Can we show some love for Zach Harmon? Zach has been with Metallica for 30+ years and a very big part of the road crew. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to one of the greatest hard rock/metal acts of all time. Without the road crew there is no show!!!
It reminds me of a Christmas Story when Ralphies dad gets the sexy leg lamp and the mom is like"Oh that's nice." Yet you know she's really saying "What the hell! That's not staying!"
this is what I have always liked about Metallica, they allow the fans and everyone else to see behind the lines, thanks Metallica and Guitar World for a look behind the lines.
Man, that is a lot of gear!! haha that must be a pain in the ass to hall all of that all over the country and world! thats is freakin amazing, i would kill to jam in there with them! METALLICA RULES!!!!
@tottanoise That is a "room" made with large foam blocks called baffles. This is used to create a temporary room usually for the guitar amps. This way the guitar or vocals can be recorded without interfering with drums or other instruments.
Hey I wonder where the closet is in HQ that has all the gear on it that the band used to get their guitar tones from about 1983-1991. Maybe you could help the band by getting that stuff out again for them. Thank you for your consideration.
I know what you mean. They need to kick the door down and dust off rhe equipment so us before the mainstream Metallica fans can reminisce and hear the classic Metallica we grew up with.
@ZOMB13 Actually, if you're a big Kill'Em All Fan, you're right, EMGs weren't around at this time. They start using EMGs one RTL (on some songs) and MOP (entirely). EMGs are great sounding Pickups when they're well configured. They did a great job on AJFA and the Black Album. For some reasons, they totally changed their tone on the late 90's.
great video... it makesme almost cry how they just have tons of stuff (even twice) and I'm just happy with having one marshall amp and a small PA :S... life is... well... weird...
That looks amazing, but way too cluttered and complicated for my taste. I do love the idea of having a rehearsal / tracking room as one room, and the work shop is a nice touch.
hey huge matallica fan i am 13 but i already play guitar well and wants to live there i would like to bring back heavy metal and become one of the big 4 bring that agresion back to the wold thx pleaze watch my vids and tell james to know my apresiation of him andhow much of a inspiation hes been to life bye.
Metallica purchased the lot and building in 9/2000 for 1.7 million according to property records. Unreal. 1.7 mil and they have a base that pretty much houses the majority of the Metallica Company juggernaut.
Before that this was their rehearsal space. In the behind the scenes of S&M you can see them practice in this place before they had it renovated. It was a regular purpose rehearsal space, other big bands also rented it to rehearse in before it was sold to Metallica.
@ZOMB13 I like both, but I still think Metallica signature tone belong to EMGs. Kill'Em All sounds more old garage dynamic tone (which I love). It's just a question of tastes I guess.^^

3:10 - "No place suitable at his home so it ended up here" -- Translation: His wife said, "no".
XD
It reminds me of a Christmas Story when Ralphies dad gets the sexy leg lamp and the mom is like"Oh that's nice." Yet you know she's really saying "What the hell! That's not staying!"

"No suitable place at his home"
TRANSLATION:
"His wife said no.."
6:46 - my father was at that concert, said that was the best metal show he ever saw. So f*cking envious of him but then again I was born at 91'.
You could hear the sound difference when he walked into the recording room.very tight sound.
Wow, how much time AND knowledge does this take to set up, respect for the crew.
Years and years of trial and error.
haha "this is the okland raiders backdrop that james spraypainted in the driveway" haha cracks me up!
this is what I have always liked about Metallica, they allow the fans and everyone else to see behind the lines, thanks Metallica and Guitar World for a look behind the lines.
How can you NOT like vids like these? I'm a gearhead myself and this is BADASS...so cool to see behind the scenes stuff like this
seeing all this gear and unbelievable dream setup to record with makes me happy St. Anger even more
Hard to believe so much time has passed
would i love having a studio like this? YES!
Dude thats insane! I wish I could jam there with some buddies
5:23 "Don't feed the fish" :D
Looks just like my home studio. I WISH! Cool tour! I wonder what the new updated one looks like?
Man, that is a lot of gear!! haha that must be a pain in the ass to hall all of that all over the country and world! thats is freakin amazing, i would kill to jam in there with them! METALLICA RULES!!!!

Ben Lloyd It got stolen.
I think that was the kill em all gear.
I know what you mean. They need to kick the door down and dust off rhe equipment so us before the mainstream Metallica fans can reminisce and hear the classic Metallica we grew up with.

@@magictea1812 I think they used the MOP MarkIIC+ on Hardwired
i would love that place, kewl guitars, huge amps, all i need to a shredder needs to be happy
“In this building they have their website.” I love me some boomer talk.
i can't imagine how much money was spent to set that place up. i mean just the guitar rigs alone, 2 sets of everything wow.
The funny thing is, with those guitar rigs, guitars, basses, drums. That stuff they likely get free through endorsements.
I love the Nugent sign...
Also, a flamed piano is a great idea. I want to buy a piano and have someone do that to it.
so awesome ...
How many people does Metallica employ to do their website?
That expensive piano became worth more with James' pinstripe job 🔥
i think it is, when i saw it, that was the first thing that come in my mind, and now that i read tour comm...i bet it is
600TH LIKE!!!! I wish I could live there...
HELL YEEAAHHH :D Im suprised too... very very nice :)

7:14 Brings back the memorys of Some Kind Of Monster!...
Nick Bowcott - that the guy from Grim Reaper, right?
LOL at Kirk's rig - 3 rack for a clean, distorted and a wah sound :)
That looks amazing, but way too cluttered and complicated for my taste. I do love the idea of having a rehearsal / tracking room as one room, and the work shop is a nice touch.
Can't wait for Death Magnetic to come out:D!

@ZOMB13 I like both, but I still think Metallica signature tone belong to EMGs. Kill'Em All sounds more old garage dynamic tone (which I love). It's just a question of tastes I guess.^^
