I subscribed yesterday, maybe two minutes into the video, and it was the first time u were "suggested" to me. I know a lot of what you're saying, as I've been in some kind of therapy for 30 years (most of my life). I think what you doing here is awesome. The thing with me is : done it, now what? I guess it's because I'm working through my root causes right now... I'll keep following your videos and thank you so very much💙❤
Hi! I was wondering if there are any caveats to the sleep part. Does this have to be 8 hours of sleep at night or sleep when your tired/napping or other sleep patterns?
Hi Dr. Nicole, I loved the video! I am aware how important sleep is but what if we suffer from insomnia and just can’t get enough sleep? Do you have some advice on how to resolve sleeping issues? Thank you in advance! ❤️
I'm positive that the years of cortisol and adrenaline from my narcissistic family system caused my autoimmune problems. It is hard to keep a routine at this point in my life. But I look forward to it in the future. Survival mode is really rough, but I will get out of it soon.
I’m also on this path, for the past 11 years. I wasn’t kind to my body because of the stress and some traumatic life events and upbringing but I’m learning every day. Now I’m having more good days then bad, which wasn’t always the case. It is quite a journey but worth the fight! I noticed that as I began setting boundaries and removing toxic people from my life, I started healing. Not only emotionally, but physically too!
I can't thank you enough for how much you've impacted my healing journey! For so many years i was completely disconnected from myself and was in a constant state of fear. I've been using all your tools for months now and I never imagined that i'd be in control of myself again. Thank you Dr. Nicole!!
This is incredible. I especially needed to hear the part about eating the potato chips and snapping out of it when the bag is empty. That’s so REAL. I recently came to the realization that I use food to dissociate myself from stressful or triggering experiences. Tasting something pleasant eases the discomfort of what is happening around me…I’m so happy to KNOW this because now I am more conscious of when it might happen. Thanks for the work you do. You are transforming LIVES. Out here doing what you were created to do! God bless you Doc!!
I've lived off stress for so long since I was a child my adrenal glands are so screwed up. I meditate every day and get so relaxed I pass out every time. If I try to sleep like go to bed at a decent time I'm up 2 hours later. I've had a sleeping disorder since I was young adult. Fibromyalgia and having 4 knee surgeries and 1 leg reconstruction I have a hard time sleeping because of pain. I've learned to at least try to do what I can and not beat myself up for the things I'm unable to do. I'm learning compassion for myself this seems to help. Thank you for doing this video
Hey, I'm sure you've tried lots of things but I just wanted to mention something that helped me significantly with sleep in case you haven't looked into it yet: blue light blocking. Blue light wreaks havoc on circadian rhythms and is sooooo prevalent today. There are glasses you can get, apps for mobile devices, special bulbs for lights you have to use at night, etc. But it helped me so much to really minimize blue light after sundown.
This was exactly what saved my life when I entered your IG page in June this year. At that time I had panick attacks and I thought I will spend the rest of my life feeling weak and anxious. But your posts whispered to me - you can do it, you can heal yourself. I felt seen and my life has changed a lot since then 💜 Finding your Instagram was a life changing coincidence. I like how it is all put in one video here. Thank you so so much 🙏
Amazing. Amazing. Amazing video and teaching. I will be sharing with those closest to me. The changes, that I'm seeing in myself has been tremendous, and I'm especially grateful. Listen, I asked God for help and he has given me you, and your work in this season. Thanks Dr. Nicole. 😘
Super helpful! I feel some kind of relief whenever I notice I’m not the only one who lives stress and that we have this tools to come back to balance. Thank you so much!! ❤️
I. Love. You. So. Much. And all your hard work. And your devotion. Your vulnerability. You taught us so much that every time I watch your videos and do your work. I feel so much better as a human being! Thank you for all of your team too xx
This is great, and happens to reinforce much of what I heard at a clinic given by sports psychologist Mario Soto just on Friday night. One of my favorite things he said, which relates to “grounding”, was “be where your feet are”, and I thought it was such a simple yet meaningful way to remind ourselves to be present. Thank you so much for sharing all of your insight and wisdom! It is both comforting and challenging at the same time, enabling all of us who follow you to change and grow.
Thank you Nicole! I had my first shingles outbreak 2 years ago when I was 27, and I just had a second outbreak last week in my 4th week at a new job. I had blood work done last year to check and see if it was an autoimmune problem, and nothing was found. It has been a slow process for me to accept, stress/trauma has done this to me, and I need to actively heal. But I am being mindful, and listening to my body. I have a 2-3 year plan to get out of the 40 hours a week in a corporate office grind, and I feel more hopeful than I have in a long time.
The chicken pox vaccine also plays a role though! Since we are no longer being constantly re-exposed to wild chicken pox, shingles is happening in younger and younger people. But before the chicken pox vaccine was introduced, shingles only impacted very old people over 80 who had very little contact with young children and so they had stopped being re-exposed to the wild virus. (not saying that stress isnt also a factor but just saying)
Unfortunately, mainstream medicine focuses on treatment, and what they can find scientific evidence for. Clinicians who specialize in trauma and chronic stress are making progress in their area. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not real!
I can't help but note the synchronicity of this video with how I mindfully felt stress in my body just yesterday! I was really paying attention to how uncomfortable my body felt while I was actively angry with my partner yesterday. I recalled the hormones you named rushing through my veins while my heart rate was increasing and my muscles were tightening. I practice yoga, breathwork and meditation to counter balance the uncomforbility that courses through my body. Great video, super important.
What helps me is also TRE: Tension ans Trauma Releasing Exercises. It‘s simple and easy. Thank you for your informations. So helpful ❤️greetins from Zurich

Also, had my serenity has increased (from lots of work with the psychologist and Al-Anon) the more intense my body fights back at times. This happens to me sometimes when I get quiet and pay attention to what my body is doing, I can almost feel my heart start to race more 😓 Also, I meditated daily for about a year and a half, and while perhaps there was some progress that I wasn’t fully conscious of, I didn’t feel significant enough progress that I kept up with it. @UCtEWTaMjqOH8J1Gy06Ey0Yg Great Video! Thanks! I have a question, I just recently learned that I have a huge lack of Vitamin D, which affected my mood and my immune system. Since I got the results from my blood test I am taking Vitamin D supplements to restore my body. I do love being out in the sun, however, I live quite far north and my job does not allow for enjoying the midday sun, hence the lack of Vit D. Additionally, I have very pale skin and am a very light skin type, so I am deeply afraid of developing skin cancer if I expose my skin unprotected to the sun. Now my question, does my body still produce Vitamin D when I use a sun blocker on my skin when I am out in the sun? Thanks a lot!
How often have we heard these same basic concepts around health. Most people who have struggled already have heard “breathe more”, sleep more, eat well, try to meditate and get some sun which is good for combating depression or stress. Is there anything more people can learn that’s less redundant
@@TheHolisticPsychologist So long as it helps some people in the end who need to be reminded often or just simply don't know about these things. If these basic daily life practices are a problem it seems like its a much bigger issue than educating yourself and trying to practice when you can but can at least help fight the symptoms of whats really going on.

They also don't support fasted exercise because it boosts cortisol. They've got a lot of specific information like that.
