I thought the audio was good, as were the transitions! And great tips! You were a bit close to the camera though; i'd suggest some distance so we can see your full face next time! 😜
I started to do a baking business when I was off from work during covid, I enjoy baking I made money but people would compare prices and basically took advantage. I really want to learn how to decorate cakes and pastries I want to get back into it, I'm happy I found your video
Hi there! I've started baking like 4 years ago, but just as a hobby and accepting some orders just for fun. But last year I decided to be a little bit more serious with this home based bakery. Thank you for all the tips and tricks you're sharing, its so very helpful for beginners like me. Sending love from Illinois, 🇺🇸
As a man who is starting his own home bakery I appreciate the tips and love your outlook on people idea stealing I have a little ok alot of worry about this because I have 19 cookies that no one has ever seen and really did not want the formula to get out but after hearing your view on this it has changed my whole perspective even during school my chefs always said beware of competition it's a business killer ( maybe you should teach) and I'm like then how do you open a bakery if your making the same things I get it now only took me 2 years well look at that you can teach an old dog new tricks anyways I hope to learn alot from you I have watched alot of videos as of late and must say I like your the best it's your all around personal and business attitude thank you again.
I totally agree with the bakery taking over the kitchen. I almost always order out when I have an order. If not, I plan ahead to make sure my fridge is free of excess food/leftovers. I think my husband secretly likes when I have orders bcuz it gives him the opportunity to have take out. Lol
I know that feeling all too well, just tell them that your cakes aren't frozen and your icings aren't from buckets. 🤷 Costco, ShopRite, BJ's, all those types of stores. Stores they all come pre-made nothing's really homemade anymore in supermarkets.
So my mother was 9 months pregnant with me and had seven loaves of bread rising when her water broke! She baked all seven loaves of bread, then went to the hospital. I thought that would make you laugh after your story!
Aloha Ashleigh! Thank you for sharing these tip and going into details. I love baking and recently have started thinking I can sell my products. Blessings to you and yours!
I am an amateur baker and this is such an awesome and informative video! I was taking notes the whole time! This is going to help me and ease some of my anxiety. Thanks! You are so good at what you do!
Thank you, thank you ,thank you!!! You have been great the most informative down to earth home baker friendly video I've watched. Your content is so "skeptic" friendly. 😂Meaning it's hard to DREAM and fulfill that passion. So we look to others who are willing to help but sometimes sell fluff that discourage us. Thank you for your overall openness and concern for helping us live out our dreams.
Such a great video!!! I have a home bakery in Chilliwack and this is all SUCH great advice! Some things I've learned the hard way and some things you covered were new to me. Love that I learned new things!
I am considering a home bakery. My family and friends have been trying to get me to go for it. But I keep wanting to learn more before I do. I love buttercream, and have found my special talent. But I know at some point someone will ask for something I have yet to master. Fondant and sugar glass, both need work. I have never tried sugar sheet work. And would love to try some chocolate and Rice paper art work as well. Surely Buttercream Frosting isn't where it ends for me.
Hey! Could somebody tell me how i'm supposed to take orders? what website or social media platform shoud i use for selling my cakes? Any answers would be deeply appreciated 😁😁💝💝
I'm thinking about doing a home bakery to start selling at markets, my question is how do you know how much to bring? I dont want to make too much, or not enough.
@@SweetDreamsBakeShoppe That would make things extraordinarily difficult for most home bakers in the US - but I imagine you’re stringent because people took liberty.
Another time/reason to not have an "at home bakery" is if you have pets especially cats that are all over your tables/counters/furniture. That's just trifling, nasty and not sanitary...
Hiya! Thank you so so so much for this video it was a real help! So basically what my main objective is for starting my business is for donation purposes with 10% of sales going to charities that I am keen on supporting. My only worry is when should I adapt this into my business as I am unsure about sales margins cause there is no way to tell how many sales I will get in the first running, should I wait a few months until my revenue goes up so that it doesn’t limit my finance? Ah sorry for this! If anyone has any ideas please do let me know
They will only buy if they can resell at a reasonable price. If it doesn't sell, they take the loss on items not sold. That's why wholesale is less money, you sell more for less, but if you have 150 pieces twice a week at $2.00 a piece. That's $600 coming in every week, thats a nice way to start.
I try to batch record any baking/decorating type videos on the weekends. During the week if I have to film, I like to do more talking videos since they don't require me to create a product! I have a video that goes a little bit more specifically into how I run a baking channel :).
Having pricing issues its kind of my fault but its been a year and i felt like ok its a pandemic i have to travel with my child to shop for everything i use and i have to cover gas its a major expense so now im having a dry spell but hopefully soon i get a new flow of customers because my regulars aren't going through with their orders because of the price change but jm totally ok with waiting for other people to contact me
What are the rules of home baking business in Vancouver, Canada? I could not find information that if we have cottage laws. And if buttercream is low risk or high risk. Can we sell items with whipping cream?
There’s nothing scary about the home baking business! Unlike a storefront you don’t have to pay rent or employees so the loss is very minimal if things don’t work out. Start small and work your way up 🥰

Destyni Skywalker thanks for the feedback!!
Destyni Skywalker I just used the font from the RUclips thumbnail maker! First time using it, but felt this video’s style required it hehe 😉
It's good! I only couldn't see the fonts

Hahaha right??? So much takeout!! I remember times just stuffing a burger in my face quickly and powering through. 😅
I have the same problem of pricing, people keep comparing my cake prices to costco cakes!! It’s hilarious.
Happens to all of us for sure!! Happy baking, Tami!

If it doesn’t need refrigeration it fits into “cottage law” in a lot of places. That’s a lot different than needing a license.
I know in the US cottage law exists, but there are no cottage food laws in Canada and there are different stipulations for each province.
@@SweetDreamsBakeShoppe That would make things extraordinarily difficult for most home bakers in the US - but I imagine you’re stringent because people took liberty.
Totally! Happy baking, Kate 🥰

Home Cottage laws are under the local health department if you have a cat or dog free in the kitchen, they will shut you down.

What if another business is interested in purchasing to resale at their shop? Should I price it at full price or should it be discounted?

Amazing video :)
What liscensing do you need to bake from home ?
Do you ask for a % before hand or do you wait to get pay when you deliver the product?
Yes! 50 percent to hold the order and it must be paid in full prior to pickup or delivery 🙂

Hi
Just wanted to know how can I promote my cookie business
I really enjoyed your video, friend, you have a new supporter 👍 hope to stay connected. Thanks
Don't you need to use a commercial bakery? Or at least procure a permit/license from the health department?
Most states have Cottage laws.
Thank you I want to do my own business but I'm scared .
