Paul, Hunter and Jetski Jimmy clean the Yellow Submarine from 30 years of caked mud from the bottom of Lake Powell! It is a dirty job and they finally are able to see the bottom of the boat! The Fab Rats Leave and Merlin and Jimmy continue to work on restoring the boat to see if they can get the boat to float again!
Check out more of the Fab Rats videos on their channel! / fabrats
Jimmy is one of those once in a lifetime friends
Too damn nice!🤣
Jet Ski Jimmy is a Legend and Certainly a Good Friend indeed
That's right, you find a Jimmy in your neighborhood and become really good friends :)
He is a great guy. He can make about anything run. He was my best friend in high school. Learned to turn wrenches with him. Good to see him even if its just by video.
Jimmy is the kind of friend you want with you when the SHTF.
I know I thought thought they were bringing the boat over to use his driveway next thing this dudes in his socks stuffing his body in hull he put in work so yeah that's the kind of friend you want most guys be like its not my project I'm not getting filthy he's the tools go ahead he's like gimme the tools I'm going in
Need friends like that
Us Jimmy's are usually good people
Jeff Foxworthy talks about the good friends bail you out of jail..."If he's such a good friend, he'd be in jail with you!" 🤣
FYI That nipple ( inverted) on that bottle was how we used to make extra baby bottles for feeding and carrying on trips, there was a plastic round cap that sealed the inverted nipple to seal until use !!!
Here usually "inverted" means 'removed and reversed' and not 'pushed inside-out'. Many of us 'carbide cavers of the '70s and earlier used baby bottles as a cheap dry carriers for calcium carbide for our carbide lights & reversed the nipples as the gasket. This was before Nalgene bottles escaped the labs for their now-ubiquitous outdoor use.
You might have to steal Hunter from Paul to be your camera guy. Jimmy did a heck of a good job cleaning out the boat. Lots of things to learn watching the rebuild. Thanks for sharing.
Jimmy is a friend who would not say no to help another friend
True
Hi guys, old lady here and just an FYI for Paul; the water pressure didn’t invert that baby bottle nipple, that’s how they were stored for future use! Enjoy your channels. 👏👍
There was usually a wafer that went between the threaded ring and the nipple when you inverted the nipple for transporting the bottle. I am an older dad. 😁
I thought the same thing and I am just an older brother
Well there you go. Looks the milk was still good 😉
@@thedirtybomb19 Right? I don't know why he didn't drink it. $100
@@ruffpizza 🤣
Everyone should be blessed with “a Jimmy”. They come along once in a lifetime. Enjoy their company while you can.
I lost mine to cancer.
Awww…so sorry for your loss! ❤❤❤❤
Jimmy, is the hero here! Merlin, you have some good friends. I am impressed by the amount of knowledge you and Paul, Ben, and Jimmy have. I still am stuck on how you guys got the motor to start, I'm in Kansas not near water and the old motors here, even covered are not that good. Thanks for taking us along.
Jimmy is my hero! Took one for the team!👍
I had a 1977 Challenger jet boat I bought new, with 454 and a Jacuzzi jet. The Jacuzzi jet had the access cover outside the transom so that you could remove a rope or debris without having to beach it or take it out of the water. I hope Paul finds the owners and they tell us what happened.
I love this project. I bought my first boat in 1988. It was a rough old Lowe Pontoon, but it had aluminum pontoons. I bought all the furniture and siding for an 88 Lowe from the pontoons up and that was my start. I had $5200 in a boat that was worth $12,000. I sold it after a few years and just kept trading up. I had jet skis too. There is nothing better than sitting on a pontoon that's like sitting in your living room, grilling, having some beers and taking a rip on a jet ski if the urge strikes. I never had runabouts or any fiberglass boat for that matter, but a 28' tritoon with a 250 horse 4 stroke is no slouch, I can vouge for that. This boat is making quite a story, keep up the great work!
I'm with Jimmy, I love Marine Tex! I used some back in the '80's to seal up a leaking power steering pump on a '78 Ford Granada... I didn't even get it that clean beforehand. The malaise era 302 finally blew up, but that pump never did leak again! Now anytime I have to repair something, Marine Tex is the first thing that comes to mind.
Lots of good work done on the yellow submarine today! Jimmy is a good friend to have and came through with Merlin. Merlin really knows his stuff about boat's and it's paying off big-time with this restoration. Moving forward with this project just fine!
Jimmy for the win! He was all-in on getting that boat clean, literally! Some good progress in this episode. I'm interested to hear what the owner's story was surrounding that fateful day.
i hear the story is coming...
Jimmy needs a raise!!!!
Maybe you could get That Boat Guy (RUclipsr) or BoatWorksToday guy to come over from FL to help restore the boat. They both do outstanding work with fiberglass and boat restorations.
I wonder if the rope stalled him out, the wind kicked up and flooded the boat. There is that big crack in the hull as well. I've been in some crazy storms on Lake Mead, and you would swear you were in the middle of the ocean. I can't wait to meet the owners and hear the story!
Klamath Falls Oregon use to have a drag boat regatta once a year when I lived there. (many years ago) One time a guy was showing off while leaving the dock area, he nailed the throttle, the propeller pulled all of the water out from under his boat, then the engine died! The wake climbed into the back of the boat, and it sunk right there. It was amazing how they got it out of the water though. They hooked a line to the bow, (that was still sticking out of the water,) a man climbed onto the bow, and they started to pull it with another boat. The boat started to come out of the water, and in the process a lot of water went over the stern. Then the guy that was on the boat climbed to the stern and took out the drain plug. They then just towed it around until all of the water was out of the boat. They changed the oil, removed all of the spark plugs cranked all of the water out of the cylinders dried out the fuel system, and had it running within 2 hours. I was impressed.
@@Rat-Builder that similar fix happened to my uncle once. my dad was with him and my uncle forgot to put the drain plug in, and water started coming over the transom. my dad told him to floor it, and it pulled all the water out of the back, and they drove right back to the trailer.
There is not to many Jimmy's around anymore. Can't ask for a better friend then that.
Merlin you just gave Me the answer & how to repair the fiberglass on the boat as I got to repair mine, but didn't have a clue on how to go about it. Thank You! Jimmy is a cool dude too!
17:03 that dog popping up outta nowhere was the cutest thing ever
Jimmy to the rescue. He’s the man of the hour. That had to be nasty up under the bow. Guess it’s the stuff good friends are made of.
You guys are definitely tackling one heck of a project!! Can't believe how good the wood in the bow looked after cutting the little access hole. Everything is looking pretty good so far!! Keep up the good work!!!
Merlin’s got stuff and knows how to use it. Some hero’s don’t wear capes. If I could I’d like twice.
Jimmy's one of those friends that just like to help out whenever whatever.
Attaboy Jimmy, two thumbs way UP.
Great series. Really enjoying watching y’all put this jet boat back together.
We should all be lucky to have a friend like Jimmy! What a great guy and so helpful too!
Cut a lot of rope out of Berkley pumps back in the day. Learned to drive a ski boat in a Spectra 18 with an Olds 455 and a Berkley pump. Dad also had us sharpening the impeller with a file. Lots of fun experiences on Powell, Havasu, Mead, and even the Potomac River during my misspent youth!
Why is watching someone else work so satisfying?
Jimmy is a good dude! Cudo's, brother.
Jimmy is absolutely amazing. He knows what it takes to work hard.
Gotta keep Jimmy on the Channel he is pretty awesome addition.
That would be cool!
An old boat repairman told me to use Snowy Bowl toilet bowl cleaner ( get it at Lowes or Home Depot) to clean hard water stains off fiberglass boats. I tried it and it worked for my boat that sits in the lake in a boat house 365 days a year . ( And has been in the water since 2006 except for routine maintenance once in a while) . Merry Christmas
You guys are amazing and I don't give out praise very often to people I have never met personally. Merlin, when you said that you all were going to give the boat back to the owners if Paul was able to find them after all your combined efforts is nothing short of...I can't think of the words. I am patiently waiting on the continued love and passion that you, your family, your friends put into these "projects".
Very well said... this circle of family and friends is like nothing I have ever experienced. Watching Merlin & Jimmy, Paul & Ben, Matt, Rory just always puts me in the greatest mood...
Very interesting and engaging content . Working blokes knowing what they are doing at work ! Can't get any better . Thanks Jonny UK
It looks like Jimmy's getting new socks for Christmas. Jimmy a real friend.
Jimmy what a way to step up and take one for the team.
Great job Jimmy & Merlin, glad to see your channel growing Merlin!
that was awesome merlin... love the yellow submerine project .....this has to be 1 in a million odds that this has turned out like it has ... the lake powell godz were watching over this craft for 30 years.. omg you look at newer vechiles that are 10 or 12 years old and every bolt wants to break... i am truly amazed how everything is coming togather... i was completely blown away how well the motor turned out... this craftmanship does not exist no more ... "grade of material"
Jimmy's a freaking cool dude! He also has 2 of my favorite rides! The blue Ford, and the mustang. And you're badass to Merlin!
Merlin, I have been subscribed to your channel for a while now. This project just might be the catalyst to get things moving on your channel. Good stuff, and get that camera guy. You are going to need him.
He just doubled his subscribers in a week! I'd say you are correct.
back then ( when the boat sunk ) people put the nipple in backward to help prevent drips , also when baught new , baby bottles came with a cap that fit between the upside down nipple and the cap .
Jimmy is a class guy. If you need it, he'll get it done. You two make a great team. Seems like you guys are pretty much the same off screen as on. I've met a few people in Havasu and they strike me the same. Good folk.
Jimmy knows how to earn a place in the crew first try! love to see it! GJ Jimmy
I’ve been enjoying the Yellow Submarine series on both channels and I’m reminded of Ian in Jurassic Park: “You were so preoccupied with whether you could, you didn’t stop to consider whether you should”. I’ll keep watching this entertaining train wreck!
Great job on the boat.
Thank You for sharing your video, and letting us hang out.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas !
just watched the last one getting the engine running and this already pops up - sweet!
Hey Merlin /// Jetski Jimmie & ALL family & Friends !! ""MERRY CHRISTMAS !!! 🌲🎄🎋🌴 Thanks for the updates on the ""SUB."" !!! 🙃😉🙄👍👍👍👍👍
The world need more good buddy's like Jimmy 👍
He is not afraid of hard work that's for sure, Kudos to him and all involved.👏
I’ve said it before - no better friend than Jimmy! 💪👍🏼
wow Jimmy is the man he got right in there to get it done lol
"YOU'RE DOING GOOD, JIMMY!!!"
Pffffffffffhahahahaha, Hunter was just glad that he didn't have to go back in there... 😂😂😁😁🤘🤘
This is cool. I'm not a boat guy but it's always awesome to take something from the past and give it new life.
Hat off to Jimmy for stepping up and cleaning and sacrificing himself for the cause.
You guys are amazing. Though you may feel defeated at times the yellow submarine is thanking you for her revival. Merry Christmas to you all
I love watching this boat come back together, can’t wait to hear how it ended up at the bottom of lake Powell. Great work guys.
Paul, that nipple was turned backwards on purpose, it's not just inverted from pressure. I remember doing that when the kids were little, about 20 years ago. I think it helped keep them from leaking when the nipple got pinched, or when the bottle was shaken up.
My hat is off to you guys...fixed up alot of those old jet boats back in the day, but never anything that spent more than a day underwater! Including an old Sleekcraft tunnel hull that [according to Sleekcraft exec] was a prototype boat and should never have left the factory!..How it got here to Illinios, nobody knows! Great job guys!
We had a Southwind tunnel that a guy sunk because of liquid stupidity.
Dive team never found it. 😦😦😡😡😡😡😡🤬
I already enjoy your channel but you and Jimmy together along with a camera guy could take it to a whole other level. Keep it coming!!! Merry Christmas to both of you and your families.
That's going to be beautiful when it's finished. Good work Jimmy, better you than me, lol.
Sounds like you're really moving on this project, next week in the water? Wow!! Still hard to believe what shape she's in. Sure would have thought that core would have been soaked!! Might as well glue in an access for that hole, & really love that West Systems, not just because its a Michigan company, but it works well... Merry Christmas!, & Thanx !
Thank you Jimmy. I still think you are crazy to rescue this boat.
This is great how you work together with family. It's fun to see how you guys interact and help each other out. Keep it up!
Jimmy's a rock star. That dude was pressure-washing a 30-year-old boat in his socks and a pair of jeans with nary a complaint.
OMG Jimmy is a ROCK STAR! What a friend!
Thank you Jimmy for getting in that mess! Always love watching Merlin all the fun you have! LOL! MERRY CHRISTMAS Y'ALL!
Glad to hear you plan on giving it back to the owners. I bet they’ll be excited to see it!
I actually hope they keep it....I want the owner to see it and I know it's the right thing to do but if the owner really wanted it he would have got it when it went down
@@bmooch1 it sank in around 100 feet deep water. Would have been expensive to recover.
I would like to hear about the day it sank, that would be a good story
@george9417 plus it was probably a younger family with kids and other shit going on..."So" is a douchebag Troll answer.
@@ghoward6797 it’s coming. Stay tuned! 😊😊😊😊
Jimmy is The BOMB...Wow...Now theres a Man that Takes every job over the TOP...Great Job Jimmy. Merlin having a Friend like that is very Rare...Great job on the boat so far. Cant wait to see it Gliding across the water...Great Video...
What a mess. 30 years of mud. You guys are great and you're even giving the boat back to the owners! Can;t wait to hear their story!
Great job Merlin and Jimmy. What a mess to clean up. Jimmy is one of those friends who does not shy away from showing up and getting his hands, and clothes, filthy dirty. Looking forward to more on this project.
Merry Christmas to all,
jack
Congrats on 100k. Love the Utah/nevada gearhead sphere.
Seeing a sunk and recovered boat that`s been underwater for 30yrs is an amazing! Your man Jimmy coming in clutch on this process. Sanding and extensive cleaning is not fun!!!
13:30 Knowing the end of the story, these rope fragments explain the account of the owner on this truly fateful trip, his engine failing.
This series with the finale is one of the most powerful I have ever seen on YT because I was casually following the low Lake Powell water level videos on YT through/after Covid.
I saw this boat in so many videos.
And to have you'all rebuild it and then the truly epic story from the previous owner, so much is tied up in this boat.
That's pretty awesome the boat doesn't have more damage than it ended up with. Could you put a chrome plate over the hole for future access to the u bolt. the boat is looking pretty nice so far great job all of you have been doing take care.
What a great set of videos. I love watching this jet boat getting rebuilt. Awesome job
Which Ford engine was in there?
Simply amazing! Thanks for sharing this with us.
Really enjoying your channel so interesting. Merry Christmas from Cornwall UK
Merry Christmas! So awesome to have you watching! ❤❤❤❤
Jimmy deserves first drive for his efforts.
Definitely enjoying the tear down! Looking forward to the rebuild 🤙🏽
hey Merlin, I found your channel a few days ago, you guys have way too much fun. I love it ! Can't wait to see the rest of this yellow sub. Merry christmas and Happy new year from frigid Pennsylvania.
Congrats on a 100K!!! Like I said a while back- Most underrated channel on TY! Jimmy's da Man!
I sent Paul a picture of the boat when it first emerged from the lake. Have him forward it to you.
Great work, by the way!
Some years back I was making s new fiberglass motorcycle fender for my Bultaco. I was having problems with air bubbles between the glass layers. The brush I was using was cut so they bristles were only 5/16 - 3/8" long, then used to dab the resin through the mat layer till no air was left.
Nice work on the boat!
If I were you guys, I would think about making some kind of plug/cover that could be bolted on so that if you need under there at a later date you wouldn't need to drill another hole. Maybe I don't have a clue, I have never owned a boat, so maybe that is not an issue to have no access to the nuts for the u-bolt.
I like your content. I built a 1923 T Bucket from scratch, much like your channel's name, "Old School." I trailered it to Hurricane and then drove it up to show Paul. I built it differently than most T Buckets. I have a lot of ground clearance. While I was in Hurricane, I drove it up to Toquerville Falls. I had zero issues going up that road. I will surely make that trip again some day, maybe I can make it down to meet you Merlin. I also want to meet Rory.
I like all of your channels. I watch every new video that you 6 put out. Merlin's, Matt's, Paul's, Rory's, Casey's (in Bend) and Rudy's. I build things much like all of you guys. No plans, just start doing it. When I was building my T Bucket, I just bolted my TH 375 on to my 396, set it up on blocks on my shop floor, then moved the front and rear axles around until I liked it, then built the frame. Just like you guys do, just much much slower. LOL
Time to refer to Jimmy as Super Jim!!! He saved the day by taking the lead in pursuer washing.
Super Jim! He'll like that! ❤❤❤
Loving the channel. Found you from Fab Rats obviously, after about 4 of the video's i realised that you are in Lake Havasu .. obvious i know but my 71 Bay window was imported 10 yrs ago to the UK and title shows Lake Havasu as last owners location. pointless info but made me smile, keep doing what you are doing. 🙂
Thanks Merlin for sharing another educational episode. What is it they say? Once you stop learning you die!
Jimmy is the true definition of a great friend! I enjoy seeing you two together helping each other out. He is such a great friend that he took his pants off on camera for your video.
Stay safe healthy and happy 👍
Jimmy is a solid friend; he handles all this madness with a smile. I would think you could add a bow light into that new "bow light" hole. ;-)
You know merlin has awesome friends Jimmy is a good man to roll around in that
The Yellow Submarine series is amazing! You guys friendship is amazing. I've learned I need a few more tape measures and how to keep track of the four I have and can never find when I need them!🤓 Great project!
Absolutely Awesome!! I am amazed at how many different skills you have. If only everyone had a friend like Jimmy!
Fantastic music choice at 6:30! Jimmy is the man, both of them.
As an old timer I appreciate this video more than you could know 👍
100k subscribers, congrats! With this crew best yet to come....can't wait for more.
Just for you REI
Can't wait to see the Yellow Submarine zooming across the water! Nice work, Merlin! BTW, you earned my subscription!
Moving right along!!!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Stay warm!!
Jimmy is the GOAT! He has a true servant's heart.
Looks like you will be getting a plaque soon! Congrats Merlin!
After seeing that old ford come back to life, I've been looking forward to seeing you guys work on the yellow submarine project. Keep up the great work, and merry Christmas.
West Systems & Marine-Tex, two of the marine super glues. P.S. Jimmy, Marine-Tex is also available in grey. Some 5200 bedding compound around that jet-drive & you'll need a jackhammer to get it out. Worked on a 45' sail boat that was made using the West Systems epoxy & what a beauty, wow! (Orenda, NYC)
I love y'all. Man brings back some good memories. Thank you. I'm gear head girl, learned how to rebuild an engine when I was 15.
Merlin, I may be your age or older or younger but the point is I marvel at your knowledge and smart’s you Jimmy are truly two people that I could and am still learning from. Along with Fab Rats and Chads Fab! You guys are a awesome family team that us nobody’s so enjoy! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! And GOD BLESS you All! Thank You for making life a little more enjoyable!
Merry Christmas to you! ❤❤❤
