When you are doing these projects, you build parts and build parts, and can't see any progress, then once you get a bunch of parts built, you put them all together and are amazed how much you got done.
Ain't nothin an old country boy can't do once he puts his mind to it. Some with little or no formal training. Give em a tool and they will figure it out. Paul fits this description. Love seeing this build progress.
People may talk trash about you cutting up a classic Toyota but once it's done there won't be a single one that didn't wish it was theirs.
I wish I had a shop and tools like yours so I could build my own projects, : ) Building is a huge part of the enjoyment.
Love this channel! So glad he’s friends with Matt’s Off-road Recovery or I’d never of found this channel.
I got notifications for both channels this morning and I watched the one first.
We love both Matt’s offroad recovery and FabRats, Michelle is by far the best filmer and commentator, Randy is the one cackling in behind camera and is Very annoying , I’m sure he’s a nice dude. FabRats get a gold star for video !!!
I'm not stupid "bigmouth" enough, to give you my perspective about your job.
As a Commercial Engineer, you amaze me with your ideas and solutions to every problem you face along the way of your dream.
I could call you " the man of steel"!!!
You are such the character when your working. hand the guy a price for having a personality. great videos. :-)
Loved that "whatever dad" look from the candy shopper hehe.
It was SO satisfying to watch the whole radiator mounting fall into place so perfectly.
I’ve looked forward to this video all week! Matt will be jealous of your radiator solution!
Paul, just make sure the A/C works and the gas filler/sending unit all works reliably. You can give Matt some grief just to mess with him a little bit. If friends don't mess with each other, they're probably mad about something. That MORRVair is quite a project. This Yoda will make a good match when you guys get out in the boonies with your friends.
It's always relaxing to watch you work. I admire your skill, determination, and get'er doneness. I know it can seem like a never ending project sometimes but just remember that it is just an elephant that needs to be eaten. (?) And just how do you eat an elephant you may ask? One bite at a time my friend, One bite at a time. Ya'll be good now.
I replaced 36, 48" fluorescent tubes with 27, 48" ballast bypass led tubes (6000K) in my 24x36 garage. Daylight temps, brighter, less watts and longer lifetime for about $150. Had to rewire the fixtures. Awesome results. Never looked back. Oh Yeah. No Hum!! Love your videos. Can't wait for the next one
convert your shop lights to led and you will never hear that humming again best thing I ever did
It's in the works
They sell bulbs that work with the ballast fixtures... eliminating the buzzing by simply swapping bulbs.
Love how you do more than most youtubers do in a single day, and instead of just 1 day showing multiple in 1 video and proceed to say did not do enough the other day 😂. What a machine.
This rig is gonna be SICK!
Suggestion - use a steel yardstick (or thin flat steel stock) as a guide for accurate and smooth curves when you're getting ready to mark the original sheet metal fenders for cutting.
It bends in a consistent curve each time.
We've used this technique for years.
3/4 or 1" wide steel banding works well for that.
This FJ rock crawler is going crazy. The stones get out of the way when they see the FJ coming ;-)
Make a removable heavy wall reservoir between the front shock mounts for your hydro steering. Doubles as a shock brace
You guys are awesome! Thanks for turning the volume down on the saws and torches!
OH NO!! I'm 10 minutes in and really I miss the noise!!! 😱😭😢 I just can't be pleased!!! I'm sorry, Michelle!
I replaced all my Fluor lamps with LED's. No ballast, no hum, about the same price as a replacement ballast, and MUCH better lighting. Advice from a Master Electrician. Really enjoy your vids.
I know you are receiving quite a few suggestions but figured I would add one. Maybe don't weld the box and cab together via the rock sliders. During heavy articulation or high impact, the twisting in the frame may cause buckling and warping of the body panels. Thanks for the wonderful videos! Cheers from Canada!
Getting those plans out of your head and into the real world takes time.
Good job changing imagination to reality 👍👍
My wife and I have been watching yours and Matt’s channels all week, we really enjoy you two’s channels keep up the great content,
Looking good. Love that you decided to keep square angles.
Forget about any haters. Most of us know that the FJ will end up better than original. Personally I’m looking forward to watching the “Fab Rat”style come to life!😎✌🏻
Looking killer! Good call on square and rec tube! Looking forward to seeing this one flexed out somewhere 🤙🏻
Paul, ur a beast when it come to fabricating. This is totally ur vision and every day it's becoming a reality. Your doing an amazing job. Always waiting for the next video. Thanks for ur time and bless u and ur family(dog and cat too)... Stay classy Paul. greetings from San Diego California.
Another great watch from the FabRats Garage!!!
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride, Paul...
Sending Prayers Love and Light 🙏❤🌟
Hi Michelle,
Love the build. Everyone in my circle of friends knows what FJ Friday is!
Lots of good choices are being made here. And I'm glad you are considering adding skid plates to the rock sliders... just no dimple die holes to hang up on. The bottom ought to be smooth as a baby's butt!
I can't wait to see the front fenders being made.
Gotta say, I wasn’t stoked about cutting up a FJ45 (my dream pickup), but this is turning out sweet.
I just wish we had more reproduction chassis around for stuff other than 60's American cars. I definitely think these days there is enough of a market for it. I also cry when I see rare chassis cut up.
There are just so many old cars that are just gonna disappear but we could legitimately be reproducing these things again. I can't wait to see what this looks like when it's done, it really is sweet.
Great vids Paul and Michelle and families!! Thanks eh!! from Canada!
We've all heard of ROADKILL But this is OVERKILL GARAGE. Great job
Paul, something I've found that makes marking steel for fab work easier is a Markal Silver-Streak pencil. Fits in your pocket and marks like soap stone, but is always sharp and doesn't break. I love mine. Awesome job on this build. Thanks for all of the awesome ideas, I'm currently gathering parts and trying to come up with a plan for my build. This thing looks awesome 👍
Do you mean the wooden or the mechanical version? I am using the wooden ones but thinking about upgrading to the mechanical pencils so I don't have to sharpen it. It also sounds like it marks better on less than idea metal surfaces.
@@ToddKing I have the blue mechanical version. The insert is around 3/32" thick but can be sharpened with the cap on the pencil. It marks most metal as long as it isn't greasy
I don't know for being self taught your pretty good at welding. And everything else you do. I have never seen anyone do that like that and it comes out looking perfect.
Some riv-nuts would be a good call for that top radiator mount. No need to worry about fishing out a nut and washer on the backside! It'll work either way!
When it goes in for the last time it will get them
It just dawned on me what Paul's yellow welding/torching jacket is... it's a Wildland Firefighter's shirt! Very nice!
Cheers from a Fire Truck Maintainer! 🚒🔧
He’s a volunteer fireman for his community!!
That's one freaking cool setup for the radiator. Looking good.
It just occurred to me that Paul is the Mr. Rogers of the fab shops. Mr. Rogers puts on a sweater. Mr. Cox puts on a welding jacket. Mr. Rogers interacts with a group of interesting friends in the neighborhood and connecting communities. Mr. Cox interacts with interesting friends, etc.
The Reason that FabRats is cutting it up. Is because He's turning the Picture's that are inside of His Head into a Reality.❤
love this build. Very cool to see how different people tackle fab'n stuff up.
Your a artist in your own right , Great work , enjoying the channel from the UK 👍👍👍
That FJ body looks awesome. The Rock Slider design looks great to. I can’t wait to see the fenders tied in that rig is going to perform very good. Good Job Paul.
You are an amazing fabricator/ Jack of all trades. If I ever win the lottery I will pay you to build me a custom SAS Tacoma. Great videos!
Sittin' here in my FabRats t shirt watchin' my Friday AM favorite show.
The rock sliders look amazing! Starting to see your vision for this build more clearly, it’s going to be a beaut!
It’s coming along nice, that radiator setup is pretty sweet I’m looking forward to the next FJ video.
Thats soo awesome gives me ideas for my 86 4runner that has rotted rocker panels but its so difficult to find rocker panels that will fit the vehicle unless i can custom fabricate which i have the slightest clue to do 😂
I wished I had the time to build something like this. Very one of a kind and functional. Great content as always
You should add "GET AFTER IT" on your merchandise. That would be cool!
Don't worry about what anyone tells you different. You are doing a bad ass job!!!!
Paul, I supposed to be replacing a head gasket on the daily driver but I'm watching you work on the FJ. Life is good.
You have an awesome shop. It's like my dream come true.
The old girl is coming along nicely 👌
I love going to back to remember what the fj45 looked like at the start. especially after seeing how it turned out!
Did not notice your shop light buzzing til you said something, now I can not unhear it! Thanks Paul! Ha
I was trying to think of something cantankerous, but I can't. Inspiring to see the entire family jumping in to help, watch, just hang out.
Great job Paul and family N crew
Love the cruiser build you've gone to town on it can't wait to see it finished an on the tracks ..an Eds old stockman will be another great ride just remind him that it's got more horse power than 30 od years ago .great show .
That looks good! You are definitely a Master Fabricator. Now you need to learn reupholstery and how to paint. I love your show. I do what you do but I have a 6 lift building along with an overhead crane. I am not bragging my man, you get s&*t done. I love the wife , kids, and animals. You are a lucky guy. Looking forward to Howard getting his Suzuki!
I really like how Paul self coaches himself along as he progresses. I think I'll start doing that even though I don't have a camera.
Sir, Very impressed with your Rock Sliders ( FAB WORK ). I have a 97 ZJ that needs Rockers + LOL & I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT WELDING. What type of welder are you using for connecting the Sliders to the Body ? I am going to teach myself how to weld. I LAUGHED MY BUTT OFF AT YOUR DAWG, IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I'VE HEARD SOME ONE CALL A DAWG A " POOCH ". MY DOGS ARE MY LIFE NOW SINCE MY WIFE DIED & IF IT WASN'T FOR ME DAWGS, THEIR UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, " I WOULDN'T BE HERE ". THANK YOU, SIR. Henry from N.E. PA.
I think the rock slider job is a must. I’ve built the same things on every single yota I’ve built. Well I should say almost the same. I always have done round bar
FJ is looking fantastic Paul! Thumbs up! 👍
Coming along Nicely Paul. My stomach gets about half SICK everytime you take that Grinder to that Sweet FJ Body...UGH....I know I know...Building a badass Rock Crawler...LOL....HAHA...Looking Good Paul. Just Picking on You..Great Video as usual. Thanks For sharing...
Hey Paul & young helpers
Good to see the FJ progressing.
This is going to be a great off road vehicle.
Missed seeing the lovely Michelle this video.
Hope she is well.
Beautiful work on what's gonna be a peach of a truck
the one thing in that shop I am most envious of is that fireplace.
she's a beaut Clark!
Impressive amount of work getting done here.
I love your shop!
I have fluorescent lights like that in my shop and I got so tired of replacing bulbs and ballasts. So I bought drop in LED tubes for the fixtures. They run off of 110 volt so you just have to bypass the ballast. It's been 2 years and I've never had to do any maintenance on my shop lights and do not expect to do any soon. And the new LED bulbs draw only 15% the fluorescence energy used.
Hope this helps. 💡🌞
In a work environment with lots of flourescents eg large retail, they are ongoing work starters, ballasts and tubes. The worst I had was a ballast that char started a small fire.... not fun.
Halogens had their own problems, transformers, push in or screwed in fittings burning out...
LEDs are relatively simple, now cheap, great light, cheap to run and generally reliable, no brainer...
Working in a business environment for success 💯.. You take the time to mess up or do something right until you're in a struggle.. Plenty of good minds here with you and support is no worries. Love yall.. It's looking great.
I enjoy your process. It's easy to follow and never boring. I look forward to these build videos! Thanks! 👍👍👍
Looking good sir!
By the way condolences to your family.
That rad is straight BEAST mode love it
A AWESOME JOB. As usual. Back in my Younger days I to used to build things in my shop. I wish I would have had a Lift for the trucks & cars I worked on though.
Brilliantly done. Looking sweet.
Great job as always Paul. Love watching the master at work.
Side rails and radiator look really good!
Can't wait to see the finished product, that things Badass !
You are doing a kickass job on your jeep. Keep up the great work and God Bless you and your family my friend.
Thank you for explaining the radiator placement from last time! I wondered about that and didn't want to be one of the choir about it because I BELIEVE IN YOU, DANGIT.
Thanks for the super satisfying content! It's so refreshing to see a great shop family be excited about finally being able to do what they love for a living.
I love this build man! There is NO better rig than a classic Toyota with a capable, well made drive line like you're doing! GREAT WORK!
Looking good paul. I love to see an artist at work. I learn alot by watching your channel. Thankyou.
Looking good, I've been waiting for it and the nugget.
Paul and the crew.... This is going to be such a sweet ride!!! NUFF SAID😎😎😎😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thats gonna be a sweet looking machine when your done. Very nice.
For to see some of this first hand. Love it. Inspired some of my builds I am going to do. Thanks for the visit and inspiration.
Absolutely frigging awesome ! That's gonna be one bad ass FJ
I came here to see the golden nugget get a resto.
Now it's my go to channel for everything truck mod.
In Australia we are so regulated and modifying anything requires a mod plate. I really want a 57 fleetside 4x4 rhd with diff lockers and 4 link. Can we do that. Cheers from Oz.
Because it's his dream truck !
Glad I started watching your channel , I came from Matt’s channel and you guys are 2 of my favorite you tubers , hope I can road trip to Utah sometime and see you guys
This thing is going to be RAD! I wish I had 1/2 the metal fab skill that Paul has.
Ever used poly bushings on a motor mount ? Matt and I have. we felt every bang, fart, and whistle that engine made. I don't think the radiator will survive the thermal cycling suspended in poly
. But that's JMHO. Looking good !
There is nothing wrong with building on the fly. . . . done it many a time. Works for me! Well done Paul. Get Her Done!
Amazing work Paul! Thank you for the show
Coming along nicely. The radiator mounting was sweet! Enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing!
Love watching you work !
"Give it a Whirl !" 👀👍🏻
"Let's see if I can remember how to weld." Hey, Paul, I know where you can find a good welder to help you out! Not sure how Matt would feel about Lizzy doing your work for you though! 😁🤣
And Lizzy has all new welding gear so she's good to go!
Fabrication from scratch always takes twice as long. Especially when it's in your head and not on paper. Looks good 👍👌.
Looking good rad work turned out sweet, man of many talents. Never noticed the humming from the light til you said lol
Fabrats I've been trying to figure out how to Build the Rock Slider's on my Grand Cherokee ZJ 4x4. Like I've said before your a Major inspiration to me Fabrats.
Just watched MORR and now there's a new Fab Rats?!? Looks like I'm not getting any work done this morning....
Nice!!!! Like that "POUND TO FIT!!!!!" :)
Anybody can leave a vehicle stock and restore it. Takes vision and skill and guts to cut one up and make it what you dream up. Good work.
