- Okay.. This Mitas E07+ Tire Review was pretty eye opening. The E07 (the regular one...) has a crazy cult following and it is regarded as "The Best 50/50 Adv Tire"... This E07+ (the PLUS is NEW) tire... was not as impressive as the hype lead me to believe. Will it wear like iron? Yeah, probably. Is it a good compromise tire... Probably. But what did it do REALLY WELL? Well... Noting really. There you have it... it is a 50/50... Half Good Everywhere tire.

Best tyre I had for the KLR so far. It took a good couple hundred km to break in but once it's broken in it really hookes up nicely. It also likes warmer weather like here in South Africa, Australia etc. Give the tyre time to rub in properly and you'll be amazed. I recommend it for warmer climates🙌
Thanks for your real world feedback!
Maybe that was the case with my set. I had lost confidence on the tires and was thinking of going back to my worn out pirellis scorpions. Until I aired down to 20 psi front and 28 rear (21/18)
We’re having extreme difficulty getting adventure/touring tires here in the Philippines and these were the only one’s available (didn’t even consider them)
I run these on my 1190 S definitely the best tire for the 19/17 wheels. The front wants to wash out in the sand but every tire this size will want to do that. Love the reviews keep it up!
Nice!
Was great to hear someone confirm the same experiences, I had with limited off-road experience. I changed to the Mitas E09.
Right on! I LOVE the E10 Dakar tires!
Great honest review! Thanks for you unbiased thoughts on these, I appreciate not having to read between the lines. Sticking with the Trailmax rear 'till it wears out (I DON'T like it on wet paved), then back to 804/805s as they work best for the wet riding I do in Northwest Washington.
Trailmax rear on my V-strom650 has 3,200 miles on it and has used 1.7 mm tread, it's going to last at least 10,000 miles and works great for me on all but wet paved if this info helps anyone.
Glad it was helpful to you and I am sure that your feedback will be helpful to others. Thanks!!!
I swear you know more about motorcycle tires than anyone on youtube. Awesome video.
Lots of hands on playing with them coupled with lots of seat time and soil sampling ;() Thanks for watching!
I’ve been 3 seasons on e07+... in EU they are cheap and best price/performance tire. I had no problems on any forest road or highway... They are slipping, but i think its my hand not tire... 😂🤙
Great point!
I should have watched this video before I bought mine... Two weeks ago and put 1300km on them...I found out the same thing on loose gravel, a lot of "sidewinding" and not great traction going up hill with rocks. Used rain mode onthe 1090r and it helped. I run tkc80 front and e07+ rear. I had the MOTOZ Trac Adv before... No contest the MOTOZ are amazing. Just subscribed!
Thanks for sharing! It is sad to have to run "rain mode" to keep the tire in check in the loose stuff. That chevron or check pattern in the back is not my friend. Thus the reason I like the GPS tire in the Mostly Off Raod format which is like claws! The GPS is more comparable to the E07+ in my opinion. The Adventure tire is a better off-road tire in my opinion.
Fantastic tire review Kyle! You are a blessing to the ADV Motorcycling community. Do these tires have any advantages on the street over a set of Anakee Wild tires? Looking for a 60/40 ish option for my F800GS. Greetings from Germany :)
Thanks for watching! The E07 feels more planted on the street but the Anakee Wild tires have never let me down. They work really really well.
Great review. I have E07s on one of my bikes. I know how to keep the rear from breaking traction - just put them on a Kawasaki Versys X300 - not enough power to break them loose in almost any scenario! ;>). Seriously, the only place I've found them wanting on this mini-add bike was in deep sand in Moab. BTW, thanks for all you tire reviews, especially the long comparison you did some time ago. Based on that review, I'll probably put TrailMax Missions in my Vstrom 650XT. I live in the country in SW Colorado and do a lot to dirt roads (5 miles just to get to pavement from my home). Thanks again!!!
Ha! Ha! Ha! Right!? I rode the Vstrom 650 during the press launch of the TrailMax Mission tire and I was impressed. I was hanging with the big 1100 and 1290 motorcycles in the corners but they would pull away in the straights. Good bike and a great tire.
Appreciate your in-depth tire reviews. I will give up some longevity for improved off-road performance and reasonable road performance so not sure I would consider these.
Thanks for watching!
E-07+ fantastic tyres, you really should run them in before you run a test. very good review thanks
Yes. Run-in is super important. On these back to back tests I don’t have hundreds miles to scrub them in properly. I have found the rocks & sand wash do as great job at getting it done quickly.
The eE07+ is generally considered a downgrade by most who have ridden both the original E07 and the E07+. It seems the + was primarily redesigned to hold up to high horsepower bikes better for long miles, but generally wears faster and has worse traction off road than the old e07
Yes, that is what we have learned too.
Running my 3rd set on my BMW thumper now. #weaponofchoice 🤙💪
Right on!
Good that you answer everyone! I have tiger 850 sport. I know not intended for off road. I have my reasons. changed out Mich adv for mitas e07 dakar front and rear today. rode to work. Terrible vibration decelerating to 29mph until 17mph. Took to dealer and re-balanced rear. Had to add alot of weight 78 grams! Told me to try and let them know. Either bad tire, or too heavy. Brought tire home, mounted again, rode up street. It still has that vibe, just way less pronounced. Could be the front needs a re-do as well. Hell I dont know, rides like my KLR now LOL. The michelin adv was dope on the road!
Yes, the Anakee Adventure and the TKC70 Rocks are the smoothest running of all the knobbier than street tires. The E07 should roll smoother than you are describing but will vibrate due to the blocks. Re-mounting and re-balancing does work wonder in some tires. I’d you have the opportunity, break the beads, rotate the tire and re-bead. Put it on a static balancer. If it moves a lot, break the beads again and rotate 1/4, re-bead and check again. Once you find the least amount of rotation, balance it and it should be smooth. Good luck!
@@manybikes thank you Kyle for responding. And thanks for your review.
@@dancheatham5106 yes Sir!
Kyle! I’ve watched all your videos from that other place and now at moto city. I am new to ADV riding and have 2000 miles on a KTM 890. Love it! The TKC 80 rear is about shot. I ride in Colorado on Jeep trails and mountain twisties to get there, of course. I ride two up a lot. Im looking at the RallZ tires. Would you A) recommend that tire for great dirt performance over any other tire and B) would you use the matching front and rear? Or do a different front. I’ve seen the 25 min long 2020 ADV tire shootout video you did. Awesome. Thanks for that!
Sweet! Thanks for watching! LOVE the 890!!! The RallZ tire is my personal Go-To tire and it is one of the best out there at the moment and will be PERFECT In Colorado! The matched set is good. If you don't like it for some reason you can always pick up a different front to suite your needs. Here is a sneak peek at my video which will go live Monday as part of a new series... Motoz Monday. It answers the mismatch front question: ruclips.net/video/m7-MFLxv29I/видео.html Thanks for your support. - Kyle
Thank you, a really great review and confirms my suspicions. I thought I had found my go to tyre in the E07+, but with limited exposure to other AT tyres I assumed the overzealous rear wheel wiggle under power was normal. I also ran my first E07+ only on the rear while I finished up my OEM Karoo 3 on the front, this combo possibly masked the issues inherint to the E07+ combo. Having just returned from some muddy riding, nothing extreme, certainly nothing I would expect to leave you feeling like the wheels could slide out at any moment, I am now convinced the E07+'s need to go. The front end at any moment redirects or simply wiggles excessively for the mud being traversed. As for the back end, like I say, I thought it was normal behavior under power. I have a little hill I ride, the first time I went up it was on my 850GSA with the E07+ combo, the bike went up veering left and right. When I got my 1250GSA it had the OEM "street" tyres (A41's), yet taking the same line the bike went up with the greatest of ease in a straight line. Only problem in South Africa is the limited tyre selection, so looks like I will be destined for TKC80's or Wild's or some mix and match for the kind of riding I enjoy. I do however like the limited road noise from the E07+ combo, the limited vibration, on road performance and dry pack riding offroad.
Great feedback! Yes... the sidewinder motion was really pronounced on these tires. They are the "Go To" for SO MANY Adv riders... but I am not a fan. The Motoz GPS tire in the rear and the Adv or DV tire up front will be one of the best performing longest lasting tire combos in my opinion. Or ... the Dunlop TrailMax Mission Front tire with the Motoz GPS in the rear. That combo is great.
good review. thanks. I'm on the e07's at the moment but have little to zero experience of 50-50's. ive just purchased the e09 to do some more on dirt and mud in particular. Have you reviewed the e09?
Glad to help! I have not yet run the E09, but I love the E10 Dakar!
Hi Kyle, I have exactly those on my 2018 1290 S. Adv. R, overall they are good, my only complains are with the on road front noise after the first 1000~1500 miles at mild speeds (running with 36~38 psi), and also I had to change my first front tire because it started loosing air from the bead in multiple places. After they're gone I'm going to try something different, maybe the DUNLOP Trailmaxx or the MOTOZ Tractionator GPS in the rear and Adventure in the front...what do you think about that combination?. Thanks for another great review video man!
Dude... The Adventure Front and GPS Rear combo is what I ran on my 2008 R1200GSA for over 12k miles. It was a fantastic set-up that will not disappoint. Just air down when it gets dirty and you will love them. If you want, let me know when you are ready to purchase and I can get a set to you. Cheers, Kyle
Kyle you made me feel a bit better about my riding of my old 1190R and current 1290R in sand. The front seems to want to tuck in at times in the sand and thankfully the only tumble was about the same as yours, no damage. I can't figure out if I just suck, or it is just a big bike in soft sand, or a tyre with too much pressure up front or a combination. I have settled on a MOTOZ Tractionator GPS rear for my needs after a lot of KMs, but still searching for that unicorn front. Thanks for the video.
Awesome! Yes... big bikes in the soft stuff can be challenging. Tires do make a huge difference. Some I have tested would NEVER tuck the front end... whereas these E07+ tires... that is all they wanted to do. The GPS tires are great. I like them in the rear with the a more aggressive front tire in the front. Thanks for watching! - Kyle
@@manybikes Maybe you can point out what I missed in your "2020 Adventure Tire Shootout by ChapMoto.com | 25 Top Performing ADV or Dual Sport Tires" test results. I am always asking myself if the results for each tyre are for a front and rear combo for a particular tyre type/brand. I assume that is the case during the testing, so how do I separate front and the rear results, often the rear tyre does its job in the same terrain differently from the front. In my case, I can compromise with the rear being not perfect if I get good mileage (Australian prices are pretty high), but want a front end that deals with loose gravel and sand even if I replace it more often. Thanks
@@VonSutho Yes, I hear you loud and clear. I too run a "dirtier" front tire than rear tire if the rear will be a more mild longer lasting tire. For example the TKC70 Rocks in the rear I run the TKC80 up front. Or with the Motoz GPS or Heidenau K60 Scout I do not like those front tires... I would run a TKC80 or a RallZ or at the least a Dunlop TrailMax Mission. HOWEVER... when doing the Tire Test the manufactures want the specific tire that is paired front and rear to be run... and I discussed them as I felt them and rated them as "a set" or a pair of tires. That being said, I talked about how the front tire felt on the pavement, in the sand, in the twisties... pretty much everywhere, especially the downhill sections of the hill climbs. What are you currently running?
@@manybikes Hey thanks for the responses, and your time. On the 1190R I ran a set of Tractionator Adventures front and rear after the TKC80s wore out, similar conditions to what you guys test on actually. Long run out to Birdsville QLD and got good traction and decent kms, the front did wear unevenly and started to feel unbalanced as they wore down. The Tractionator rear got about 1/2 the kms as the front. On the 1290R I only got 3250km on the TKC80 rear and switched to a GPS rear which I am very happy with as a great compromise tyre. The front is still the original TKC80, which is ok in the sand and gravel and uninspiring in bull dust (not sure what that is called in the US), but I don't think anything on a 1290 would be inspiring in the bull dust. I went through your great test again and am torn between the Anakee Wild or the GPS front, both have pros and cons.
@@VonSutho go with the Anakee Wild in the front. The Wild is the best handling of the knobby tires. We call bull dust “talc”, “fesh fesh” or moon dust. It’s a bear to ride in!
I just got these tyres on my KTM 390. adventure.
I was super impressed by the stock Continental TKC 70's on road performance. I ride the Twisties quite hard and they performed flawless with full load on road.
Now having seen your review I am somewhat concerned riding these on road for touring around.
I am wondering if lowering the tyre pressure a bit if you think that this might help with the sliding around on road ?
I am mostly riding 2 up and couldn't get a different tyre for my bike Gere in the Philippines and would value your opinion and suggestions on how I can get more grip in the corners from these tyres on the bitumen roads.
Thanks, great review 👍
You will be okay if you don't push them too hard and make sure they are warm before hitting the corners hard.
I normally never air down my tires, but I use the E07 Drakar which are even harder than the Plus and I find airing down to mid 20's in the rear and the tire becomes alive and grips like no tomorrow and does not slide out when straight up. If you jumping from trail to road all day you may want to stay in your high 20's very low 30"s . As the tire side wall are very tough it's hard to notice if you have a flat.
Great feedback. I was running them at 30 psi so maybe should have been a little lower to get max performance.
@@manybikes just remember I run the Darkar which the side walls are much tougher than the standard 07 model
@@MTL_Rider Yes Sir!
Thanks.
You're welcome!
You've reviewed so many 50/50s... what do u consider your favorite go to? How about your favorite 80/20? I really enjoy my shinko 805s on the road and works great for me in the lose sand in fl
The Motoz RallZ are my favorite 50/50 as they are the most aggressive that let me ride the big bikes like a sport bike on the street. 80/20... Michelin Anakee Adventure or the Dunlop TrailMax Mission... OR NEW Fav the TKC 70 Rocks.
@@manybikes we 😍 your tire reviews! You should do favorite tires review! You're the go to for many of us!
Best rear tire I have tried, matching it with a TKC80 in front, I'm all set 😁
Great to hear!
E07+ rear and TKC80 front on my F800GS,works well for me also.
@@manybikes You got me to try a K60 on my 690, could not get a E07+ for that bike...it came with E07, not the +.
Did not like it too much, but it lasted pretty long, interesting to see if the K60 grips better on gravel.
The front stays TKC80 😁
Hi Kyle, Compared to the Michelin anakee wild, what of both give you more confidence asphalt and twistiest?
I’m between both for lot of gravel offroad and onroad in cold weather, maybe some days wet
Thanks.
I have found this tire and the Anakee Wild to excel in different areas. The wet weather of the Anakee Wild is great. It is a bit "odd feeling" on the pavement for a bit due to the sipped sidewalls of the lugs. Less rubber on the ground due to the very curved profile than many other 50/50 tires. I found it to do better than the E07 in deep sand and muddy situations. The E07 is more planted feeling on the road but is less aggressive of an off-road tire.
Hey Kyle, how would you compare the E-07 to the E-07+ to the Dunlop Trailmax Missions? Those are the ones I'm trying to decide between for my next set on the DR650. I want something that's decent on dirt but that can do highway miles, because I am at least 90 minutes away from trails, so I'm looking at 50/50 adventure kinda tires instead of something more dirt-focused like a D606.
Nice! I really do like the performance of the Dunlop Missions. I think the E07+ will be a tad more aggressive for the duration and it will most likely last a little longer too from what I have seen. Really can't go wrong with either!
Thanks Kyle! It's honestly hard not to go with the Dunlops based on your reviews, and it seems pretty well priced and long lasting, to boot 🙂
@@blessedbethecurse Dunlop did their homework and really did produce a really well done 50/50 tire, that’s for sure!
Hi Kyle, I have the E07 plus, no Dakar version for the rear as getting the Motoz tractionator tyre, both GPS and Adventure for the rear in stock for the KLR650 in Australia has been very difficult, but I am able to get the tractionator adventure front tyre. Do you reckon this combo of the tractionator adventure front and mitas rear would be better than the mitas E07 plus for both front and back?
How are Motoz tires tough to get in Australia? That is the birthplace! I myself am not a huge fan of the E07 tires but they have a CULT Following! I prefer the E10 myself.
@@manybikes not difficult in other sizes, just always sold out in the size I need for my KLR. 130 80 17. No gps, no adventure and no rallz. Now I've got the E07 on the back. Not a fan of the way if feels. If I can afford to later and stock becomes available for motoz rear, the E07 is gone
What air pressure do you recommend for motoz gps tires? There on a 1000 v strom. I'm currently running the factory pressure 36 and 40. Do you have a video on air pressure? Thanks so much
I run them at 36 to 42 psi on the street and air down to 20 - 22 off-road.
Hi Kyle, I love your reviews. As it comes to a 50/50 tire with as much miles as can be, would you prefer the Motoz Tractionator GPS or this Mitas e07(+) as a beter allrounder? Thnx.
Yes, absolutely... I choose the MotoZ GPS run in the Mostly Off Road direction with a Tractionator Adventure front. This is a mile eating combo that is really aggressive and is smooth on-road. Thanks for watching.
@@manybikes can u safely push hard in the twisties and scrape peg with this combo
🤔🤔 which one to prefer? The Mitas or the Motoz GPS? Thanks for all your reviews and opinions. Stay safe.
Of the two... I prefer the Motoz GPS. It is more predictable and more "off road" oriented with amazing mileage. Thanks for watching.
@@manybikes Thnx!
@@robhahn7422 my pleasure!
Did you buy the Dakar version (yellow stripe)?
Yes. These were Dakar.
Strange, I felt cornering on tarmac was good with my E-07+ tires. Better than any knobby.
Yes, I would agree better than a knobby... but I did not find them that great as compared to many other 50/50 options. It was a bit colder this day too... That might have played a role. Thanks for sharing your viewpoint, much appreciated.
How does it compare with the E09 rear tire?
Haven’t run the E09 yet... but I’d like to
How do you feel they compare to the motoz GPS tires?
I prefer the GPS better... There are cult followings for both tires though ;)
So pair it with a TKC80 front on my 1290 SAR?
Yeah, that would be a great combo!
I use tkc80 front and E07 plus dakar rear
The E12 front was great.
I think this tire has the same behavior as the Heidenau K60 Scout. Last long and can do a dirt pad now and then, but definitely not the right tire for loose stuff such as mud and sand.
I totally agree.
Hey NoostNL, I currently have Battlewings 501 and 502 underneath my Tiger, but looking for a more 50/50 tire to ride the TET in the Netherlands. Would these E-07's suffice for the job, or would you recommend something more agressive? I also happen to use the motorbike for commuting, so I really need a tire for touring as well.
@@holidayfartcruise254 I would say you could use a e07/k60 kind off tire but there are a lot of deep sand parts. I think they struggle a bit there, but it can be done. Especially the front of those would dig in. Back tire you can work around.
Otherwise you could look at the Shinko 804/805 for example. Definitely more grippy but lesser miles (at least for the back tire) front seems to hold on very well. Back seems to do about 8k, front can last about 12k if I would guess.
Maybe you can do a combo, like a k60 back and a 804 front.
@Kyle Bradshaw I'm not sure we're talking about the same tire, "The Best 50/50 Adv Tire" hype is around e07, not e07+ or dakar, the e07+ is actually 60/40 (road/dirt) and I can say is definitely worse off-road. Cheers
Yes... sounds like we are talking about different tires. I have been told the "Original e07 tires" are the best tires out there... In this video I was running the e07+ Dakar.
@@manybikes I was under the impression that the plus version is the same as the E07 but only for the bigger bikes hence Plus.
Tire pressure is too high. Probably around 25 psi to 28 max in dirt/rocks.
Tire needs to flex to get decent traction, high pressure takes that away.
Hard rubber equals lower pressure to get some flex, like softer tires with more pressure.
Take at least 10psi out (if not more).
Yes, that would have helped for sure!
Not the most glowing review to watch after literally ordering an E07+ for the rear and a Dakar for the front lol. Hopefully, I like them, I'm totally new to the adventure segment and at 5k my stock Karoo 3's are almost done. I don't think I have enough skill yet to really criticize a tire, lol. I make way more mistakes than the problems the tire could give me.
These are the GoTo Holy Grail tire or many ADV riders. They do a good job and my job was to "push them to their limits" and I found them. Does not make them bad tires... they wear like IRON and do pretty darn good nearly everywhere. You will be just fine and you will probably love them.
E10 better?
I liked the E10 much better for my style of riding than the E07+ but it did wear out REALLY REALLY fast. That was the biggest downfall of the E10
@@manybikes Ok, thanks
It's not easy for any adv tire to handle a bike with 150 horses, specially a KTM power delivery...
It’s a handful, that’s for sure. Some tires do better than others… that’s for sure too.
Please upgrade your audio equipment
Yes Sir!
I had the E07 dakar on my AT and really liked the rear. I got 14k miles out of it. The front E07 dakar really sucked IMO. Tracked weird in rain grooves and ran poor in dirt. I changed to the + rear and didnt like it at all compared to the dakar. It stepped out as you show and low speed on harder surfaces I could really feel the lugs. Kerthump, kerthump, kerthump!
If intetested here is the dakar rear on my 690.
