So excited to see this - a beginning to a desperately needed change

This is a fantastic start! For those who are discouraged and say "it's only 60 people", remember that we have to start somewhere - "A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step" !!

I am so happy to see this come to fruition. It's only a start, but it's a fantastic start.

It's wonderful for those 60 people who are now off the streets, but as Officer Ahearn said, you have a long way to go. It's difficult to envision the future of this. Will you keep converting more and more motels? Will these people really achieve their housing goals beyond this? And will this lead to fewer homeless in Arcata or more, as more homeless are likely to respond to this and migrate there. It will be interesting to see if the townspeople appreciate the thought of bigger and bigger sections of Arcata being used for this. I don't know what the solution to homelessness is in this day and age, and at least you're trying to do something, but I can't see this leading to fewer homeless in Arcata.

Of special note is the unique "glass armonica" played by composer Gina Leishman about 9-1/2 minutes into the piece. -KF

This extraordinary chamber opera by the late Joan Schirle and Gina Leishman was performed in "workshop" at the Arcata Playhouse in August 2021. This 13-minute excerpt gives a good thumbnail sketch of the longer piece, which cries out to be produced by a large professional company -- perhaps Seattle Opera. Morris Graves, the man whose paintings and life inspired Joan and Gina's work, lived in Seattle, so the idea of "Bird of the Inner Eye" being produced professionally in Seattle makes perfect artistic sense. -Kirk Frederick

Been talking to him via email many times but great to see the man himself on video, thanks for making and sharing it. Finally managed to secure myself one of his masterpieces second hand the other day, unreal instrument.

Looking at his shop you can tell he is a truly gifted Luthier and a professional. This reflects highly with me if I'm to spend big money on a custom guitar.

The CARL guitar is the best idea ever and the inlays are crazy. Freakin LOVE that guitar. Imagine how much that is worth to a massive fan or collector. The original one actually made from the wood and the four coins too. I would stare at that thing all day and night. Lol and play it of course....well maybe not. Lol

Nothing quite like chasing your dream and landing with both feet in the exact place to make it happen. I missed my dream "job", but now it's my dream hobby. I am in the middle of doing my first "Explorer" guitar and it will be my 45th build (I think) and it will be my swan song.
