I use to have a 5 foot gopher snake that was so cool..I kept him in a terrarium for a short period of time then I let him go.
He made our backyard his home. In the winter time he would hibernate underground right up against our backyard fence so I always knew where to find him.
I love how you went to the actual store and looked at the items, you should do that more often in videos.
That’s nice. I just found a Grand Basin Gopher Snake in Oregon. 13-14 inches long on 9/17/2022 so I’m from FL and now in Las Vegas. So King Snakes I’ve had. But this Gopher will have 4-5 hides I made 2 myself from Cedar wood. The rest are ornaments I’ve drilled holes in. So my 75 gallon tank has lots of room and plenty of hides. Very colorful set up. This snake has a #1 print on top of its body. 3rd marking from the head. Amazing find. She will be my beautiful new pet in warm Las Vegas. Good video 🤙🏻

These questions are for the Sonoran gopher snake. How long do they hibernate for or how do you know when their done hibernating? How old do they have to be to start hibernating? What months do they usually hibernate in?

6:29 A little hint on how to make those ugly plastic hiding boxes look more attractive: hot-glue some dry moss and/or dry leafs on it (can be found too at the dollar store if I remember well, in the crafting department). Works like a charm and looks way more natural. Side note: just sand it down a bit first so that the glue sticks better to it.

Ps: I don't trust analog thermometers etc at all anymore. Bought several ones and none showed the correct temperature (used a temperature gun to check it). All of them showed different temperatures too. While one showed 80 degrees (for example), another one showed 90 and yet another one barely made it to 70 degrees. All placed on the same spot, no difference in lighting or room temperature. Therefor I now only use the digital ones that have a tiny sensor. The casing can be put out of sight (they actually usually come in black and can be stuck on the black parts of the terrarium, in such way that you barely notice them. The sensor goes inside and is barely visible too. AND they are accurate.

Hey LLL, do you have any hide that could hold a LARGE boa constrictor on your webside? Shy of having to make something of my own, there are very limited options for those of us who keep larger snakes.

Bullsnakes are quite handleable, hardy, easy to find and afordable. So, I would definitely recommend them as a first snake.

Starterpack360 no not quite not enough hiding spots and would need a bigger water dish I don't like aspen for my balls either I recommend a mix of repti bark and coco fiber like ecoearth and would recommend a minimum of a 40 gallon tank personally 20 is just to small

Wow... Can somebody tell me more about the Bull snake? I've never heard of this type of snake, I'm sorry to say :(
+Chrissie G It's what they call a rattlesnake look alike, Non-Venomous Colubrid Constrictor. One of the bigger Colubrids, it will grow up to 8 foot long with a nice girth to it if held properly. The Bullsnake is an intermediate level snake, not recommended for beginners usually because of the attitude some of them have, they are an attractive snake to handlers and breeders due to their ease of keep and the high social reward when you tame the attitude flare down. Lastly in captivity, they are fairly active snakes, since they eat mice they have real runny poops and should be cleaned out after any excretion for both good husbandry and to avoid disease, due to this runny poo however, they stink, so I'd recommend a weekly or bi-weekly cleaning with reptile safe chemicals cleaner such as Natural Habitat, I'd also recommend getting an Air Purifier to clean the air of all the nasty snake ass smell. All around a very rewarding animal to keep as a pet or to breed with. Hope this helps.
