  • I had to wait to post this video as the truck was a surprise for my friends (rust hustlers) wife for her birthday. We were extremely pleased with how this truck turned out!
This amazing Ford highboy got the works, brand new wheels and tires, all new brakes and hardware, new rancho shocks, entire chassis and running gear coated in Eastwood chassis paint, all new body mounts and hardware, cleaned up and painted motor, new carpet and seat for the interior, as well as a few coats of spray on clear from poppy’s patina!

I’m definitely not a Ford guy but I do love fords older high boy trucks for sure along with the older broncos!! My dad had a 1978 high boy back when I was in school!!! We used to take it out at 2:00am to deliver the Sunday newspaper in the country!! That sure is a beautiful truck and definitely a well done project also!!! She definitely was so excited also to see her new truck!!! Awesome video buddy!!!!

I’m definitely a Chevy guy myself, so I know exactly where you’re coming from. But a lot of my friends are ford guys, so we have a lot of fun making comments about ford vs. Chevy, but I agree, I do like these older fords, and wouldn’t mind getting my hands on a first gen bronco at some point.

I did a body swap from a 76 highboy-to a 74, alot of work, then the 74 body started going south so I found a sweet 78 to put on the 76 chassis. I waas looking for a contact to ask you some questions, as I'm interested in restoring this same kind of pick up truck. 67-72 F-100 or 250. Does not have to be a car show quality, but at least a safe and reliable and decent looking inside and outside. My grand pa rode this truck and memories are so valuable when he took me fr a ride around town when I was little. I wonder if it's hard to find a truck that is restorable to a reasonable cost. I would let a more skilled polisher have a go at that paint. I see swirls absolutely everywhere in the light

Yea, it’s good now, we were on a little bit of a tight time frame to get it done for the birthday girl.

I was trying to watch but the yapping dogs were annoying.

I agree, super annoying! I told him to quiet down, but he didn’t listen.

Was the donor engine a 360 or a 390 FE engine?

If you’re using the donor body and the engine, why not just restore the black one and save a heap of money ? Nice job anyway 👍, gooday from AUS 🦘🇦🇺

Thank you! I should have gone a little more in depth on a few details, the metal on the highboy cab mounts were completely rotted away, and the motor was blown in the highboy, and the donor truck had a bad transmission, but a perfect motor and body.

They’re called “Samson traker”, they’re bias plies, and come out to about a 34”-35” height. I think my buddy ordered them online, but I’m not 100% sure from where.
