Ken Lawrence guitars are far more than musical instruments, they are works of art. To me, having a real KL Explorer hanging on my wall would be the equivalent of displaying a van Gogh . Don't judge me, that's just my personal taste.
Yeah, when I first learned of Ken Lawrence guitars, especially the brown one that James Hetfield owns. I was dissapointed to find out he only makes so many guitars a year, making it near impossible to buy one.
The CARL guitar is the best idea ever and the inlays are crazy. Freakin LOVE that guitar. Imagine how much that is worth to a massive fan or collector. The original one actually made from the wood and the four coins too. I would stare at that thing all day and night. Lol and play it of course....well maybe not. Lol
Been talking to him via email many times but great to see the man himself on video, thanks for making and sharing it. Finally managed to secure myself one of his masterpieces second hand the other day, unreal instrument.
Nothing quite like chasing your dream and landing with both feet in the exact place to make it happen. I missed my dream "job", but now it's my dream hobby. I am in the middle of doing my first "Explorer" guitar and it will be my 45th build (I think) and it will be my swan song.
Hey, he doesn't just build for metalheads...Check out bassist Rich Brown...He can really play and he plays a fretted Kenneth Lawrence 6 string bass...Great interview, thanks!
Yes, exactly. He makes incredible basses as well. An all around master craftsman indeed. I'm hoping to do some more in depth videos of his process. Thanks for checking out the vid.
Looking at his shop you can tell he is a truly gifted Luthier and a professional. This reflects highly with me if I'm to spend big money on a custom guitar.
He made THE MOST incredible Explorer Guitars for James Hetfield that I've ever seen!

100% Agree
That‘s true.. Although I‘m an ESP guy.
Except hanging that guitar means its potential is going to waste. They deserve the respect by being played

Definitely. A dream of mine is to be rich enough and good enough on the guitar to be able to own and play a Ken Lawrence explorer .
To fianlly see him in person is amazing! He used to be like this unreachable individual. Please - more videos with this man!
SUBBED. thanks so much for posting this. I think it's every metalheads dream at some point to own a Kenneth Lawrence explorer 😂

@@davidferney3776 I hope you can catch him for another interview; good luck!✌🏾👍🏽🤗

what is the best way to get in contact with him to do a custom build?
This is his shop number
(707) 822-2543 or you can message him on his Facebook page. Do mention that you saw this video.
@@davidferney3776 Thank you!!!
He looks like an American blue collar version of Tim Roth
Hope he's not too old so I have 1-2 years to save money and order mine
Did you order it?
Do they have a website to contact or check out guitars?
If i was rich..... I'm going to ask him build a ultimate guitar for me Muahahahaha!!!!!!!
I would
But does anybody know how much a Kenneth Lawrence guitar would cost? I don't think I can get away with $4000,-...
They start around $7500 and it's a 3 year waiting list
@@jeisonhansson not true. Quoted from his 2020 price list "Explorer and V guitars without inlays, start at $5600.00"
too much money for a guitar copy of Gibson explorer body and Washburn PT headstock...
You're getting way more quality and attention to detail than you'll ever receive from Gibson.
All you really said is that it borrows the design, nothing else.
James plays this probably more than any other guitar he owns…except maybe the iron cross black LP or the white V
what router is he using for the inlays ?he kind of made his custom base
