2 1000. It’s certainly a contender or best in class against the Polaris General XP 1000 in the sport/utility segment but it’s more than that. Although we didn’t get the chance to test it in whooped out terrain, the RMAX 1000 seems good enough to serve the needs of many enthusiasts who’ve been wishing for a 64” wide, CVT equipped sport SXS from a Japanese manufacturer. It’s both quicker and faster than a Teryx 1000, might give the Talon 1000X a good run, and will work better for many drivers than Yamaha’s YXZ1000R on tighter trails. Plus, it will let you haul more gear, work, or tow more than any Sport SXS. Its combination of performance, versatility, and refinement is unique and why we expect the 2021 Yamaha Wolverine RMAX 1000 to become one of the top selling SXSs on the market. That’s saying a lot, but the new Wolverine RMAX2 1000 is really that good.

      Yes please, the sooner the better. I already put money down on the RMAX4 vs General.... so it's kind of a moot point for me but I'd still like to know your thoughts. I've researched both extensively, own a couple of Polaris units, went with the Yamaha. It's just a better machine all the way around......

      @@AaronSteeleRealtor We are waiting on a General from Polaris for testing and comparison. Without a fair evaluation of the Polaris General XP we can't say which one would come out on top when the numbers get added up, but based on how the Wolverine performs in comparison to some of the more trail focused sport models we've tested, we'd feel darn happy about purchasing a RMAX.

    I test drove this same RMAX last month in Moab. I was blown away, I was not expecting this premium of a machine in a SXS.The quality fit and finish is off the charts. I think the rest of the industry is going to be scrambling to try and match it (but cannot). The bar has been raised for sure.

I'm doing the 20 hour break in period right now with 8.5 hours on the machine thus far, no more than 1/2 throttle (I think..Lol) I can you personally, this thing is a beast! I cannot wait to go full throttle and let her fly. I have only driven 41mph max, mostly between 25-35 for break in period. It climbs like a goat. Just got back from a side by side comparison of the RMAX and the General XP, on paper they are similar, but in person I find more pro's to the RMAX than I do the General. Starting with the pros on the RMAX, beefier shock brackets and most frame and steel fittings/welds, fit and finish, dash layout, latching interior compartments, interior lighting, winch, electrical protection throughout, just to name a few. Pros on the General, seat goes back a little farther, lock in ride for accessories, outside door handles, higher doors to eliminate the Yamaha shoulder bolster, inlays for windshield and rear window, lots of options for accessories. I too am looking forward to a ride comparison of the two machines.

    This machine is really starting to grow on me, but do we really need another dump bed utility machine, this has the ingredients to easily be a sport SXS, the travel for an A arm is very impressive, still would rather have a longer wheelbase with a swing arm setup, I love the front end look and stance, but hate the look and do not need the rear dump bed 🤢🤮, all said and done Im sure this will be bulletproof and hope the YXZ gets this design language very soon

    • @UTVonDemand
      @UTVonDemand  3 года назад +3

      Fortunately, the dump bed doesn't do much of anything to hamper performance other than add a little bit of weight. We kind of like having it because it helps reduce the need to turn right around and buy a cargo box although they are available if you want one. We have seen videos of other media testing them out west with a spare tire laying flat strapped down in the bed. No tire carrier needed. We bet that there will be a lot of sport enthusiasts who will go for the added feature of the dump bed. No side-by-side is perfect for everyone but we think this one will certainly be a great choice for a lot of people. Thanks for checking out the review and sharing your feedback we love hearing it.

    • @UTVonDemand
      @UTVonDemand  2 года назад +1

      This was a good comment right up to your assumption. While we don't always interview our drivers on camera we sometimes do. You will sometimes see them on camera in other videos and if you are familiar with our content then you might know who is driving that machine. Also, we always drill our drivers for information off camera. Mentioning who the river is lets you know it wasn't the cameraman, commentator, or representative from Yamaha doing the driving. Truth be told, we receive no direct financial support for these reviews or on any type of ongoing basis from any of the OEMs Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, etc.

      @@LikelyCandidate After looking at our unit and reaching out to Yamaha directly here's what we are told. Yes, we still see a do not sit symbol on the RMAX bed. Yamaha tells us that is because they don't want hundreds of pounds sitting in one small area of the gate. with most of your deer being held in the bed, or slid across the gate, they seem confident that you won't have a problem hauling a deer out in the unit. This is coming from their PR department directly. If you have any follow ups you would like us to check on, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks.

They will not and read this clearly they will not fix anything. I don't care if your god. Nothing. And I quote from head yamaha " its so easy just to fix it your self" parked at 22hrs. If you still want one have fun with your bent frame. My x2 came bent from factory but I have seen lots bend on the trail. They added more metal on the 2021 but dose not fix the issue of them being dirty and not talking care of loyal customers. I had way more issues then that just saying. Parked at 22hrs with no help from a million dollar company :(
