- About 18 months ago I came home with what I thought was my genius plan. To become an over the road team trucker with my hubby Scott. He didn't think it was all the great of an idea until I said we could pay off our house! You heard it right. Go watch and find out more.

You guys are awesome. Quite the inspiration.
I found your channel and I really enjoy listening to your advice and your ideas on how to do different things on and off the road. Keep up the good work!
kcsunshine39 thanks for the kind words!
Great video guys. Keep up the good work.
Oh wow guys, this is exactly our dream! Hubby has been driving on and off for the past 30 years, I joined him 5 years ago. Our house and cars are paid off, working on credit cards now. I will retire in 4 years (we're quite a bit older than you, lol), and will be starting a new path with chickens and a garden on the homestead. Best wishes to you both in your endeavors.
How EXCITING for y'all! Best of luck with your homestead! Sounds lovey! Many blessings!
Homesteading is a matter of survival at this point, as shortages get worse.
Absolutely agreed! The life style offers so many blessings that many have never experienced.
Love your videos 👏👏👏
Thank you! Did you just find us?
Just subscribed to your channel and loving the videos. I have 15 yrs of LTL trucking. Just last month recently went over the road. First video I saw of you is the toilet bucket. I had that unfortunate experience. Had to use crouch down and use a bag. A bucket is on my list for the weekend. Not a bad idea for emergency. I love how you kept it real. It’s nothing to be embarrassed about. It’s part of nature. Everybody pees and everybody poops. Thanks. And look forward to catching up on your past and future videos.
Welcome! Thank you for all your kind words and support. I drove LTL 8years.... now being with FedEx Ground I would never go back! I hope our channel helps you make the transition easier. Drive safe and many Blessings
Love it!! I’m an OTR O/P. I just read Dave’s book. Me and my wife have $180k of debt, and just started the steps here in Aug, planning to be debt free in 2 years as well. Love the video. Inspiring!
Congratulations on a new way of living. To no longer be a slave to the lender! You got this! Head down and press in!
Old school solution to a modern problem ! This (what you are doing), tiny houses etc is people waking up to problems of buy now pay later. Happy trucking you two, stay safe. 😎 ps it's nice to see you both tackling this as a team ! Don't see that often these days.
Adam ant thank you for your kind words! You are spot on!
Thank you for very nice video, motivation and positive attitude! Love it! Thank you! By the way I am trying to become a truck driver in Canada.
Thank you. I hope put channel answers some questions you may have about trucking. Check out my video on how I got into trucking ruclips.net/video/og7PSWBz0QQ/видео.html
That's fantastic I want to do the home stead if thing too
good teamwork .. both sides can make a great bridge,,
This is exactly what my wife and I want to do and she is a nurse! But our daughter is 10, that’s what is holding us back
Raise your little and in 8 years see if you are still as passionate. It's a hard life style for sure
Nice one
That is awesome I'm actually thinking of doing the same thing because of debt, but I never lived in a truck so it's definitely going to be an adventure
Becoming debt-free is an amazing feeling. It's undescribable truthfully! Trucking isn't for everyone but I know when God put something on your heart and you want to accomplish something big... like becoming debt-free...it's doable! I say go for it! it's been an amazing adventure
DR! Big fan!
Hello Angela and Scott. My name is Ron. I work in ORLA Linehaul with Dan. We are/were your dispatchers when you were running out of Hagerstown. Awesome video, both of you have some interesting things to say. Great message and very inspiring. I just started my budget this month (better late than never) and this reinforces my thinking. Make sure to say hello next time your in Florida even though we have our doors closed due to Covid (we’re using the text-em-all app) Take care and as always be safe!
Thank you so much for leaving such a nice message. Its never to late to start a budget. Stay focused and dream what you want your future to become. You got this! We will be running peak starting in November maybe we'll see ya soon! Take care and stay safe
Hey guys. No need to thank me. He needed to be called out.
Y'all keep up the great work. Its refreshing to get useful.... viable information from folks that are living what they're preaching. My wife is preparing to retire from a long and fulfilling career as a school teacher and although she refuses to drive a truck I look forward to having her with me more often as opposed to just a couple of months during summer break.
Both of our kids are finally out of college and on their own..... Thank God...... and we are gaining on our debt at a pretty good clip.
Thank y'all for a glimpse of what our future holds. (Hopefully a future with fewer Macks the Slocaks)
TXCJAY thank you for your kind words! I'm so glad you are enjoying our crazy adventures! I'm excited for you and your wife for make more of your own adventures and enjoy each other's company more! Best of luck!

Hey guys love your channel. I’m new to team driving. I was wondering the best way to run. Do you guys run on recap hours or drive until the time is up. Would love a video on this or some info. Thanks keep it up guys
Welcome to team driving! Hopefully you'll find our channel helpful. Especially for eating healthy and sleeping better in the road!
We do have a video about hours check it out ruclips.net/video/gW_Q7tkQNP0/видео.html
Been debt free for my whole life, bought a 2015 Cascadia with cash and enjoying the self employed life! 440K miles on my truck now.
Andrey Banyuk way to go! You're killing it in life! That's exciting
Angela Griffin the truck pays for itself in a 1-1/2 yrs to get your money back. After that it provides ROI. They were $130K brand new at the dealer. You'll probably be generating 250K per year gross and make deductions after. It's a profitable business. I'm also a big fan of Dave Ramsey!!
Andrey Banyuk there us definitely money to be made in trucking! I love Dave Ramsey's channel (132) on Sirius XM. If you don't already listen check it out.
Andrey B ... I’m returning to OTR here soon but as a Company Driver so not hitting that $250k mark but much lower risk. I’m assuming you are O/O. If so, how did you get into that aspect of Driving? Are you complete on your own or do you run if an organization of some kind? Thanks.
@@AndreyBanyuk how much are you netting on average per year? No offense but gross means nothing when not w2 employee.
Me and my new wife in July I’m 24 she will be 23 I’m looking to start in August and she will be coming with me. I’m excited for us to start saving money!!!!
James Phelps that's awesome! Congrats! I started my Trucking career at 22. by having a good job and mostly staying focused on finances it has allowed me and my husband to accomplish some pretty major goals in life. I wish you 2 the best of luck. Hopefully my channel can help you get your truck setup to make it as comfortable as possible
Angela Griffin I’m mainly going to show my wife this. We are currently taking Dave Ramsey as well!!
While you hang on that steering wheel 24/7 !!! Ill be riding my harley and sitting by the pool soaking my feet !!!! I did my time out there good luck !!!!! Lol
Ricky Harvey also time to hang up the keys as well!
Hi! New to you channel as of today. So do you have any advice for new graduates going into professional driving? Any would be helpful. Thank you William.
William England look into truck redeos. I have done truck redeos since I got my license. The skills and knowledge I learned from competing and the drive I would practice with have been key to my successful driving career. I've been driving for 10 yrs and have had no accidents! This won't get you a job but will help you become a great driver.
Hi William, nice to see you again!
The truth will set you free. It takes a lot of courage to make the breath taking decision. Both of you are driving? Wish my wife would do that. She has a back-breaking job. She makes good money, but it would be so much easier driving....
Yes we both drive. It was a hard decision to make about going in the road. When to go off and welllll now back on the road.
I honestly have been thinking of asking my girlfriend to go trucking with me. since we are young my plan was to get a head start in life by saving every penny. plus trucking with your partner really is a adventure i bet!
I say gooooooo for it! Share my channel with her and like us on fb. Feel free to ask any question that comes to mind. I would love to see more young ppl truckin
@@SimpleLivin I got a question, are there any downsides or tolls taken on your relationship with your partner while traveling the roads?
My wife and I are very interested in doing the same but don’t know the exact steps and best direction to go. How did you guys do the school process in obtaining ur cdl’s? How do you apply for a company as team drivers? Best companies to work as team drivers? Any info would be greatly appreciated
Great questions!!! We recently made some videos covering a large amount of information.

Do you have to get a LLC when owning your own truck? My husband and myself are looking into doing the team drive but are still trying to get information/details that come with the job. Taxes, llc's, insurance...
Unfortunately I don't know much in that area! We are company drivers
Do you guys work on 12-hour shifts? I'm a team drivers well and heard that's the way to go but I'm trying to figure out which time zone to go off of etc for the daily alarms/switch
Check this video of ours it'll answer must of the question. Next Fridays video will talk about time zone changes. So stay tune!
My husband is at the end of his training for a company trucker. We have been thinking about me learning and eventually going out as a team. I wondering if that’s too much for our age. He will be 53 and I’ll be 49. Just wanting to change up our careers. What is your thoughts?
Great thoughts and questions. Do you have Facebook or Instagram? It's makes chating a lot easier. We know many ppl that have and are starting their trucking careers at your age
Why are you not buckled up? Things can happen. Be safe. My wife and I are completely debt free. It's amazing we can do what we like to do it's great. Thx for listening.
Thanks for watching, committing on many videos and your concern for our safety. Your concern about why I'm not wearing a seat belt. Well we drive teams. Our truck typically is moving about 20-22 hours outta 24 hours. After sitting in the driver seat for 11 hours and hundreds of miles... you just wanna be comfortable. We rarely have time to relax. We also never wanna be fake even for the sake of a video. We want people to see the reality of trucking and be transparent. Also the seatbelt law hasn't been a law all that long. And in most states you cant be pulled over.
@@SimpleLivin i understand about drive time i was a driver. Sorry if I offended you. I will try not to comment as much.
@@shoey64 no worries you didn't offend me. Just wanted to explain our why. We get the question alot. Please feel free to comment regularly. We love making friends!
What company would you recommend to start with for someone who has no cdl. I'm 22 years old married and have a 3yo. Struggling badly moving place to place right now
Stay tune for next week's video. I will be covering this topic.
Can u talk about how u played the house off from trucking like your husband I have been driving for 18 years local.
We would love to share about how we played off our hours. The #1 is a budget! A very strict one at that. We lived off of only a portion of our income.
Just paid cash for a townhouse, and now have two properties - no debt. Ironic part here is that once one becomes debt free - after awhile of savings you can still have gadgets, and things, etc. And, money in the bank. Just have to stay away from credit, and be patient, and financial and spiritual life gets better. Now a days I buy small things on Paypal credit - just to have the fun of stringing paypal along no interest for six months. And, you know you are costing paypal money because they start uping your payments. The do not like it when you use them, but oh boy how they will use you.
Congratulations on your success! Keep up the great work! And keep messing with the trolls... lol
Your doin better than you deserve ;)
Even on our worst day we are better then we deserve!
🌹🌹🌹👋👋🇺🇸love
it's so much better when you do it with someone
Its nice having a team mate but there are ups, downs and deep sacrifice of things like privacy and alone time.
Are you owner/operators? What is the difference between company, leasing and independent as far as earning opportunities?
We drive for a contractor through FedEx Ground. We really enjoy it. I'll make a video about the differences and benefits
I love being a debt free truck driver.
Congratulations on you accomplishments driver! Keep on doing what your doing.... you're killin it!
Just wondering what kind of GPS u guys use?
We actually just use a Garman GPS for cars in sometimes Google maps in satellite view.
Does the garmen show bridge clearances
@@laurencemathewriggs8023 if you get the trucker edition then yes
I have NO debt though I have no money anyway because I don't make much. It sucks! I don't have enough road exp to get a good job yet.
IAmSuperPerfect how much road experience do you have?
just getting into it... 8/ But I had to start somewhere! I've been studying the business very deeply for the last 6 months. I have my permit, Hazmat & tanker endorsements. 58
Looking for a company that won't beat me up and sweep me out the door when their done.
IAmSuperPerfect I wish you the best. It takes at least 1-3yrs experience for find a good driving job. You may check with some FedEx Contractors.
How the hell does one get 230k in debt? Wow. Glad you shed that weight. If your into Dave Ramsey, you should check out some documentaries on the federal reserve bank, and who it's owners are.
That figure includes a house, cars, motorcycles and so on
Ok...so you paid off the house and all the other stuff , mind you that I coming to the game late , what about payments on the truck ?
We drive for a contractor... So he's the one making the payments on it not us! Yay to that lol
5 years ago I was 5
that 50% number is not 100% true, I mean it is but it counts all divorces. If you just count first-time marriages then the number goes down to like 20-30% I don't remember the number, but it goes down for people that can make it past the 5-year mark I think.
Which truck you have???
A 2018 Volvo vnl 780
Congratulations on being debt free do you own the truck
Thank you! No we don't own the truck. We work for a contractor thru FedEx Ground
Simple Livin thanks for the information
the new American dream
Being debt free does feel like a dream!
I like Dave Ramsey, get your seat belt on, that’s a big ticket.
Don Godwin yes it is a big ticket.... and not to safe but you know after sitting in that driver seat 10-11hrs you just wanna more around.
You sold the bikes?! Sacrilege!
Billy Ray it wasn't easy but a small price to become debt free.
1st piece of advice to single young men entering it.
Keep it in your pants. It won’t be enough to keep her around when you are on the road.
And why pay for life on a planning fail? Save money for a home … cash… save money for schooling…. Cash… find and pursue a plan B. Do it all and find out where in the country you want to find a mate and settle in. If you do this correctly and also chunk away 401 k or at least IRA max while away, historically you may be very well off by 45. No bills and possibly trade fields to be a family man everyday, or, have trucking as leverage in everything you do.
🤔hmmm sounds like the plan I Angela a single 22 year old female decided to take 15 years ago... I met my hubby Scott thru trucking! By age 40 I will be sitting realllllll pretty!🤯 I some how figured this out on my own!
@@SimpleLivin i already quit the game. But am lucky in a new job not necessarily trined up to leave. That being said, had I started where you did I would have been better off. I tried to do the american traditional life and it costs more.
I should have been more forward to Trucker Joanne from chicago I met off I 70 at Denny’s years ago. I thought she was just a pretty blond local until she exited with me, but by then I figured it would creep her out if I hit on her because if she declined any advance…. She no longer has an escape to her truck, she would know I could see where she goes.
We spoke of where I lived and she said she would love to live in the area and willing to look. I was like wow. We could roll out for a month and then home for ten days and hit europe or something every month, and still save!!!
Why aren't you wearing a seatbelt?
explorer always someone that says your not wearing your seat belt, you didn't check your gun for safety you didn't do this this u didn't do that.. mind your business you don't know them why so concerned their adults worry about yourself... make sense?
Thanks for stinking up for me! God Bless You!
NO seat belt cuz when you spend 120 hours a week in a moving truck and on average 10 hours in the drive seat you just wanna be able to move around and be comfortable ....
and 2 just cuz we have a camera in front of our faces doesn't mean we are gonna be fake and pretend to always wear our seat belt. Just keeping it real!
Getting debt free is important. I hope you got out of debt by now.
We had off our house and became debt free 3 years ago. But were giving an amazing opportunity to buy our dream property. A cabin on 8 acres in the woods so we sold our house and put all the money and then some towards the new house. We financed a 1/3 of what the house is worth with plans to have it paid off in 4-5 years.
@@SimpleLivin awesome!!! It pays to plan ahead. I live out in the country with my parents, more people are moving out here fleeing the city life probably because they finally see the hand writing on the wall. Getting out before everyone else has advantages. Homesteading is a totally different mindset, probably working harder than most people are used to, but it has its rewards. People having to build now are stuck with the high prices of materials.
@@SimpleLivin I hope you’re close to paying that property off. I suspect interest rates are going to skyrocket because of government spending.
We are land locked with a national park. We feel blessed for that! Many people can't understand the blessing and life style
@@SimpleLivin nice. We are close to state on two sides of the subdivision we live in and BLM wilderness to the south. Yes being up against National forest is a blessing.
I hope Dave Ramsey gave you something for this.
Dave doesn't even know we exist. Just sharing the good news so others can be blessed
@@SimpleLivin He should know about you guys! You're an example to so many people. I think he would love to here from you. Just my opinion.
@@mikejw58 that means so much! Thank you! Maybe we will send him an email
Is it dangerous on the road with hi-jackers or thugs at truck stops? Trucking looks cool but its totally consuming all your time, right? Good for you guys though to give up your lifestyle and adopting another, but it looks like a big sacrifice.
5th Man yes there are times I feel uneasy. Especially with how bad human trafficking has become in the United States. It is a very big sacrifice and change in life. But the short term sacrifice made it so we became debt free. So that long term we can have more freedom!
I haven't seen any of that...the crime anyway. But yes its a lifestyle change. It requires total dedication.
I KNOW,HE'S PIMPN YOU OUT
