I'm a teen boy, and I am really good with my mezzo. All I do is to sing Vocaloid songs and try to sing them. Over time, I did manage to even reach the soprano-G
@@lightdropp well, I did hit puberty, and when I started, even my alto was really bad, but all I did to become good like I am now, was just to sing songs and try to improve or think about what or how I could do better with my voice. Puberty wasn't really a big deal for me, when it came to singing
Same I’ve been singing for years and then suddenly puberty hit now I can’t even sing the high notes in “rewrite the stars” and it really pisses me off. Any of y’all got tips? I’m a former alto turned tenor-baritone(I’m in the middle ground)
Omg it took me over a decade to get my mixed voice but that was all self taught. It’s funny tho cuz I was always super shy and stuff as a kid. Always wanted to sing and start a screamo band with my friends in highschool but we were all too shy to sing. Then I got a car and I was able to envelope myself in sound and not fear other people hearing me. After time I noticed I wasn’t using falsetto on the high notes. Still with me? Good. Using the same car radio technique I was able to screw around with different styles of screaming and now I can do good mid range like BTBAM and pretty decent high range like TFOT. Ok I’m done. Thanks for the video I’ll have to look out for more that fit my needs. I’m alright at high notes now but having these more legitimate techniques shouldn’t hurt.
i understand the shyness. i think MOST of us who loves singing have the same fears especially by being self taught..i always envy people who found their talent at a young age that they kind of grew up with it and everyone around them are supportive. it's not something you have to break the news for lol im still struggling but ive a few people who supported and give honest reviews and are my biggest fans..it helps the way you approach getting better and find your voice so much
@@mencot89 wow totally. You remind of two well trained music vocalists I studied with in my youth, who addressed these same techniques. You want to stay on top of the note, to avoid going flat which comes with practice, and clear them with natural ease, as you've mentioned, to avoid *breaks*
This video is extremely helpful. I tried signing without going up and there was less strain and I was able to hit the higher notes without it sounding awful.
I just wrote a song recently about a guy that I liked who didn't like me back. I'm normally an alto, but I made the song hard to sing 'cause it starts low and then it goes high. So it's around the mezzo range which I'm trying to get better at. These exercises are helpful! Thank you so much! 🥰
As a well trained vocal student, I agree. The voice must be free and moving. In classical singing, achieving this is traditionally done with covering/mask technique. Keeping a tower shape from the nose to the jaw, going upwards, prevents us from raising the larynx and squeezing the vowels. I feel I have benefitted from this in musical theatre singing, but some times people shame me for this because my vibrato is “too operatic”.
Can someone help me please anyone. If I try to relax my muscles in my throat my voice goes hoarse and starts to sound raspy and it sounds terrible but it I tighten my muscles it sounds cleanish and I can go higher. And also when I try to sing mix voice I go higher in my chest voice but then I breaks and voice cracked then goes to the strong voice that I can sing very high and very loud feels like my chest voice but a lot higher. I’m guessing this is my mix voice but switching from chest to mic is not smooth and makes a pause and cracks for a second
4:00 - how do I know when to let the voice transition into head voice? This is the main trouble I'm having is like, I'll do the run once and flip at a different point every time.
when I lower my volume while going through my passage I'm able to sustain it the mix, if I don't I just break or jump to head voice. Is it a matter of getting better over time or am I just doing something wrong here?
You definitely just have to keep at it. It starts out as a very light sound if you have never fully developed it before. Whatever exercises you do, make sure that you have a bright, “buzzy” tone (think bee gees) because this tone is what I’ve found grows the voice the quickest and strongest
I am a baritone. Recently I tried to sing One Direction songs : 1. Story of My Life 2. What Makes You Beautiful In the 1st strong, actually I could sing the refrain part all with full-voice, but it needs good stamina due to the long sequence of the part. Whereas in the 2nd song, I could only sing some parts of the refrain with full-voice. I feel mixed voice won't fit those parts if it is applied.
Where am I supposed to be feeling the resonance as I go up to the high notes? Should the resonance go up in to my head and forward in to the mask? Thanks
question, if you are able to answer this ....because i've been unable to find any vocal teachers that talk about this and i think it would be helpful. what specifically is different & the same in the throat/mouth/breath support etc... with falsetto vs. mix vs. chest ...specifically falsetto vs. mix in the same register. Take an F#4 for instance Most teachers will only demonstrate the sound of it or use the adjective "breathy" -or talk about the cT / ta between a falsetto note and a mixed voice note. I’m sry I have like 95% have no idea what ur talking about but from what I’ve gathered I think the answer is that for chest voice you try and control the air, but for head voice u push a little more (the breathy adjective) air out??? U sound like u know lots about music so u prob already know that but if case u didn’t…
i live with other people so i can't really use much volume. if i hit a high note its usually heavily mixed and thin but i feel like if i put more power / air into it then it would sound nice. is this something that happens or is volume not really a constraint ?
Thank you for this video, i have been trying to sing the ballad of jane doe from ride the cyclone and this will help me be able to hit those high notes better ☺
So, I have a similar problem when I’m moving in to mixed voice that it sounds like you do. I didn’t used to have this problem but it seems to have developed over the last year. When I belt I sound a bit brassy or something. It’s worse when I use vibrato. I haven’t seen anyone else talking about this being a thing that develops in a trained voice and I don’t know what to do to correct it. I can sing comfortably well above this range, but when using mixed voice to belt it just has this grating brassy texture. It’s kind of cringe. Please help!
It's so hard to learn singing when you know you can't do it alone, but so much advice is contradicting and not consistent across all teachers, my teacher said raising the eyebrows is good because it "raises your soft palette" this man says it doesn't nothing, my teacher says to sing with a wide mouth, this other guy says to keep it small. It's so hard to know who to listen to, when you can't do it yourself and it's such a elusive skill to learn
I keep going into falsetto on the high end of the "ney" exercise, and when I try not to, I start sounding like a dying goat, and my throat hurts dammit.
Ever since I started puberty I forgot how to use head voice, it has been a falsetto for the longest time, before this year I suddenly remembered how to do it and now can reach the soprano high C, kinda unusable

Well, I’m 14, puberty has killed my high notes and well, I sound like The RMS Olympics whistle. Google it. It’s deep. I cannot sing certain notes. It’s just air. Air. No sound, air. Sir Ramsey. Such good instruction. You give the why and that makes following your instruction with confidence easy.
I do the vocal warm ups daily but the 'gees' seem soo difficult i traded em with 'fee' today xD better connection! But does it work the same?
Personally I find the ‘G’ is pretty important to the exercise to trigger the right muscles…
The "g" in "gee" also makes sure your soft palate raises, so it's extremely helpful
Plz share the link where i can get these excercises
