WoW! Wish I'd seen your video before pricing my cake out! I'm VERY under priced! But, I'll chalk it up to gaining experience, confidence and exposure. oof....can't say it doesn't hurt. And I'm the type of person that will always add more to the design to make it go from good to great. I've gotta stop that!! Thanks for doing your videos, SOOO helpful 😊
EDIT: I made the video!! ruclips.net/video/XAdFxYKqqS8/видео.html I realized after I posted this that I say to go and check out my beginner’s guide to quoting prices for cakes...then I realized I haven’t made that video yet!! 🤪 (though I do have one for cookies if you’re interested). I’m getting on creating that video right now! Cheers, sweetie fam!
Gosh those are some high prices! I’m in the UK and would charge around £100 for a cake like that although I’ve not been in the cake business for some time. Love seeing what other people charge! ☺️
Thank you i bake too but im only a beginner and I’ve never worked with fondant before if you could take a look ate my instagram and tell me if there is any potential scince i really love baking Instagram: stefans_bakery
Hey Ashleigh! After you steam your fondant, do you put the cake in the fridge? I wanted to have the same shine your fondant cakes have, so i steamed my fondant and kept the cake at room temp. An hour later when I checked, the icing underneath the fondant has melted slightly and resulted in the fondant bulging and sliding 😞 What did I do wrong?
Hi there! It sounds like you might've over steamed it a bit. You just want to steam enough so all of the corn starch is gone, but not so much that the frosting starts to melt. The shine on my cakes don't last--it eventually dissipates. If you want to have a continual shine on your cakes I recommend a mix of vodka and corn syrup. Hope that helps!
This "quote" thing is new to me. I didn't know that was done. I'm almost sure it is not done here in the Caribbean. Why do you ask them to quote it, knowing that they know you did it?
It’s not so much about the artistry, it’s more about if a customer were to ask them for a similar cake, what would they charge. We all have different ranges for different things so it’s interesting to see how other people charge for the same cake!
Back in the day when I first started I promoted solely through Facebook at first. Word of mouth is also super powerful. Now if I were selling cakes I would use every social media platform available to me!
$425 is about right the rest especially the $225 is reaaaaly low 🤦♀️ I know you say pricing is personal lol 😆 but I think as a business owner if you don’t charge right you get burned out and you give up. So pricing is very important factor of the business 😉

"The cake community." Now I want a TV show about articulate, good looking Canadians that bake and solve crimes.
😂😂😂😂🥰💕

Thanks so much for your input!! 💕🍰🥰
Very expensive
Keep in mind the pound is worth more than the Canadian dollar.
@@irenedavo3768 and very worth it
You mentioned Jujhar!! He is absolutely incredible.. I thought this was going to be a video from the states but I’m so happy it’s not!
I can’t even really find words to describe his amazing talent!! Canadians represent!! 🇨🇦
How did you make the fondant soo shiny
It’s steamed! If you want it to stay permanently shiny though I suggest vodka mixed with corn syrup

How do you promote your business. Like how do people know you and reach out to you

@@SweetDreamsBakeShoppe thanks
That'd be about 1200 South African Rands. I'd probably charge about R900. Think your pricing is spot on❣
Love this!! I have been under pricing mine!!!
So glad you enjoyed it!!
I would charge $225 CAD for a similar cake
