    1) Get a calendar: do NOT write down due dates, write when you are going to do them (ideally before the due date :D)
    2) Ask plenty of questions (when appropriate)
    3) It's okay to not get all A's, focus on passing...
    4) You can totally work during school, it's all time management. Procrastination is a product of too much free time.
    5) Nursing school isn't a test of intelligence, it's a test of will.

    I've been an RN for 31 years. ALWAYS introduce yourself and talk to your patients and let them know what you are doing BEFORE you do it. I have always done this. So many nurses get focused on what they are doing and do not talk to their patients. I had a colonoscopy 4 years ago and while one nurse was talking to me, this other RN grabbed my right hand and put in an IV without even saying a word to me. So many people go into nursing because it is a good job and not because they really care about others that much. When they took me into the room for the procedure, another nurse was injecting me with Versed, again without even telling me. I looked at her and asked her if she was giving me Versed, and she smiled, and said, "yes." Another thing to watch out for is bullying. There is a lot of this in the nursing profession. Stick up for yourself.

I usually wake up at 4:30A.M and do my homework until 7:00 A.M before my babies wake up after that throughout the day I make sure to not touch the computer, worry, or stress over my homework in order to give the home, my kids, myself, and my husband the undivided attention.

      Apply to as many schools as you can. Check what pre reqs are needed for the school. Some nursing programs can admit you right away if your GPA is high, or you'd just take some college classes first

    • @maeganjames2490
      @maeganjames2490 5 лет назад +23

      I would say as a pre-nursing student now, make sure you have applied to many universities and look at their degree plan. Visit the campus and ask the appropriate people that work there (nursing dean, nursing chairs, and nursing professors) what classes you can take in the summer. Getting ahead in your prerequisites will allow you to finish college faster. This means getting into a local community college that the classes can transfer from. Take AP classes or Dual Credit to let you test out of those prereqs or earn the credit. Keep your GPA high and stay positive. I'll be praying for you.

      Baz 98 I know I’m late responding but one thing to do is go to community college first and get your Associate Nursing degree and then you can apply to be a transfer student and apply to a nursing school. Community colleges don’t really look at grades. And then after the two years of getting your associates chances are the university you apply to will look at you community college grades not so much of your high school grades. I hope that helped! 💖

      @kyannastewart6156 6 лет назад +26

      Matreya. Rene I haven’t done it myself yet, I’m an incoming Junior in high school. Here’s how the process works. You don’t apply to nursing school until after two years of doing what is called pre-nursing. That includes classes that you’ll need to already have under your belt for nursing school. So things like organic bio and chem, anatomy and physiology and a bunch of other classes. I personally have struggled with high school, my grades aren’t terrible but they are not the best. What I’m going to do is do two years at a community college that offers pre nursing and take all of my classes there, it’s way cheap opposed to going to a 4 year university. After you finish those two year then you apply to nursing school. Nursing school is typically at a 4 year university but if you’re going to be a RN and want a BSN you only need to go to nursing school for two years at the university (that’s my understanding) after those two years you take what is called the NCLEX. That determines if you can be licensed RN, if you pass congratulations you are officially an RN. Some people also will get their Associates in Nursing, ASN at a community college and you become an LPN, it’s just less schooling and less pay. You can take the NCLEX become a LPN work while you go to school to be RN and while you get your BSN. Then you take the NCLEX again if I’m correct and then you’re a RN. While you go through this process your college Advisor will help you with everything you need. Getting the correct classes, guiding you with certain things etc. I hope I helped in some sort of way!

Nemours is the same but Florida hospital has a shadow opportunity but you have to know a nurse and put in their information. Unfortunately I don't know any and sadly they don't find nurses for you to shadow. This makes it more difficult for people like me considering nursing but is not sure if it's for them.
