Absolutely beautiful. I have been a Catholic for six years, and it has been transformative. The best thing that has ever happened to me. May God help me die a Catholic and have a Requiem Mass done for the repose of my soul.
I was raised essentially pagan in the 1980s/90s. I was lost in drugs and łust. Then through a Catholic priest I discovered sacred Scripture and its inseparable pair sacred Tradition. I became very devout and joined the FSSP.. Please pray for me.
Orthodox music is consistently gorgeous, and famous for being so. Tchaikovsky's "Hymn of the Cherubim" comes to mind. The love is reciprocated from this Roman Catholic. Our churches are the two lungs of the same faith.
In Buenos Aires I had the honour of visiting Orthodox church. Hope to see soon a Catholic total unión. We are the same people, we have the same foes.... We should stand united God bless our orthodox broders and sisters..
The Miserere is my favorite piece of Catholic music! I was introduced to this piece during Tenebrae at my parish and it never disappoints. Always calls me back to repentance, holiness, and conversion. A blessed Holy Week to all who may read this. May God bless you in these last days of Lent.
Peace to all. This is a wonderful explanation of, in my opinion, the most powerful Psalm. The Miserere is such a powerful piece. As an Orthodox Christian, we pray Psalm 50 daily in our morning prayers. The Latin version brings the power of David's repentance forward for all to share. To my Catholic brothers, I wish you a wonderful Holy Week. Pray for us sinners of both traditions so we may pray together. Forgive me, a sinner, as God forgives. Peace to all.
Our Orthodox Brethren are very much part of the Catholic Church despite the painful schism! They professed and practise the same Apostolic Faith albeit in a different form and unique way of expression that adds to the Universality of the Church, a beautiful mosaic of unity in diversity. We in the Church of Rome pray that we may soon realize the prayer of Christ in the garden that we all may be one, sharing the same Eucharist on one Altar, Praised be Jesus Christ! Praise to Him forever!
Absolutely beautiful. This is one of my favorite pieces of all time. I feel surrounded by 👼angels. Thank you Father Edmund and all the priests and seminarians.
It drew me too, and then and forever the Church continues to reject me. I just want Catholic help, I have no family or friends who are Catholic to go back with, I need confession but with the right priest. I don't trust any of them. They're harsh, vile, even reckless.
@@Awakeningspirit20The Church does not reject you, Jesus is the Head of the Church and in His wisdom He chose men to be fishers of men and to preach His Holy Word. This piece was made famous by the fact that it was only sung by the Sistine Chapel Schola for the first hundred or so years after it was written. It ended up leaking out when a 14 year old boy named Wolfgang was present in the Sistine Chapel, probably for Tenebrae, and afterward transcribed it from memory. I believe that the Pope was quite amused by this. Anyway, it adds to the piece’s mystique. It is so beautiful, as is all of the pre-1955 Holy Week Office.

However, in the years prior, St. Michael’s was one of the greatest spiritual gifts of my life. I am forever grateful to God for you and pray He will bless all of you in your most holy vocations.
In the 1950’s I don’t recall ever hearing music like this. But I do recall when we went to confession on Saturday afternoon, with sun streaming in the western windows, I could enjoy the scent of candle wax and incense. These holy odors were more pronounced when the church was not as full. Still remember that as a sacred odor. As always, except for Good Friday., the candle in its red globe was lit. I still look for that candle first whenever I enter any Catholic Church.
@@chrislambert9435 How great. Even in Catholic grade school, Psalm 23 is the one I remember. Course for me, that sure doesn’t mean it was the only one we learned. On Good Friday 1977, in the chapel of King's College Cambridge, England, this transcendental music, especially the top treble notes, soared around the glorious ceiling vaults and into the souls of us there. A truly unique blessing.
This is one of my most favorite songs. I coukd listen to it over and over. The Sixteen in the UK sound like the angels in heaven when they sing it. Thanks for this mornings psalm.

"Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy great mercy. And according to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my iniquity [Psalms 50:3] 4 Wash me yet more from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 5 For I acknowledge my iniquity, and my sin is always before me. 6 Against thee only have I sinned, and done evil in thy sight that thou mayst be justified in thy words and mayst overcome when thou art judged. 7 For behold I was conceived in iniquities; and in sins did my mother conceive me. 8 For behold thou hast loved truth: the uncertain and hidden things of thy wisdom thou hast made manifest to me. 9 Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be cleansed: thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow. 10 To my hearing thou shalt give joy and gladness: and the bones that have been humbled shall rejoice. 11 Turn away thy face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. 12 Create a clean heart in me, O God: and renew a right spirit within my bosom. 13 Cast me not away from thy face; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 14 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and strengthen me with a perfect spirit. 15 I will teach the unjust thy ways: and the wicked shall be converted to thee. 16 Deliver me from blood guiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall extol thy justice. 17 Thou wilt open my lips O Lord and my mouth shall declare thy praise. 18 For if thou hadst desired sacrifice, I would indeed have given it: with burnt offerings thou wilt not be delighted. 19 The sacrifice to God is an afflicted spirit: a contrite and humbled heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. 20 Deal favourably, O Lord, in thy good will with Sion; that the walls of Jerusalem may be built up. 21 Then shalt thou accept the sacrifice of justice, oblations and whole burnt offerings: then shall they lay calves upon thy altar." Psalm 50 ..... Yet never again, for the only sacrifice ever more worthy and pleasing to Thee is the Perfect Sacrifice of Thy Divine Son, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and His Perfect Sacrifice on His Cross. ✝✝✝
