    The First, & last, time a customer said they did not receive their order, my wife ordered a body camera. I turn it on when I even think the customer may pop out to receive their food. I have video of me handing the order to the customer. If it is a pizza, leave it at the door, I still turn the camera on. It is seen, & like I said, we have only one customer - Starbucks coffee order to an older man - say they didn't get their order. Body camera - like security have - that issue stopped. 78% AR, 100% Comp. 4.97% Rating, 96% on time or early, 1606 life time del. We dash on my off time, I normally drive for FedEx Ground in Sacramento, CA.

    One thing that I started doing is sometimes I have an order that says "Hand it to me: leave it on the porch" when this is the case the app wont give you the take a pic option before closing out so what I do is I still take the pic and I text the pic to the customer. This way if they claim they didnt get their food DD can find the record of my pic. Sometimes people have in the app "voice calls only" and you cant send them a text of the pic. When this happens, I still take a pic to have in my phone in case they claim I didnt drop it off and DD gives me a violation I can send them the pic at that point

    my first day in the Large Order program, I received a $6.00 large order.. turned out to be $300 worth of Sushi, but the total stayed $6.00.. I learned then not to take catering-required orders unless they have a +, or if the dollar/mile ratio is good without it. Since then, I have seen several $2-3 catering required orders that I passed on.

    I take immaculate records. So far, this has saved me from two lying customers, claiming I never delivered their orders when I have copies of me contacting them before I pick up the order, when I pick up the order in addition to that record from the store, and then after I have delivered it. I will also often take a picture of the person‘s door and mailbox and possibly street depending on the situation But no matter what you document I would definitely say that documentation is everything. Now getting paid terribly is a totally different thing and I don’t understand why I have gone from 35 and $40 tips to nothing for tips.

    • @pavry
      @pavry 5 месяцев назад

      This also usually prompts a response from the customer but at the very least you can take a picture of the chat box/text box or message box and what the timestamp is. In one situation I encountered fairly early on, the customer claimed over 40 minutes after I Had delivered the order that they never received it and since this order was only about five minutes away, that would be ridiculous so yes, just document everything.

    So I had a Pizza Hut order for $3 that turned out it was 25 pizzas. I normally wouldn't accept anything that low but I accidentally clicked it. When I showed up I knew the people at Pizza Hut were involved as like a sixth sense kind of thing.
    Got it to the location and the person who I delivered it to directly said something that kind of implied a fairly large tip. At first I thought it was just the customer being a jerk but then I remembered funny business going on at the Pizza Hut. I got on the phone with support and reported that there might have been something funny about the order but I couldn't put my finger on it. It's been since my second delivery so like 1600 in between where I haven't felt like I've been scanned until just now yesterday.

    Yes I got a little Caesars catering order and only got paid three dollars. No tip had to deliver 16 pizzas. It was ridiculous. It was to a high school. I was on pay by hour , it was added on to another order I already had and DoorDash had me deliver the big order first even though it came in like 7 minutes later because I was still waiting on first order .

    Whenever someone tries to scam for a leave iit up my door order and comes outside, I ALWAYS screenshot their address, name and restaurant pickup just in case. One time this guy tried to say I didn't deliver his order. Needless to say, all of his windows in his house were broken the next day and his car was filled with paint inside and out. I got one low catering order and was under the impression that they may want to tip in cash as I have had a lot of cash tips. When they asked if I got the tip thru the app they were shocked when I said no. I even showed them my phone and they tipped me cash and apologized that is was less then what I was supposed to get. I did not know that restaurants kept the tips.

    The only scam I encountered was a claim that they didn't get their order even though I handed it directly to them. It was a dollar store that I had to go all the way to a different city and then back to my city since it was the only store open at the time. I handed to the customer at the entrance to a hospital and it included kid's food (lunchables) so assume it was for her sick child. I even contacted her over the phone for a substitution. It gave me my only strike on my account that I've ever gotten and my appeal was never completed. It only went away after a hundred orders later removed it by default. No tip also.

      I'm not surprised. The main scammers usually order from cheap fast food places and stores like Dollar General. I stopped taking dollar store orders years ago cos it's just so unorganized and takes so long just to find a few items.

    The scam/hustle in my area is a customer watching you and canceling orders as soon as you accept then texting they have a higher tip if you bring the food. Its wild out here, dasher support either has you return the food if you are still close or dispose of it.

    My personal favorite delivery conundrum was the description from the customer (and I shit you not) “it’s the building with the windows, with glass”. I called said customer to verbally confirm. They were visibly aggravated with my response (when I showed up) of “ma’am, all windows have glass, can you give me a landmark?”. To which they responded with a 2⭐️ rating. But what is one to do?

    I got it once on a large pizza order for a church group. The leader asked if I received the large tip she included and I just said I’m not a liberty to discuss the financial end of the transaction. She knows my wife and asked her who said no. The church decided not to use DoorDash or the restaurant again. Not sure which kept the $$$. Now they send a volunteer to pick up any food for their functions. Problem solved. But it hurts us drivers. I used to make around $250 a week with DoorDash. I don’t do DoorDash much anymore and concentrate on Uber Eats and Spark.

    Once had an issue where the store and drop off were within 2 miles for like $9 or some. So I do the usual; let them know what's going on, give the eta, let em know I'm on my way type deal. Note that they haven't messaged me back (happens frequently I know) until Im three doors down and I get a message along the line of "where are you sending it to?" I immediately thought they might have forgot to change the address from their preferences so I informed them of where I was and the address. Maybe 5 minutes are going by as I'm parked at the designated address going back and forth trying to figure out what's up, after 2 missed calls I decided to call support. Not even three seconds into confirming my identity with the rep their woman is creeping up to my vehicle really mad waving her hands and demanding her food. The "customer" on the messages apparently was a scammer and was going to send me across town.
    Always call support if you're not sure of the situation it was a really weird experience.

    Most recent one was a leave it at door. Took the pic of the food with the apartment number in the shot. As soon as I hit complete, I had a phone call which I ignored. When the contract violation showed up, I simply typed in to verify the GPS record and to look at the picture with the apartment number. I also told them losing my income was not worth stealing, let alone stealing Burger King.

    Thank you for all your content Bentley! You are the man. I haven’t had a catering order yet however I’ve had a few orders where it really made me wonder why DoorDash would even allow such an order, $2.50 for a 10 mile drive. I didn’t accept it but it frustrates me because doesn’t this affect my ‘Acceptance Ratio’ if I don’t accept? I didn’t decline it but from my understanding the ‘Decline’ button simply makes the order disappear quickly without waiting for the countdown.
