    Great video. I also have to add that Kies Motorsports did a series of videos on n55 turbo replacement, they also don’t remove the subframe. What’s more, you don’t need to remove the subframe to do the turbos on the n54 like many people do

    Sal, yo, holy crap. Great work. There's a reason you only have upvotes on this video. AND you did this outside??? This was phenomenal and I'm so happy I have access to view this for free.
    I have a 2011 335i xDrive e90 that's an N55, so everything to do with the front is gonna be tighter and there's always less DIY's as AWD's tend to get less loving mod videos. But hey, it's just bolts, right?
    I already have a catless VRSF downpipe, but when my turbo goes I'll be getting a PS2 most likely, while replacing the waterpump and thermostat and new coolant lines don there to take care of plumbing, new O2 sensors just cause, new exhaust gaskets and hardware and a newer v-band, (new engine mounts?) and getting the metal inlet and outlets like you showed with the diverter valve from GFB DV+. Anything else you'd recommend changing while in the area?

    • @Sals_Garage
      @Sals_Garage  3 года назад +2

      I appreciate the comment! Thank you. I recommend everything you mentioned, along with the new engine mounts. Also consider the Turbosmart BOV over the GFB DV+ if you like turbo noises. It is less likely to leak.
      It is very possible to DIY with the xdrive model, but it will just be a tighter space to work. The fact that you're removing so much parts will make it a lot easier. Good luck!

      @@Sals_Garage I didn't mean to list everything and someone just agree to all of it and then provide one alternative. Lol. That's so awesome and makes me feel like I actually know what I'm doing and know what parts to replace (even tho I do know and do all my own work. Validation feels nice sometimes). I will look into the Turbosmart BOV instead. Much appreciated.

      @@Sals_Garage Sal, my friend, I had this video saved and my waterpump is going out first. My car has been randomly shutting off in my driveway only after my waterpump has been making noise, but I have a kid now! Little 4 month old baby girl and I'm moving states in the next few months so I can't tackle that entire job that I wanted to for time restraints at night as I can't work all day and hide in the garage all night with new priorities! My car is in the garage and being worked on this weekend so I'll just be tackling the waterpump and thermostat and any coolant hoses nearby as I bought all brand new ones already and most likely the engine mounts right now.
      The only thing I was thinking was putting one of the engine support bracket brace on top to lift the engine up a few inches or however far it can go up to give me room now that I'm not removing as much. I think that would work wonders!

      @@Sals_Garage Thank you for the reply greatly appreciated. I just purchased for my m235i a new steam GTX3582R, supposed to be good for 800hp, I believe it's the same as the new pure800 turbo coming out soon, the guy at steam said it was a prototype, it's a direct bolt on though, the housing has the electronic wastegate mount and everything. I also got a spool 180 hpfp, all the hot and cold side intercooling pipes and a larger intercooler. After spending to much I'm kinda on hold for the moment waiting save some to get it installed and tuned. If I thought I could do it, it would be on already. It seems it would actually be quicker and so much easier to just pull the engine and with it hanging just a foot above the engine bay swap the turbo. This looks like so many shortcuts that just end up making it really way more painful. Removing the radiator and core support takes like an hour. and then everything is trivial to reach.

      Sold it a while back for 2 grand. Parted out all the mods and sold the car a month ago. Good luck in your search.

    Thanks Sal do you recommend it? I have n55 e90 is the stage 2 just plug in or needs new tune?

    • @Sals_Garage
      @Sals_Garage  3 года назад

      Hey! I do recommend it. It is a good 150 WHP more than stage 2+ MHD tune. You will need a custom tune to accommodate the new turbo. It will drive ok for light driving, but when you floor it, it will overboost and can damage the engine if on stock turbo tune. Let me know if you need any other info!

    That heat shield is the stupidest bmw design I’ve seen, 2 of them stripped out on me. Tiny Torx bits where you can’t even reach
