20 year AZ Driver Trainer here, excellent pace and demonstration. I'd love to see you do more of the basics for new drivers, maybe how to be safe around docks - talk about the dock lock, red/green light etc. Keep up the great work!
I work in the shipping department at my work and I’ve always had to ask them to slide their tandems because it makes it easier going in and out of the truck when they are all the way back… It’s common sense to me how it transfers the weight but I just wanted to see how y’all do it… I’ve been thinking about getting my CDL’s… I’ve got a couple friends that own their own trucks so I could probably get a job with them and not have to be an over the road trucker… Thanks for showing the process. I don’t get many truck drivers as purdy as you, but it’s always nice to see a pretty girl jump out of the truck…😉 Be safe out there sweetie…🇺🇸💪🏼
It's always a good idea to get in the habit of checking to make sure your tandems will slide when you first pick up the trailer, wether you think you are going to need them or not. When you get to your pickup or drop point, that is not the time you want to discover that they will not slide. If they will not slide at the time of pickup get in touch with dispatch but DO NOT TAKE THAT TRAILER. Companies and drivers will overlook this because it is not a DOT requirement that they have to slide for you to get down the road.
This was very helpful!! I didn’t know what tandems looked like, let alone anything about how to slide them… thank you for this information! ❤ Very easy & straightforward information.
Thanks for taking my place in the lane. 0/0 for 25 years. Teach them Right! Tip: if tandems are having a problem slide on dry rails pour some water on them for lubricity.
I really appreciate this video you made as it helped me a lot especially when I had to do it for a live load. I watched your video on how to do it. I never learned this in CDL school and was used during my mentorship but I did not learn how to do it on my own but did learn tips on shifting the weight!
Thank you for the video!! You explained and demonstrated it very well. My experiences with a tractor-trailer has been delivering with a dolly and ramp. I’ve never had to slide tandems until today. My current employer never showed me. Well today I was going to have to slide them to be legal with the weight. I practiced in a parking lot right never getting loaded and I had no issues. I hope you have more videos or you’re planning on doing more. You’re awesome!
@@mattgameplay6477 3 business days, I’m driving now with a contractor. Overall, depending on how fast you can get everything done. It should take 1-2 weeks, does that help?
Beautiful video. Well illustrated. You should be an instructor. Your clarity in explaining things and demonstrating are superb. A lot of people only have papers that made them an instructor; you my dear has the gift. Good luck and be safe.

How do you know how far back or forward to go while you are in the tractor? What keeps you from reversing too far and the tandems sliding all the way off? Similarly if you need to adjust them say three notches buy not all the way back of forward, how do you know from in the cab when you have moved them those three notches and not overshot?
Good question! The tandems won’t slide all the way off. It will stop by itself but just don’t be accelerating or reversing too hard. If you want to adjust them by just a few notches or a few feet, you would have to get out and check after making minor movements. This would be easier if you had someone to help you on the outside. Hope this helps!
a theoretical question for me but still a interesting concept. I had no idea trailer wheels could be adjusted like that at all, ingenious engineering. Thank you for replying and for doing the important work you do for us all!@@briatrucking

I’m so glad it helped! Congrats on getting your CDL!
Are you serious? I'd put in some sort of complaint so others wouldn't have to
That is dangerous that you didn’t learn about this in school yet they still gave you a pass 🤯
Yepp fasho didn’t
@@Sight2Beholdthe school doesn’t have to teach you this it’s not on the CDL test… whatever company you end up with should teach you this
Hands down this is one of the best vids on RUclips in regards to sliding tandems
