Have to concur, I’ve got a set on a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro and the flexibility these tyres give is awesome. I couldn’t get a set of Trailmax Missions so keen to see your review, but there will have to be serious benefits to move me away from the Mitas tyres now.
Hello Mark, the only benefit the TMM has is cost, and some longevity. I may argue the front is a smoother ride as well. But the Mitas is still King! - Frank
Thanks for the review! Watch out for the Dunlop Trail Mission tyres, as in my opinion they are not 50/50 tyres (I know they are advertised as such), watched my buddy on a 1100 Africa Twin struggle just as much as I did on Pirelli Scorpion AT (70/30 tyres). We did rock gardens (big and small), loose dirt, compacted dirt, muddy rocks, shallow mud with a hard base - we're both average riders on Africa Twin with Dunlop Trail Mission / KTM 950 with Pirelli Scorpion AT - similar results. Ride safe!
Hello, I am not a fan of the TMM on larger bikes. It treated me well on the 390 but was slippery on cold pavement with my VSTrom. I have a TMM front on my 790 and it's been a great front tire. - Frank
Thank you! I was looking for new tires for my Vstrom 650. It doesnt have so much suspension but my intention is just can do offroad even slowly.
I like the E07 tires. The only issue I found with the front was sometimes it would slip just a bit when off road. They were rock solid on the street. I never noticed any noise from either, however I do use earplugs. I think putting the E07 or E07+ on the rear with a TKC80 on the front is a really good setup.
Hello Wade, I agree on the front. I replaced it with an AX-41 (ADV Matt suggested it) I whole heartedly feel it's the best front tire available today! Pavement, sand, mud, rock, hell I have ridden it in snow! Amazing tire. - Frank
Getting acquainted with the E07s on my new 890. Appreciate the recommendation for the AX 41s. Believe I’ll try them next, and may not wait for the stock tires to wear out!
Good review, I have been curious about the E07+. I really dont like the E07 front tire. In loose terrain that tire wanted to wash out on me all the time. I used it both in 19" and 21" sizes with the same issue. Maybe pair the rear tire with the new K60 Ranger.

Great video! I bought a pair of these for my 1st gen Vstrom 650 after a set of Tourances. Partly due to your positive review. Weirdly I was pleasantly surprised by how "quiet" they are compared to tre reviews. Maybe my bike is super loud... Mind you, I am a rather not-so-experienced and afraid-of-everything-thats-not-ashphalt type guy who is trying to get off the road more often. I rode my Tourances on gravel, sand, mud a bit but (again probably because of my inexperience) I don't feel safer on these for some reason. Still love them, and will push those limits a bit more.
Hello ARG, nice bike! You cannot go wrong with a VStrom, both 650 and 1000. (Have not owned the newer 800/1050) I still, even after trying Motoz, prefer the Mitas E-07+ as my rear tire. It's never let me down! - Frank

Had planned a ride from Perth Western Australia to Melbourne on the east coast, hoping to cover some dirt roads but after my schedule changed I was time short and stayed on the bitumen. Running EO7+ front and rear I can honestly say that I am surprised how well they handled the road, in desert heat and city rain. Nearly 8000 km in nine days, and still so much left to give. This was on a loaded Yamaha SuperTenere, which I thought might have vapourised those tyres in the heat.

Interesting, you went from a heavy tires to the Trailmax Mission, in a comparison test of 7 tires, the Trailmax was the heaviest tire. Also, you said that you changed tires and your fuel economy improved by 4mpg, but you are going right back to the E-07’s.
Heavy tires have a lot of problems with them. The heavier they are the more stress they put fon your drivetrain. From your transmission, sprockets, chain and suspension. Most people remember a little bit of what inertia is. It takes energy to overcome it and get something moving. The heavier something is the more energy it takes.
But, something most never consider and I have never heard anyone talking about it, it braking. In my physics class I was thought about momentum and it’s relationship to energy as well. The more a tire weights, the more momentum it has, the more momentum, the more energy has to be converted to stop it.
Brakes convert the momentum of the vehicle into heat. That is the reason why brakes get hot. A heavy tire rotating at high speeds has more momentum that a lighter tire. It’s amazing how much a pound of two of weight can change the momentum in relationship to it’s speed. That momentum has to go somewhere to stop you. I am sure that the wear and tear on brake parts are greater the heavier the tires are.
I am not physicist or expert in the subject by any stretch of the imagination, but I am sure that I am not too far off the truth.
Anyway, you got me thinking about the tires I have on my Tenere 700. I use more 80/20 or 90/10 tires for the moment. Once I go back to international travel I’ll switch back to 50/50 tires currently I have the Avon Trailrider, so far I like them a lot but I have about 500-800 miles since I installed them. I have not taken them off road but I have ridden them a lot in the rain. I need to start looking at tire weights when buying new tires.

Hello Parellel, happy to help. How much mud do you run into? These will allow you do quite a lot off road, but if tour going to avoid mud, something like the Trailmax Mission will last forever and do very well. - Frank

Rob - I could not agree with Frank more. My previous set on the DR were the MITAS E-07's - and they absolutely transform the DR into a completely different bike. You will absolutely love them - Trust me on that one. Personally, I did not notice too much noise from the front tire - but perhaps my exhaust was drowning it out - not sure. I've also been told if you hear tire noise - try adding a couple of extra pounds of tire pressure & it may go away. I know that does work with my current Shinko 244's - but that's a 70/30 tire. The Mitas E-07's are an incredible 50/50 tire - that's a fact !!!

I am though my third set of these tyres and i found them to be my favorite on the 1190 Adv R. I did a trip vom Vienna to north cape and to Italy on the same set. The front did 20k km (10k miles) and the rear 16k km (10k miles) with a very conservative right hand 😀.

I could see that you would like that rear tire given where you ride. I don’t think they would work well (or any better) for me than the tires I currently have on either bike given where I like to ride. I was surprised that it is heavier than the TrailMax Mission. In most tire review comparisons the rear TMM is the heaviest tire.
Hello VTrack, it's most definitely a very different tire than the Trailmax Mission. And I feel the TM is a better tire for most people.
But when you need a tire that will bite into rocks and mud, plus be long lasting on an ADV bike, the Mitas is something special.
There was only one hill climb where the TN kinda made the climb harder than I wanted. As an all around tire it's the king for sure. - Frank

Hello Backcountry, I belive the plus to be superior. I know the standard is more "offroad", but honestly, the plus clears mid better IMHO, and of course I do road miles and the plus helps there too. - Frank

Really good tire (and gave the bike some attitude) except on wet tarmac where it was instead really "exciting".

Hello Randomly, they are tubeless. One of the guys on Dorkscord ran them with tubes in his WR250R. Though they are a very heavy tire to use on a dualsport. - Frank

I recently bought and mounted a set and I see some odd differences. My rear tire has a continuous strip of rubber down the center and the front knob depth is very short. That said, they seem to work well.
Hello WHM, The strip in one different versions / sizes of tires. My front had the strip, and I have seen two bikes with the rear strip. They need to break these tires out into different models. E-07 is covering too many variations... - Frank

Hello Kadikis, I am running an AX-41 on the front now. I am not sure if it will last 5K+ miles, but it's performing well beyond my expectations. I had it in deep sand in Florida, and it was the first time that I gave not buried in the sand and dropped the bike! - Frank
I am also curious about something else. You keep saying that the rear was an E-07 Plus, but kept calling the front just the E-07. So is the front tire the E-07 or or E-07+? Also, not only is there two versions of that tire, but the E-07+ comes in two versions, the standard and the Dakar. If you has a E-07+ in the back and the E-07 in the front, I would suggest trying an front E-07+.
I have never used any Mitas tires but I’ve done some research. I don’t know enough about the differences between the E-07 and E-07+ to know if that could make a difference for you. I do know that the E-07+ is great tire for all conditions and road surfaces, but the E-07+ Dakar, with it’s hards compound and tougher built, performs nothing but lousy in cold weather and rain. Someone even called them dangerous for those conditions. Great for offloading and hot summer days.

I have them on my Tiger 900, at 5500 KMs mine look like yours at 7400 miles. What pressure are you running at?

I have them on my t7..only have about 200 miles on them so far..just curious what are the issues with the front so I know what to be aware of other than noise
Helo Gabriel, I had zero issues with these on my 390. I also ran them on my VStrom 1000. On that bike I had the back tire slide out on me a few times on wet cold pavement. In the same condtions the lighter bike never has... keep it in mind when taking corners in the rain. - Frank

Hello, yes they are different. And the Dakar, also is different. The + for the rear seems to be the sweet spot. Longevity, superior to the non +, less than the Dakar, but getter traction, especially in wet conditions. - Frank

@@OneOldManRiding "Dakar" refers to the hardness of the carcass and rubber compound. The "Plus" tire is also available as a normal and as a Dakar variant.
How about wet road ?
I only had issues in cold wet roads with the VStrom 1000. Between 30-40. In warmer wet roads, no issue. I had them for just over 5K miles. - Frank
