Cant wait to get this. Will be using as a monitor for gigs. Using currently 2 SOUNDBOKS 3 for PA speakers paired with 2 RCF 708.AS MK2’s subs. Attached to my peavy 10AT external mixer and using the Pioneer DDJ Rev 7 for a controller. Love the set up!
Love your reviews. Disappointed this doesn't have XLR input but I understand this is centered around being a bluetooth speaker and not DJ. I have decided on getting the soundboks 3. I have EV Ekx 15 as mains and 15 ZLX as backup along with 12 inch battery powered american audio speakers. I think these soundboks 3 will be a nice upgrade to my AA12 battery speakers. Much more power and better bass. Plus I can rock them out at the river and not worry about water
Awesome review in great detail. Can you hook up two of them with a stereo tip in an iPhone and a mono L-R plugged to the SOUNDBOKS Aux? And will it sound good on the back seat of a car? Thanks and stay cool👍🏾
recently i did a dance meeting outside with a sony xv500, another day another guy played the music from the soundbok go. - soundboks a goes louder - soundboks is smaller, lighter and more easily portable - soundvboks go has Skaa - sony xv500 does sound a little better, more pleasant and deeper bass - sony xv500 is higher, so better if it has to stand on the ground - sony has light effects includes - sony has 2 mic ins - sony has more other speaker to choose from to pair up JBL120 is similar to sony xv500, but goes louder if running on battery, lower battery life though, but exchangebale battery.
oh, and regarding latency, xv500 has an aux in with close to 0 latency, bluetooth latency is relatively good/low for bluetooth, but it is noticeable. Ok for video watching, but too much for e.g. digital piano
this latency issue threw me off so much when I was holding some beach parties on a jbl speaker. due to it I decided to build a battery operated pa speaker setup utilising a battery generator an efficient tap 2.1 amp and high efficiency tops and subs (99db/1w and 101db/1w) dual top sub combo with the subs at 4 ohms on a serie cable for 8 ohm at the sub output works like a charm just a bit of a hassle to setup haha
For a large outdoor music events/parties (200 people) do you think 4 of these go's would do the job. Or would it be best to stay with the Gen 3s ? Curious on your opinion
Im torn between the soundboks go and the EV Everse 8 speaker. I would be using the speaker as a booth monitor for small DJ gigs and as a portable speaker for leisure/hearing music on a quality speaker. Please help 😅 its impossible to find a comparison lol
There are also portable subwoofers nowadays from manufacturers such as Diamondboxx, Carvin Audio and Yorkville. I haven’t seen much news on them much less heard them in person/Europe. I’d love to see a review of yours on these! (Though I expect the weight and battery life might disappoint a little?)
If you do a group test, can you put it up against the Bose S1 Pro. I brought the Bose a few months ago to use as a DJ monitor on gigs, & I've been really really pleased with it. I'd be interested to see if if this gets anywhere near it. I also managed to find the Bose for approx £460 online, so considerably cheaper than this.
its more self-contained and rugged I find it preferable to 1 or 2 Bose in their rucksacks plus all the wires (ok i know the Bose is battery powered too). I've used the Bose's for House Parties/Pool Parties and very good they are but i am liking the SB Go
Damn missed this live but just caught up! Didn't think there would be a livestream with it still kind of being Easter holidays! 9/10 kilos in one hand I hear you say - maybe they are trying to tempt you to get 2 to level the load 😃 I think you will need to bring back Balcony Beats On Tour with the campervan to properly test this out over the summer! 😉😉 Looks great and I'm sure it will be good for garden or small beach parties but the price 600 squid - no thanks. Can only afford this by risking playing a squid game 😨
Would you recommend the Go to be added to a setup with two SB Gen3? I'm thinking about it to add this to my setup for a little bit bigger venues or as monitor speaker? Happy to hear some thoughts about it.
The EQ can make quite a difference, but we struggled to make it sound as punchy as the Soundboks 3 - not surprising in some aspects because it's a smaller speaker.
@@digitaldjtips and in pairing mode with soundbox?? Let's say we have aux in and two soundboks in pairing host/join mode. What's the delay there ? Let's say i press play/pause really quickly
@@digitaldjtips yall complaining about price🤣🤣🤣 you have ti remember, a battery comes with it, and a battery cost 150, so 549 is what the soundboks go cost, which I find is a very good price, the go is super worth it if you already have a gen3, buying one when you don't have any other soundboks products though.....that's where it starts getting iffy
@@digitaldjtips Its a biggy in the sense of comparing to Bose S1 or JBL EON, both having ample inputs .. when using as a solo performer it would have been handy to bluetooth the music and have use of a mic at the same time .. much like you can do with the Soundboks 3 .... The work-around for me is using a small USB powered mixer. As a Steel drum soloist performer and DJ, I now connect to the GO with the mixer (I have ipad / controller/mic connected hardwired) and have 2 soundboks 3 units remotely located. The SKAA facility is amazing!
i've got load of battery powered devices MPC Live 2 Denon Prime Go Sennheisser wireless connectors some (apologies) Teenage Engineering stuff. I fear they will all fail one day. The fact that this battery is seperate and accessible is a plus point for me but I understand i'm still at risk of failure to support/ inbuilt obsolescence. The AIAIAI moniters are described as modular / upgradable/ replaceable (oh and the Ableton Push standalone) but i guess no more or less than the Soundboks in practice. Lets hope they all do well and endure and its not just a gimmick.
This is probably the best review I've ever watched on RUclips. You are killing it man!!!
Thanks Eduardo!

Any idea/ feelings when your roundup video is coming out? I'm really struggeling which one I should buy. Great video btw!
Not got all the speakers yet so not sure yet

Yeah that should work
Would you prefer the Mackie Thump Go or this for use?
Great review!.. Crazy that it can only do half volume when plugged in?!?!
That is a bit strange, agreed.

How are the mids compared to the soundboks 3? For example with rock music or whatever you used to highlight mids.
I think the Soundboks 3 is punchier
Thanks for the videos Phil!
You’re welcome thanks for taking part!

get 2 gen 3s instead
I agree, Gen 3s for pro use.
Thank you for the review !
You are welcome, I hope it helped.
Does the Soundbok Go have an XLR input at all to connect a microphone or a wireless receiver??
Im torn between the soundboks go and the EV Everse 8 speaker. I would be using the speaker as a booth monitor for small DJ gigs and as a portable speaker for leisure/hearing music on a quality speaker. Please help 😅 its impossible to find a comparison lol
We've not heard the EV, but we've never heard a bad speaker from them either.
Can the Soundboks go do karaoke / have a mic attached?
Best to go for the bigger Soundboks, which can do that.
Can you wear it like backpack 🎒?? I hate side strap!! Makes walking a pain hitting your side as you walk 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️

Is this a good speaker for the beach? what about sand protection?
No idea about sand protection.
Can be used for a monitor?
Yes
Hay Phil, do you remember that you asked for this soundbok go in your soundbok 3 review. Your words were soundbok mini
I do!
@@digitaldjtips When i see this video I was thinking Phil got his wish, sort of in a way. Thank you for the review. See you next week.

how does it compare with other classical PA 10” speakers that have the same price point or even less expensive?
We will be doing a group review soon, Francesco.
I’d like to see this head to head with the Mackie Thump Go!
@@jibbajabbaguy The mackie thump go has an 8” woofer. This has a 10” woofer so it should win

Yeah that could work as a monitor 👍
Is the speaker sound and play very loud
Yes
$50 for a strap is absolutely ridiculous
Agreed it is a bit steep
Should be included. What were they thinking?
I predict strap will be free at holiday sales
Yeah, it would have made way more sense for them to just charge $749 and include the strap for free. 🙄
When is Soundboks4 coming out?
No idea!
My SOUNDBOKS GO doesn’t seem to connect to my controller 😞
Use the minijack socket
I wanted one but I couldn't afford it. I got the JBL Boombox 3 on sale for the $350
Great!
Is it possible to blow the sound box go?
I doubt it the DSP would stop that
But what if I blast insane ear rape bass boosted beats?
Why have the batteries been on back order forever? Any ideas to get one ordered
No idea, sorry!
Because we locked down the entire world for a bad flu and grinded worldwide production and shipping to a near halt.
How well does adjusting the EQ do in modifying the sound? Does lowering that upper bass noticeably improve the sound?
The EQ can make quite a difference, but we struggled to make it sound as punchy as the Soundboks 3 - not surprising in some aspects because it's a smaller speaker.
I am a bit into DJing and got the Soundboks Go. Maybe i am just stupid but i noticed some latency. :(
Only if you use Bluetooth. You mean when wired, too?
@@digitaldjtips yes. I am using an Pioneer DDJ-400 ans connected it with wire. But its ok. It is still a great and powerfull speaker!

How much louder is the soundboks 3?
Is it much diference from 121db to 126db?
Don’t read too much into those number. The 3 is a lot louder, it has more speakers and more amplifiers.
so whats the delay???!
On SKAA Pro, negligible.
