Beautiful video. As an Indian all I would want to say that we drink a stronger version of this tea. You can see it from the dark golden colour of the tea which Indians generally drink.
Interesting variations on the Masala chai, Ryoya san. I’ve never had vanilla in my masala chai. Will try. The usual thing is to have saffron, but if that’s too boring then I might have instinctively tried chamomile instead of vanilla. Two other surprises were the use of allspice and star anise. Personally, I’d not have used star anise as cinnamon is already in use. The one thing I’d have definitely changed is replace long leaf black tea with fresh CTC from Assam or Nilgiri. It has more body and would go well with spices. Long-leaf gets overwhelmed by the spices. Cheers!

If you buy your spices at ethnic stores they are a LOT more affordable. They come in large bags, sometimes at less than the cost of a small jar of the same spice from a supermarket.
