    Hi mate, thanks for the video. How much did you pay for the HPFP? I looking to buy one but bmw charge me crazy price. How is it holder up after 6 months use?

  • @Trump-The-GREATEST
    @Trump-The-GREATEST 4 года назад +5

    You must replace the Low Fuel Pressure and High Fuel Pressure sensors (roughly $30 & $45 for both OE/OEM same quality) when you replace any fuel pressure pump!

    Actually the low pressure fuel pump causes the long crank when starting. Not the HPFP.

    • @rickross6368
      @rickross6368 3 года назад +5

      Depends, really. For example, I sometimes have a long crank if the car’s been sitting in the garage overnight or longer, never happens during the day. The logic here is that the pressure drops over longer period of time(which can be due to failing injectors or hpfp)

      Hey man!
      Have you scanned for error codes?
      The car does run smoothly now but it may not be your issue. Does your car crank heaps and take longer to turn on?

    • @mohammedqayyum1140

      Mitch Nucifora I’m getting the 2bdb shadow code high pressure low and I ocaisionally get a really long crank no other codes I also pulled my plugs and they look like they were run lean

    • @MitchNucifora

      Sounds like your HPFP is dying. I would try use the car a little longer until it long cranks every cold start so you can somewhat confirm it. The pumps aren’t cheap!

      @@trentonward4236 Plugs should last about 5 yrs. If ur getting multiple misfires, mostly it will be the spark plugs. I have updated my coils to the Eldor OEM brand as BMW now puts those in their high end cars like their Rolls Royce and are better made coils than the Delphi versions.

    Im not sure if its my injector that's failing or my hpfp, Im getting codes 29CD - Combustion misfires, cylinder 1, 2AAF Fuel pump, plausibility and 2E18 - Firing Cylinder 1. its on limp mode now. Can i switch the injector 1 and 2 to see if im getting cylinder 2 misfire to determine if in fact it is the injector thats the issue? and can i do that without replacing the rings and decompressor rings simply to diagnose? or can i casue damage this way?
    My original issue was after hard acceleration especially on the highway the car was choking / shaking. I have replaced the coils and spark plugs , which seemed to fix the issue for a month. few days ago i accelerated hard again and it went into limp mode and i am getting the codes above.
    Beforfe the limp mode I also got a code 29D9 Misfire at low tank fill level. prior and in addition the the codes above.
    Any suggestions? if it was the HPFP failing wouldnt I have issues with more than 1 cylinder?

    • @MitchNucifora
      @MitchNucifora  4 года назад

      Generally if it’s an O2 sensor or the HPFP, you’ll get misfires across more than one cylinder. It does sound like your injector on cylinder 1 may be faulty however I’m not too sure about just switching them over to test. Did you change the tuning on the car a few months prior to this happening? Sometimes plugs can shit themselves within months. I had that happen to me

    Hi, did this fix your issue? I’m getting p142E code on my 135i. Long cranks and reduced power.

    • @MitchNucifora
      @MitchNucifora  4 года назад

      It fixed mine. A faulty HPFP can also put the car into limp mode.

      Mitch Nucifora nice. Is that the same code you where getting?

    • @MitchNucifora

      I got codes 36BE, 321F, 387F, 29D2, 29D0, 2C84, 2C58, 2C72 from the JB4. MHD gave me a different shadow code though. I will have to check, but the single code I got said that there was low pressure in the high pressure fuel system.

    Can a cheap chinese hpfp make the car smell of petrol? Seems to run fine, no check engine, no codes. All new sparkplugs, changed 2 bad coils, changed 4 injectors for some used ones. Upon checking the idle all cylinders seem to have a nice idle, however the petrol smell is a mystery, theres no leaks, but smells like unburnt petrol

    My car misfired badly so changed spark plugs/coils and it helped. But when I pull hard engine malfunction comes up until I turn off car and back on it goes away. Only comes up if I pull hard than has reduced power. I don’t know the codes but will this most likely be the hpfp or can it be something else you know of?

    • @MitchNucifora

      Sounds like it could be the HPFP but I would wait until the car gives you a code!

    Would a failing hpfp cause blue smoke to come out the exhaust and smoke to come out from the oil fill cap on the valve cover?
