Overview
The Bell Aircraft P-39 Airacobra was one of the principal American fighter aircraft in service when the United States entered World War II. The P-39 was used with great success by the Soviet Air Force, which scored the highest number of individual kills attributed to any US fighter type.
Cobra II a major modification to the original P-39, was owned jointly by Johnston and Bell test pilots Chalmers "Slick" Goodin and Jack Woolams, Cobra II was favored to win the 1946 Thompson Trophy race, doing so against race-modified P-51 Mustangs. Cobra II was lost in 1946 during a late afternoon test flight over Lake Ontario, possibly at speeds of up to 400 mph (640km/h). Cobra II competed again in the 1947 Thompson Trophy, finishing third. In the 1948 Thompson Trophy race, she was unable to finish due to engine difficulties.

The weather is crazy this year. We have now rain every few hours and its really cold. Then sun comes out again and its humid. 30 minutes later rain and wind again. Blaž mowed the runway but the grass will grow again before we will get there to fly something.
With as long as that nose gear strut is, I am surprised it didn’t tear out or fold up when it landed on grass. Beautiful plane and sexy flying pilot Robert! Congratulations

Such an interesting model this is! In reality the pilot had a huge shaft between his legs... I mean from the engine to the propeller of course.
It’s a nice model from FMS and it comes with the landing gear too!

Nice bird, love the retracts! That bird flys pretty good. Its pretty fast. Flaps are tricky. I know they are know as a high lift device, but your landing was pretty good. This is it! Big salute for my friends at the air fild and always a good time!

The P-39 is such a good looking airplane, and the racing livery sets it off really nicely. Thankfully you were high up when you tested the flaps. Everyone gets a little mixed up once in a while. No biggie. Good job of landing it too.

Love my rochobby P-39, fast bird, does great knife edges and flat spins like crazy, yes put some down elevator to flap mix and that will take care of the ballooning for sure ✌️👊

AWESOME! Flaps cause nose down pitch in steady state conditions. Plane will balloon if going too fast. Once speed decreases you will likely need up elevator to trim. Flaps should decrease tip stall.
Use small flap angles and work up to higher flap angles and stall test to find the stall speed. Every plane is different! Keep cg in same spot when testing flaps. That matters, too.
I will not use any mix for the second flight to see.

Hi Robert from NZ, it’s been a long time my friend and I hope you are well-I had one of these myself and I still would if somebody had not pushed me with a crazy offer to sell it. Fantastic flying plane (that i will DEFINITELY be replacing)which I used to refer to as my “jet trainer” Due to the way it handles and especially when landing as it comes in quite fast as you will know. Give my regards to Blaz and the family, and enjoy the summer while we are freezing here in NZ👍👍

Hey pilot Robert 😉 I set up flight modes on my flap switch and I am able to trim the plane for each flap setting once you get it trimmed it flys perfect every time and no guessing on the mixing 😀👍
I have the e flight 1200mm p 39 and I love that plane it flys awesome I also have the 980mm p40 I will have to maiden soon wish me luck
I will have to try that my friend. But for the second flight with this baby I will remove mixing. I dont think it needs it at all.

You will love it.
You don't need a mix with the flaps and elevator. Low wing planes will descend with flaps, high wing planes will balloon up with flaps. If you want a elevator mix do it only on high wing planes.

@@PetrincicBrosRC My low wing Seagull I-Sport pitches up with landing flaps selected. You did the right thing which was to try it with some height on. With full size A/C the sequence is to slow down first, then drop the gear, then apply flaps in sequence and apply trim accordingly.

You will love it my friend. The quality is amazing.
Flaps have a maximum speed to be deployed on full size planes. Modelairplanes are beefed up and don't care about that. In a full, size plane, if you deploy flaps above maximum allowed speed, it can cause damages to plane. 767 had a sensor in witch, if you had flaps deployed above allowed speed, it would retract automatically. All being said, if you deploy flaps above certaiin speed, model will baloon, even with nose down trim. Reduce speed a little before lowering flaps, and model won't baloon like that. I loved this little yellow racer.Easy to see in the sky. Keep it flying!

Does the NX6 have flight modes? If so, use them for the flaps. You will be able to trim all the control surfaces individually and separately for each flight mode during the maiden.

So easy to do things like this you should do a separate check on each others planes if Captain Blaz sets one up you check it and if you set one up Captain Blaz checks it 👍 we have a written check list at my club to tick off for any new model 👌

Now this I Like - I like everything about this Cobra II - Flap Elevator mix is an easy mistake when I have made it I call it a senior moment LOL. I always go up 0.30 seconds when I have a 54% battery at the end of a maiden - then after each flight add another 0.30 Seconds until I am happy with a 35% battery capacity left... Super Aircraft - It is a shame that shipping to the UK is over $100.00 - then HMRC Import Tax - makes it over expensive - :-( , anyway - Here is a Big British Salute from Cambridgeshire UK...Dis is it .....Cut

Flaps are funny that way, theoretically a low wing with flaps deployed should nose down an you should need up elevator to stay level. I figured there must be something wrong in the mix
Maybe I will turn off mixing for second flight. Could be that it doesnt even need it. We will see.

The flaps were dropped with too much speed.. Even in a real airplane if you drop the flaps going to quick the same thing will happen.. I think the flaps are fine...
